Changed domains, saw significant drop in domain authority
-
Hello,
A little over a month ago we switched our domain from A to B. The original was .com and the new one is at a .tech for good measure.
We have meticulously done 301 redirects page by page but there has been a massive drop in traffic and I checked here to see that we've gone from a 30 domain authority to a 9. The company is a few months over 1 year old, but we're really looking at traffic accumulated in just about 8 months for the old domain.
Is there any way to recover some of the old juice in this one other than the re-directs? Our number of backlinks have also severely dropped despite re-directs.

Thanks for the response.
Looks like we have 55 in search console that I am working on fixing now (mostly things I drafted in CMS)
Would I need to add anything I don't want indexed anymore to robots.txt?
I assume that some of the incomplete 301's might stem from this?

You can expect a domain authority drop with a new domain name. This will climb back up.
The loss of backlinks and traffic however would suggest your 301s are not complete which will impede your DA recovery.
How many 404s do you have in search console?

'domain:example.com/' is this line with a '/' at the end of the domain valid in a disavow report file ?
Hi everyone Just out of curiosity, what would happen if in my disavow report I have this line : domain:example.com**/** instead of domain:example.com as recommended by google. I was just wondering if adding a / at the end of a domain would automatically render the line invalid and ignored by Google's disavow backlinks tool. Many thanks for your thoughts

Why are my changes not being updated?
Last week, I was notified of having a lot of duplicated title pages. I've recently made the changes on my website with unique content. I went back on MOZ this morning, and I'm still notified with the same problems. However, when I check the back end of that specific page, I see the changes already made. My question is, why are my changes not being updated in MOZ? Does it take awhile for MOZ to recognize this or am I missing a step?

Page Rank 7 - Domain Authority of 6 (How does this happen)
Iv never seen this before, but what do you guys make of this? http://www.becitywise.com/ According to Google, its a PR7 website. SEOMOZ are reporting a DA of 6 (1 link to the domain) http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php Any thoughts as to how or why Google have assigned such a high PR? According to Whois, the domain was registered on 16/07/12 so its brand new... The funny thing is, many people purchase links based on the Page Rank, so this guy must be making a fortune. (the Friends links I assume are all paid links) Greg

Using hyphenated sub-domains or non-hyphenated sub-domains? What is the question! I Any takers?
For our corporate business level domain, we are exploring using a hyphenated sub-domain foir a project. Something like www.go-figure.extreme.com I thought from a user perspective it seems cluttered. The domain length might also be an issue with the new Algorithm big G has launched in recent past. I know with past experience, hyphenated domains usually take longer to index, as they are used by spammers more frequently and can take longer to get out of the supplementary index. Our company site has over 90 million viewers / year, so our brand is well established and traffic isn't an issue. This is for a corporate level project and I didn't have the answer! Will this work? anyone have any experience testing this. Any thoughts will help! Thanks, Rob

How will a domain change affect my rankings?
My company will undergo a domain change in the next few months. Other than implementing 301 redirects, what else can I do to help the search engines realize the site has moved? What kind of impact on rankings can I expect to see? Thanks in advance!
