YouTube SEO: Can low quality videos you posted in the past hurt your seo for future videos ?
-
I have a very old youtube channel (10 years maybe) with some low quality videos and a few thousands subscribers.
Now I decided to give it go and make good quality videos.
But one question keeps coming: maybe the fact that this channel is old and with bad videos with very low retention, this would affect the seo of the new videos ?
Is it better to start a new channel from scratch ? even if its more difficult ?
Thank you!

The results on YouTube and on Google, for your current channel should shape and dictate your thinking. Did those videos, even if you perceive them to be low quality, get lots of views? Did they pop up in Google's search results quite often?
If your older channel gained no real following or views on the videos, if the videos never seemed to quite make it into Google's results - then they probably wouldn't help your new endeavor. If the older videos wouldn't help your new channel re-brand, why even keep them? If they certainly won't help your future activities, then even a slight chance of them hurting your new channel isn't worth it (at this point, the answer to the original question becomes irrelevant - you'd just start fresh)
If the videos failed to perform and you think, Google might even consider them toxic (they were for unproven medicine or medical treatments, they were related to get rich quick or make money online schemes, they were related to porn or gambling somehow) - then just drop them completely. There's no reason to contaminate your new channel with poor quality content
The proof factor is in the results though. You can have your human thoughts, but what was achieved through those videos? Why? Maybe they are worth keeping around, maybe not
Hope that helps

Why does YouTube NOT appear in my backlinks?
Hello, I am looking through my backlinks in OSE and i have noticed that there are no inbound links from YouTube. I absolutely have a Youtube account that has links to my social profiles as well as my website, and all of my videos have links to inner pages of my site. Still, no links shown from Youtube. Here is my YouTube page, http://www.youtube.com/user/simplastics ... Any idea why I don't see any inbound links from either my profile page or the individual videos? Thanks!

How to build links with really good S3 hosted video using JW Player
I have a number of really good quality videos that are embedded on my own site. Many are "how to" or "what to do if" type video guides with questions answered by experts. They were professionally shot. So that I could reap the full SEO benefit from the videos, I have them hosted via Amazon S3 and am using an embedded JW Player. We have a video sitemap and, as a result, most of the videos have already been indexed by Google and are showing up in Google video search as residing on our webpage. Now the real problem is how to get some link benefit from them. They should be viable and valuable link bait. My initial thought was to do a PR Web type press release with the video embedded in it. The problem with that is that you are limited to Youtube and Vimeo embedded video which defeats that purpose entirely. PR Newswire has different issues but the end result is the same, I can't embed those videos with them either. As far as I can tell, all I could do with a press release would be to link to the videos. Moreover, I don't even know that press releases would be that valuable in the post penguin world but the hope was that people would share the videos naturally. So, I put it to the experts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get some link benefit from these videos? Any ideas at all? I am stumped. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is creating great content not important for Local seo?
I'm helping a friend out with Local SEO/Google Places and his content is lacking - no blog, no articles, etc. I've read the major "How To" guides for Local seo by Andrew Shotland and David Mihm and their ranking factors but I never see anything about content or linkbuilding (aside from directories).

Hosting All Content Images On Flickr For Blog - What are SEO implications?
Hi, I am starting a travel blog and thought of the idea of hosting all the content images over at Flickr and just calling them into my blog content when needed. Benefits: push traffic over to my Flickr account pull traffic from Flickr to my blog However, I was just wondering about any SEO implications of having 3-4 links per post pointing to Flickr. Is this spammy? Will I lose my juice? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
