Does Javascript links pass equity? (AngularJS)
-
Hi Moz Community,
I am starting a link building campaign for one of my customers and I'm wondering if Google is able to pass link equity between javascript links. When I'm looking at my crawl report with Screaming Frog, I can see the number of links each page has so I can conclude that Google is able to see all the links. I've read that if my CSS & JS files are available for Google crawlers, ultimately, Google can crawl those URLs, but what about passing link equity?
Before I start the link building campaign,
Do you have any recommendations, case studies?
Is it possible to include natural href links that pass link equity in a website that is entirely made with AngularJS?
Thanks for all your inputs!

Thanks for your response,
But I'm looking to get information on the aspect of "passing equity" between Javascript Links. I've analyzed all the PA of my sites and except for my homepage, every page has a PA of 1.

Hi Alexander,
While most JS frameworks don't always need the 'old school' <a href=""></a>links to handle links most sites will still be using them and actively see them as links, just like Google does.
Martijn.

Link Structure June 2019
Question Which link structure is better in 2019 for best SEO practice Example A) https://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/soft-plastic-lures/ Or B) https://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/fishing/fishing-lures/soft-plastic-lures/ We're on the bigcommerce platform and used to have https://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/categories/soft-plastic-lures/ Last year we went from bigcommerce long URL to short to bypass the link juice being sent to /categories Now we have an SEO company trying to sell me their services after a bit of a steady decline since september 2018 and told me that we should have link structure as example B and that is likely the reason for the dip.. Due to breadcrumbing, True or False?

I was under the impression that Short urls opposed to long was better these days and link juice is passed better if it is short url direct to the point? Am i wrong?1 -
Directory links with no follow
Hi I'm researching competitor backlinks & they have a lot of directory links which are no follow - but they rank very well. Is this type of link building even allowed by google? I know they they aren't allowed followed directory links, but will no following them help with rankings?

Would you recommend content within Javascript links?
We are an ecommerce site and I have noticed sites like this - workplace-products.co.uk/premises/canteen-furniture.html with hidden content (click on the details link under the canteen image) My question is would this content be as good as content that is placed normally within the body of a website? Because content I place on our pages is more for SE rankings than it is for visitors. Good to get your thoughts Thank you Jon

Https vs Http Link Equity
Hi Guys, So basically have a site which has both HTTPs and HTTP versions of each page. We want to consolidate them due to potential duplicate content issues with the search engines. Most of the HTTP pages naturally have most of the links and more authority then the HTTPs pages since they have been around longer. E.g. the normal http hompage has 50 linking root domains while the https version has 5. So we are a bit concerned of adding a rel canonical tag & telling the search engines that the preferred page is the https page not the http page (where most of the link equity and social signals are). Could there potentially be a ranking loss if we do this, what would be best practice in this case? Thanks, Chris

Sponsored blog - pass any link juice?
Hello there, If a quality blog in our specific niche writes an article about us which is clearly labelled "sponsored post" as we have either paid them or given them a product, will Google discount that link going back to our website? Should we request for the link to be "no-follow"? Thanks Robert

Link Building with a Scholarship
One of my clients is using a scholarship to build links. We have a nofollow PR campaign getting ready to start and are doing some social marketing for the scholarship page on the site. We are also trying to get backlinks from highschools and colleges that link to scholarship opportunities. So far this has been a slow process. Does anybody have any advice for speeding any of this up? Has somebody ever done a campaign like this before? Is there some kind of database with financial aid contact info for a lot of schools? I contact a lot of schools and always tend to get put on the backburner.

Does a 302 redirect pass penalties?
I'm having problems finding a definitive answer to this question, there is a lot of rumour and gossip out there but nothing I can rely on. I'm working with a site that received an unnatural links notice followed by a massive drop in search traffic. Looking at the link profile it's pretty much jacked beyond repair and I have recommended that we move over to a fresh domain. However, it's an established brand with many more sources of traffic than organic search. There's no way we can burn all their repeat visits, loyal customers, brand recognition that they've built up over the years so I want to redirect from the old domain to the new. This is not to try and make any SEO gain from the previous site, frankly we don't give a crap about that. We just want to maintain the brand. A 302 is a temporary redirect, this will be a permanent move BUT a 301 will pass on the penalty. So can we safely use a 302 redirect in this situation or is there a better alternative (meta refresh?) Thanks for your help! MB.

Why the sudden link drop?
A the end of November I am showing that our total links were 118k. Current links are 22k. We changed sites early November so that was about three weeks before. What would cause the drop of about 100k links? Or where should I start investigating?
