Companies Copy Content with links

One of our customers has been getting a whole bunch of really relevant links recently as many of his competitors are actually going to his site copying the text from his page and forgetting to remove the links that are within the text.
Its amazing we have links from major UK providers of his products totally for free.
This is where linking to the actual page itself is coming into play and we are gaining good back links.
Has anyone else experienced this before ?

lol... I understand what you are saying.
My ideas on this subject are different from most.
I am really stingy with my content and not ready to part with it for a few links. I want my site to be the only location on the web where the article exists and then any links that it collects will be directly to my site.

Dont take this the wrong way EGOL but isnt that a very negative way of looking at this situation ?

I get a few links from people who manually grab my content and repost it. But most of the links that I get this way are from sites that I suspect are built from robots crawling the web, grabbing content and mashing it up into a website.
I would honestly don't like getting links this way because the content that they grab and republish is more valuable than the links that I get back.
If your site is less powerful than the sites that are republishing your content then they could outrank you in the search engines and then they would receive the links earned by your content. Also, if those sites have more traffic than your site they could get links from visitors that you would prefer to see going to your own website.

I have a site where I can pick up where my hits came from. So if somebody clicks from another website link to visit my website, I will then pick up from which website they came from and also which page they landed on. Will google penalize me for this and see this as paid advertising?

I would like to get a survey or feedback from other Mozzers who owns an SEO company or manages / hire link builders. **What is the average number of links does your link builder need to attain per week or month? what is their goal? ** I understand quality over quantity but I want to make sure there is a reasonable average to provide them goals and something to achieve on. Of course reward them more if they exceed or get .edu links. What do you institute? What do you think is fair and achievable per website? PS. There is no right or wrong answers here. I am looking for a measurable answer not subjectable. Again just gathering MEASURABLE GOALS.

I want to design SEO link building strategy for my website? Is wordpress.com, squidoo, tumblr, blogger, typepad - Good option for link building?
I am currently concentrating on 8 keywords, for e.g (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). I will be writing blogs with 2 of any related keywords present in it. I am thinking to post 5 blogs on 5 different platforms as (wordpress.com, Squidoo, Typepad, Tumblr, blogger) respectively. I am thinking a strategy as: Monday: Keyword A,B on Wordpress/ C,D on Squidoo/E,F on Typepad/G,H on Blogger/ A,C on Tumblr. Tuesday:C,D on Wordpress/E,F on Squidoo/ etc.... and will rotate these keywords through out the week and the cycle restarts on Monday. The URL for every keyword will be different and relevant to that keyword. I need quick suggestion on this topic..Please..

Is this link Followed?
Hi All, Noticed this link in opensiteexplorer. Its not marked as no-follow, but not sure if this link would pass any value? http://goafrica.about.com/od/southafrica/a/selfdrivesa.htm Click on any external link, it takes you to a "preview" page from within the main website. Is this a false positive? As in it shows as a follow link, but when you actually click it, it doesnt redirect to the website. Any thoughts on this? Greg

What would you do about dead inbound links?
Hey guys, I recently asked a question similar to this, but wanted to spark up a bit of a discussion around it to see what everyone's feelings were on it. The web is always changing - as we're all too aware - so links you may have obtained (by however means) let's say 2 years ago may not be 'active' now. By that I mean you may have had a link from "example_-website.com" in 2010 and now "example-_website.com" is no longer an active website - but still shows a parked domain. The thing is... this parked domain is still cropping up in OSE, suggesting that Google may still believe there's a link there - and may not have re-crawled that site to prove otherwise. The issue I've had with this is an SEO company built links to the sites I'm working on now (one of the sites has been penalised as a result of their link building). These links aren't 'active' anymore and when viewed on OSE, they just head straight to a parked domain with no visible (or in-source) link to my site. What are everyone's feelings on this? What would you all do? I'm in two minds whether to re-write a section of the website.... but I'm swaying towards creating better content and NOT re-directing the old URLs to it (just contact the decent links and ask for a change of link). Hi mozzers, I've had some great success reaching out to many .edu webmasters. Often they are professors and such. My question is, i'm guessing during the summer holiday period, reaching out to these webmasters won't be so fruitful. I'm not in the US and was wondering when the US Summer holidays are for universities over there? Also, does anyone have experience outreaching to these webmasters over the holidays? Peter

When other sites link to your blog pages does it benefit the root domain or just the actual blog page that is linked to? In other words, how page specific is the value of linking?
