Thanks. As I said, Supermetrics for Google Drive does this, but at $600/year I thought I would ask the community if there are any free or cheaper options first.

There was a tool that Chris Le created (and mentioned here on the Moz blog: https://mza.bundledseo.com/ugc/updated-tool-seomoz-api-data-for-google-docs), however I can't get the thing to actually work!!

We're working on a complete rebuild of a client's site. The existing version of the site is in WordPress and I've noticed that the site is accessible via http and https. The new version of the site will have mostly or entirely different URLs.

It seems that both http and https versions of a page will resolve, but all of the rel-canonical tags I've seen point to the https version.

Sometimes image tags and stylesheets are https, sometimes they aren't.

There are both http and https pages in Google's index.

Having looked at other community posts about http/https, I've gathered the following:

• http/https is like two different domains.
• http and https versions need to be verified in Google Webmaster Tools separately. Set up the preferred domain properly.
• Rel-canonicals and internal links should have matching protocols.

My thought is that we will do a .htaccess that redirects old URLs regardless of the protocol to new pages at one protocol. I would probably let the .css and image files from the current site 404.

When we develop and launch the new site, does it make sense for everything to be forced to https? Are there any particular SEO issues that I should be aware of for a scenario like this?

There are two affiliated brick & mortar retail stores moving into e-commerce. For non-marketing reasons separate e-commerce websites are desired.

The two brands are based in separate (nearby) cities in the same Canadian province.

Although the store name and branding will be different, the content on the site will either be near duplicates or exact duplicates.

The more I look into this on Google and SEOmoz QA, the more I am concerned about the SEO implications of this.

Unfortunately, I would say there's very little chance that rewritten content will happen in the foreseeable future.

With that said, I'd be greatly appreciative of the concerns and remedies that the SEOmoz community has to offer (even if they're for future use). Thanks in advance.

Our client's website is non-canonicalized (www.example.com & example.com load the same thing). Google seems to have made a preference for the www, but canonicalizing to www breaks their Flash website. All we're really trying to do at this time is install Google Analytics for them.

What's the smartest way to make sure that both www.example.com and example.com are treated exactly the same by Google Analytics?

Google Developers: Domains & Directories states that by default visit data will be separately collected between the two domains, although I found no references to the common www/naked domain issue.

In stackoverflow: Does google analytics combine naked domains with the www subdomain? Török Gábor says, "Yes, users will be tracked, but the same visitor coming from www.datalookups.com and datalookups.com will be counted as two different visitors."

On the same page, Open SEO says, "This is completely false: www.domain.tld and domain.tld are treaded just the same, and get the same value for the HASH code (the number at the start of each __utm cookie). This an exception: every other subdomain.domain.tld will be handeld as a distinct web site".

Can any Analytics experts help me sort this out? Thanks!

I know the message isn't going to be permanent, but I imagine that the client would want it on there for perhaps several weeks.

Our client is changing brand names and domain names. We know we need to 301 redirect the old domain, but for marketing reasons we want people to see a short message saying that the brand has changed and that they will be redirected.

Example:

Our concern is how, or if, Googlebot will intepret the redirect. Will this accomplish our SEO objective of moving the value of the page to the new domain, or do we need to do just a plain old fashioned 301 redirect and not even let the page load?

I didn't see this topic specifically addressed here: what's the current thinking on using content aggregation for SEO purposes?

I'll use flavors.me as an example. Flavors.me lets you set up a domain that pulls in content from a variety of services (Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, RSS, etc.). There's also a limited ability to publish unique content as well.

So let's say that we've got MyDomain.com set up, and most of the content is being drawn in from other services. So there's blog posts from WordPress.com, videos from YouTube, a photo gallery from Flickr, etc.

How would Google look at this scenario? Is MyDomain.com simply scraped content from the other (more authoritative) sources? Is the aggregated content perceived to "belong" to MyDomain.com or not? And most importantly, if you're aggregating a lot of content related to Topic X, will this content aggregation help MyDomain.com rank for Topic X?
