Just an update, I see that Helios calendar actually fixed most of these issues with their current release. We switched to Tri.be Events Calendar Pro, it was better but the auto delete of past events and auto redirect in the new Helios calendar is very handy, I think I will be switching back.

RE: Over Optimization & Footer Links for Crediting Web Design to a Company
I have always been curious as to how the SE's treat this. Yes, it is probably not a good idea if you are hosted on the same server as the rest of your client's websites, but looking at the current proposed changes as to what may possibly be a penalty, I think that it wouldn't matter much where they are hosted.
I am really interested if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts on a way to give a creative credit to the organization that created the design or creative work i.e) "website design by company " using a micro format or HTML tag.
If the word coming down the pipe is a concentration on natural optimization, then calling a brown dog, a brown dog so to speak by using the proper citation would never be spammy. So linking to your website with "website design by company" shouldn't be penalized, nor should it require a no-follow if it is citing the creative origin, right? Am I making sense, it would be no different than an Author citation.
Reading on this topic today made me think about this, so what would be the most appropriate, a micro-format or some other tag? IDK, but if I come to a conclusion, you will be the first to know.

RE: Duplicate exact match domains flagged by google - need help reinclusion
Google beat up real estate sites for the same reason. City + homes for sale type sites where all that changed was the city, especially where the sites would create mini fact pages for each city to try and pull rank for that area keyword search.
Too many sites have used this technique and the market is saturated with such low quality sites. Niche directories focusing on one city are better, but you need to watch the boiler plate content and also the listings you have need to contribute more to the conversation that just name, address telephone like the yellow pages.
I doubt that Google is penalizing you for using the sale template, as mentioned so many sites use WordPress themes where the code structure is identical, and they are doing fine. I am curious if you are interlinking the websites.
Good content, usefulness and fresh contributions to the site will always be a good recipe. Fix and request re-inclusion and your shouldn't have a problem.

RE: SEO Friendly Calendar System
We are using WordPress. Joomla had similar problems with their calendar but I believe they were solved.
The calendar is being used as a public events calendar which allows for users to submit events for approval, share events etc. I am not sure that the Coffee Cup will suffice.

SEO Friendly Calendar System
Does anyone have a recommendation for a calendar system that is SEO friendly? I have been using Helios Calendar but the current version lacks proper SEO bones (canonical URLs, mini calendar generates links to empty events from 1950 to 2020, 302 re-directs, and it is generating thousands of crawl errors in Google Webmaster Tools.
The developer has plans to implement some fixes, and I would rather not rip apart what is currently there to fix core issues.
I have found that calendars in general are a nightmare. If anyone has any suggestions, or has experience in tidying up Helios I would be interested.
Thanks,
Dan
