NoFollow Affiliate links from (very) shady websites will effect rankings?
-
Should I be worried , and if so what to do, if affiliates are linking from shady / gaming/adult websites?
or dost the fact that the links are nofollow solve this issue completely ?
-
No because, No Follow links is also needed as we create do Follow backlink
-
Some of these affiliates are our affiliates with highest revenue.
the website is totally unrelated but still converts (because of massive traffic volumes) -
If there is a no follow tag it would not matter. Google will ignore those links anyway if no follow tag is insert. If you feel not comfortable with it you can always use Google Search Console to disavow links like Nigel explained.

Hi Sagi
If you have a link from a completely unrelated website then I would politely ask them to remove it/them.
If you can't get it removed this way then add it to your disavow file.
Frankly, toxic links are damaging and they need to be dealt with.
If that was my affiliate it would quickly be an ex-affiliate. Warn them first - then take action.
I hope that helps,
Regards
Nigel

So let me ask it a bit differently:
If Google sees that most of your traffic (or at least a significant volume) is originated from adult websites, (while your website is legit , non adult)
would you not be worried?
(assuming it's all NF links) -
If they are linking with no follow tags to your site they will not harm you. No worries!

Affiliate links and parameters creating duplicate page titles
Hi, we have an affiliate system and use rel=**canonical **to canonicalise them to the right link. Still, we see those links creating duplicate page titles, in Moz crawl and in Google search console. How are we supposed to treat those links so they do not create duplicate content? Thanks for your help!

Looking for a way to crawl and test validity of affiliate links at scale. Ideas?
Hey all, I'm on the hunt for a service that will crawl our affiliate links and let us know when they return an error. I need to know that the last URL in the chain is returning a 200 over thousands of pages and links on a continual basis. The hitch is that most crawlers like Screaming Frog will return all of our links as working because it's only testing the first step, and this really requires a cloud solution anyway. Anyone happen to know of something? Edit for clarity's sake: I need something to check entire redirect chains in bulk that isn't a Wordpress plugin, isn't a website where you plug in a URL and it cuts you off after the first 100 results, and has the ability to crawl the site and provide reporting on a continual basis. Affiliate site
I have a client I am doing SEO work for. He sells a system that helps people win at video keno. He sells a system for like $200 that shows people step by step how to play and win. Its a good site and he has a ton of verified winnings. My point in saying that, its not a fly-by-night system he wrote in his basement. I know - gambling, not easy for SEO. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. Wouldn't this potentially be perfect for affiliate marketing? He offers a good commission to whoever sends him traffic if they buy. If anybody could direct me to a resource or two that is reputable and would handle as much of the set up and management of this I would be very grateful! Thank you! Matthew

How much SEO benefit am I getting from 'affiliate' links?
Hi all, We run lots of different campaigns with affiliates and as such they have links on their websites pointing back to ours. I was keen to know how much 'link-juice' these kinds of links are passing back to our websites or how much SEO benefit we are getting from them. The links have "?=affiliate" in them. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Many thanks! Rob

URL Tags / Affiliate tracking help
1. If I give a sales rep a unique tag to put at the end of a URL for tracking purposes, will Google index the "www.mysite.com/service.html?unique-tag" version of a page and display it in search results? 2. Would a tool like Xenu be able to find that version of a URL? Reason for questions: If I give my sales people tags with their names in them, I don't want competitors poaching my sales people by search for all URLs on my domain. Follow up: are there any other potential issues that I should think about? Thanks!

My new site experienced a sudden drop in Google rankings
We launched a new affiliate site at the beginning of April this year dealing in reviews, vouchers and price comparison for a niche product. We had a pretty good start, with some of our target keywords ranking #8 #10 #7 but this week they have suddenly dropped off dramatically - like 36 or 42 places. We haven't made any changes to the site apart from publishing new content pieces, such as news posts and reviews - does anyone know why this would suddenly happen? Thanks
