Is there any sites other then Google Insights which have cataloged search volume for particular queries over time?
-
I know Google Insights gives this data, but the fact that it's relative to overall search requests make it very difficult to see anything other then obvious trends (Toys sell better in November, go figure?). Each query I've looked up[ is showing degradation over time, but I'm postulating that this has more to do with search volume increasing then with the volume of my queries decreasing.

I am from Germany. Having said that, I use the following to track down search volume over time:
Searchmetrics Essentials and SEODiver (I hope I am allowed to mention "competitors" here). Both provide great insight on when a certain search query is most popular. And provided that these graphs/diagrams are right, they provide great recommendations on when to focus on which type of products. For the industries I'm preferrably working in, the results are absolutely correct as they're reflected in the inquiries we get from customers.
Addition: SEODiver and Searchmetrics show the volume relative to most popular month and SEODiver also gives the number of searches of the strongest month which provides you with an estimate amount for the others periods.
Neither tool is free, but worth the money.
And obviously, these tools have made me neglect the Google Trends offering - when did they change the layout like that? And how can I "zoom in" to only see a period of 1 year for example? mixed up Trends and Insights, my bad

Google Keyword Tool: What is considered a unique keyword?
I'm trying to research keywords using Google's Keyword Tool. After looking at results, I have the following questions: 1. Does singular/plurals of a word count as two different keywords to Google (ie: photobooth and photobooths)? Would I need to have a unique page targeting each word or will one page on my site be sufficient for targeting both? 2. I've noticed that different variations of keywords have the same global monthly search results. This leads me to believe that Google see's all of them as one keyword. ie: "photo booth props" and "props for a photo booth" and "props with photo booth", all have 22,200 search global monthly search resluts. On the other hand "moustache prop" and "prop moustache" have different global monthly search results (480 and 590). Can anyone explain this?

Google update going to cause problems for me and maybe you!
Hi, I got a warning come up today in my Adwords account about exact and phrase match being updated to include misspellings etc Read more here: https://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=2537522 Now I use the Google keyword tool to research into exact match terms for SEO, gives me an idea of the search volumes I could potentially receive. If Google adds misspellings, singular and plural forms, acronyms, stemmings etc this will change the data in the Keyword tool not giving accurate figures on the EXACT term. Any thoughts?

Big difference in rank on google.com and google.no
Hi Our E-com website went from 8th to 1st spot yesterday for our most important keyword (barneklær = childrens clothing) on google.no weirdly enough we arent ranking on first page at all on google.com . I find this very strange especially since the keyword itself is so country specific - mainly because of the norwegian specific letter - æ. The results are not due to personalization i ve check it with the keyword difficulty tool here on seomoz. The sites ranking higher then me on google.com are sites i am ranking higher then on google.no. Anyone got a good explanation ? The changes for my keyword in ranking i saw yesterday was alot more then i am used to see - almost like google made some sort of script change. we went from 8th to 1st. 1st dropped to 4th, 5ht went to 2nd etc - i am not used to seeing this big changes. Anyone got a clue to either of these 2 questions ?

Using meta keywords for Comparison Shopping Sites - Buy.com, TheFind.com, Shopzilla
We are thinking about using our meta keywords field to feed to shopping networks like The Find, Shopzilla, Buy.com, etc. These networks want you to provide them with as many keywords as possible to show up in their internal search results. If we feed them our meta keywords field we could have 20 to 25 keywords for each product (tennis equipment). Would this be a bad or good thing for SEO?

Does Google Places pick up interior pages?
For example, we have optimized all of a clients interior pages to the point where it is competing with some of their competitors main pages. Unfortunately, they do not show up on most of the Google Places keywords. Their competition, who are lower than them organically, automatically show up in Google Places while they do not show up at all. Organically they are 2nd or 3rd in most of their keywords, but no one near the top in Google Places. Thank you!
