What might be exact reasons to vary rankings in countries
-
Our website ranking always fluctuates from US and India. Our primary visitors are from US followed by India. We can see 10 ranking positions difference in these countries whenever we did some changes. Why this? More precisely to say, rankings are inversely proportional like rank drops in other country while improved in one country and vice versa. What could be the possibility? We been facing this from an year and searching for someone who could really make a move on it.

If there is something involved with link reclamation, then this is a very involved potential issue. Meaning, I am not sure someone can figure this out on a forum. If you need help, I recommend contacting Alan Bleiweiss, he is an awesome forensic SEO. http://alanbleiweiss.com/
I will leave you with one recommendation. Don't look so much to your competitors as to what is best for your market. I recommend doing your own audience research. While your major competitors might be the same in the US and India, the relevance and needs of your audience are different. This comes out subtly in many instances of SERPs as the results are a blend of over 200 factors and those factors are different in each country version of Google. They do their own testing based on that market not the world wide market.
Stick to your site and what might be causing the ranking changes on a per page/per topic basis in each country. Separate them and work at this problem from a technical and user perspective.

Hi Kate,
Thanks for the answers. We have same content for US and India like our competitors as the niche is globally popular and accessed. Our competitors are almost same in India and US as the industry is globally extended. We don't see this ranking pattern for any of our competitors. Just wonder why exactly the rankings are hitting each other in these countries. I wonder any backlinks have triggered the Google algorithm. Do you think so? Coz we noticed this post the link reclamation process.
Thanks

There are a number of reasons this could happen.
-
Your content's relevance to the Indian market vs US market. Have you differentiated it? Do you need to?
-
The competitive markets are different. Your set of competitors is different in each country.
-
Google US and Google IN work separately from each other. Point: Google Germany and France recently updated their image search to match other Google properties, many years after the change in the US.
Ranking the same in the US and India is not an expected thing.

Do more links from sub-domains to domain (website) hurt rankings?
Hi all, If there are multiple sub-domains like abc.website.com, 123.website.com, etc...and if the top pages of website are linked from multiple sub-domains via top menu or footer links; will this hurts? Will too much interlinking of few top pages of a website from it's sub-domains dilute link juice? How many links ideally we can add to website from a sub-domain? Thanks

Are non-breaking spaces ( ) in keyword phrases bad for ranking
Hello all, I came across a tip for avoiding text orphans in responsive design by putting a non-breaking space between the last two words. While this works nicely, I was wondering if I did this inside of a keyword phrase, would it still rank equally as well? Or will it be viewed as separate phrases or terms? Thanks, Roman

Can a cloud based firewall affect my search ranking?
Hi, I recently implemented a firewall on my website to prevent hacking attacks. We were getting a crazy amount of people per day trying to brute force our website. I used the sucuri cloud proxy firewall service which they claim because of the super fast caching actually helps SEO. I was just wondering is this true? Because we're slowly falling further and further down the SERPS and i really don't know why. If not, is there any major google update recently I don't know about? Thanks, Robert

Flickr Gallery Effect on Page Ranking
Hello there We are working on a redesign for our site, and our business is very image intensive (sign company) On a typical product page, we have 5 images we are placing directly in the site optimized to try to rank the images in image search We also have about 30-50 sets of images, with 3-5 images each - hosted on flickr, that we are displaying as galleries on the page (user clicks, opens a light box to view the set, etc) Here is the page - http://impactsigns.ugmade.com/sample-page/ If you look at the page code, you will see that the flickr gallery (additional examples) section - adds ALOT of code to the page (lines 498 to 837) My question is : Does adding that flick gallery block negatively impact the page SEO, all else being equal? It seems like a lot of lines of code. And dont want it to seem spammy to the search engines. Thanks for your help and advice

Preserve Rankings When Switching to a New Site
Hello community! I have a quick question for you regarding preserving my SERPs once I switch a development site to replace the current production site. Basically, we are switching to a new CMS and will be featuring the same content, architectural layout, URL structure, etc. Again, the only difference is that it's going to be on a new CMS. Upon switching to the new version of the site, what would be the best strategy for making sure we preserve our rankings for content already ranking highly within the search engines? Likewise, is there anything additional we may be able to do right-off-the-bat in order to assist content that may not be ranking highly in the SERPs, rank more highly?

For a varied product type or keywords group is it best to have several sites?
Hello everyone... Question: I have 7-8 generic keywords that I would like to rank for, is it possible for one site to rank highly for all these different keywords, or would this be best achieved by making 2 or 3 websites in total targeting different keywords (product sectors)? More info: We are in a niche industry & would like to know if it would be beneficial to have several websites made for specific product types rather than one main site? Although these sub classifications of products are nice, they are competitive as they have a high search volume Would it be better to build specific websites that only do that one type of product and have related keyword in domain, content & blogs on the site to that effect to increase relevance and positions as a result? Thanks
