Dealing with theft

Hi I paid for a listing on the page below about 3 months ago, I still haven't received a listing. Any suggestions on what sort of action to take?

I also checked Whois records, but interestingly, the record I found using domaintools does not mention DMedia, but much more significantly for the site owner, it actually provides details of the Aussie registered company Lockstock Technology Pty Ltd ACN 113992322. Between the contact info that Robert provided and public records for the company, I would:
- Attempt to contact them in person and see if you can come to a good faith agreement to resolve the issue (either get the link in place or return your payment)
- Failing resolution, write direct to the company, making it clear that you are in possession of sufficient information to make it possible for you to pursue them, request that you require them to resolve the issue and that the consequence of ignoring your correspondence will be that you make a complaint to Consumer Affairs Victoria and to ASIC about their business conduct. It is amazing how quickly the involvement of Consumer Affairs, or even the threat of involving them, can suddenly improve a company's customer service in this country
- Run a quick search to find any citation sites where they have a profile and add an accurate review.
If none of that gets you a resolution then I would chalk it up to experience and not spend any more time, effort or energy on it.

One rule I try to follow before paying online (paypal is best) is to do a whois on the domain to see where they are and if they are hidden. If you go to onthesamehost.com and do a whois reverse IP, you will see who is hosting. I went to http://whois.melbourneit.com.au/ and the Registrant is Duncan Edwards. The Host is DreamHost.com. On looking at 6 other domains one was registered in a way that gave more info:
Duncan Edwards, 61.398331067, organization is DMedia, in Malvern East, VIC 3145. any of this can be found unless the domain is privately registered. I found the main info by whois on the other domains. Name matched the melbournedirectory name.
Since the site is on DreamHost, I would contact them and be very persistent about what has happened. I have seen hosts kick people off because they did not want to deal with complaints.
Hope this helps. -
If follow up is not effective and you paid by credit card, you can always dispute the charge. It appears the dollar amount is not very significant and the bigger question is whether the value from this site (either traffic or link value) is really worth the time anyway. You are probably better off spending your time on better prospects.

Back links off the back of a paid sponsorship deal
Hey Mozzers, I am in need of a bit of advice please? I work for a Gyms chain in the UK and we are sponsoring a major sporting event next month. As part of the deal we get a dedicated webpage and backlink from their high authority website. We do not have a logo and multiple backlinks in the footer on every page of their website, so to my knowledge Google will not necessarily regard this as a paid backlink right? Is there anything in the algorithm that is able to distinguish between the aforementioned backlink and a natural one? Just wondering if our domain is linking to receive the equity or not? Regards Ben

How to deal with Good lost links
Hey, I have a problem with a website of mines. Lately, it has been loosing an imortant number of links (like 20-30 % of the while link profile). Those links are good and coming from relevant blogs with PA/DA >25 and majestic seo CF/TF > 20 . My question is: What's the best way to deal with those lost links ? I have 2 alternatives here: 1. I reach out to those bloggers (whith which i have good relationship) and as them to put the links back. (But i fear this can trigger a signal of bought links; smth like, "I didnt pay so i got my links removed the, and now as i paid again, here i get my links live again") or 2. I forget about those link sources and go search for new, fresh opportunities So, which option do you suggest here ? thanks

Correctly Dealing With Redirects
Hi, Hope someone might be able to help me with this. One of our sites was built badly and the orginal url structure was to have mydomain.com/index.php but these have been changed to mydomain.com by a developer who has put the redirects in place. The problem is that in webmaster tools my link count has dropped to 18 from nearly 2300. I am assuming that Google is not seeing the redirect, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dealing with spam link attack
Last year I noticed that overnight my site was backlinked by 1000's of spammy links.

All with same anchor text and all really awful unrelated sites (law, money, mobile phone, pr0n sites, etc). I've not been hit with any penalties (or at least been messaged with anything to that effect), and I still float around top 10 for that anchor text, but I don't like having 1000's of spammy links with exact anchor text pointing to my site. Especially when all the other competitors have a fraction of the number of links. What would be the best way to combat these links before they do serious damage to my rankings.

What's the real deal with nofollow
I had a few questions regarding nofollow links. It seems like more and more sites, forums, etc. nofollow their links. Is it still worth trying to get a link from? I've heard only Google takes nofollows into consideration. Do other search engines (Bing specifically) "listen" to nofollows? Finally, when checking for nofollow, does it need to be right by the link(s) or can it be anywhere in the source? Thanks in advance!

Whats the deal with Squidoo?
It seems like a lot of our competators are getting lots of link juice from fake/spammy looking articles on squido. Is it worth the effort to make these articles and add links to them, or is google smarter than that? Example here: http://www.squidoo.com/selfstoragesmyrnatn links to: www.migsonstorage.com who seems to be doing pretty good according to OSE with a PA of 63 and a DA of 56
