RE: Should you disavow links from good websites that mention your brand in a negative way
This is a bad idea and definitely an abuse of the tool. If the link is from a good/trusted site irrespective of the negative view it will pass decent DA to you. The link will still exist and traffic will still follow it.
Essentially, disavowing a link is telling Google that the link is a threat to your site. It’s a serious action to take. So you shouldn’t disavow links indiscriminately. Like Google says, you could hurt your own SEO, and that’s not what you want.
If its an issue the first thing to always do is to contact the site owner to get it removed.
The disavow tool is to stop spammy links and defeat negative SEO attacks (which I have suffered) not as described in your question.
I hope that helps

RE: If My site has 20 DA will it be good to get backlinks from a very low DA 3 site for free
As a rule of thumb yes but......
one or two low DA links to your domain won't hurt but a lot of low DA backlinks sends a signal that you are trying to game the system and your serp will suffer as a result.
Moz found during one of its studies that a backlink from a high domain authority page on a low domain authority website provides more value than a backlink from the opposite.
If you are building backlinks it is best to aim for higher DA sites as they will help more than hurt.
I hope that helps

RE: Do the clickable images on pages are bad that they will increase bounce rate and distract users?
As Andrew stated the bounce is all about the second interaction not the length of time on the page. You are encouraging that second interaction, but don't get hung up on the bounce rate entirely, I rate user experience over everything else.
Having your images open in a new tab rather than a lightbox of similar takes away the users ability to navigate your site. If you are viewing on a phone for example a new tab is a pain to close. I prefer to be able to hit the back button or a cross in the corner of the screen. If I had to close a new tab every time I think I'd leave the site alone.

RE: Beware of Fishy 4-Star Reviews
Thank you so much for this, I have experienced this with one of my clients, its a real pain for the honest person just trying to run a business. We rely so much on SERP to bring in business and when something like this has the potential to affect it is most frustrating.

RE: Whats the best way to build good baclklinks efficiently?
I agree wholeheartedly with this. In the short term it is possible to buy links and see a short gain in serp but in the long run, content is king. The algorithm is always updated to find those taking shortcuts and once found there is only a hard, if not impossible return.
James has given great advice.

Is adding video to my homepage a ranking signal
Just had a lengthy chat with an SEO guy and one of the points bought up was that video on the homepage is a definite signal these days and the bots read the metas better than ever.
I'm not sure about this, I do think that videos are a thing that improves the user experience but to rank?
If it was to rank would I embed a YouTube video as its owned by Google, Vimeo for the quality or self-host but cause me to have a heavy page.
I'm a bit lost here and would appreciate some guidance.

RE: Do the clickable images on pages are bad that they will increase bounce rate and distract users?
No problem, Unfortunately, most people do view on a mobile device these days. Just having a responsive site sometimes is just not enough when it comes to user experience. Good luck!

RE: Moz's new Link Explorer, including our revamped index and DA/PA scores is now open to everyone!
Love the new graphic, far easier to follow.
It would be nice to click through from the graphic to a breakdown of competitors stats too.

Moz local not showing Facebook
When using Moz local the search is showing that I have no listing?
I have a business page with 1400 followers and its been active for a long time with the same address and email to all my other listings.
Why would this not be found? Is there something that I am missing?

Thanks, That is a great response Roman,
I'll go through those links and study them.

RE: I'm a beginner. I want to know what this is 'DA'
Darin got there first! Domain Authority. It is the current metric to judge the effect a site has within the algorithm to rank for its niche.
I don't want to copy Darin's post, I'd recommend the links he's given you. Happy reading

RE: What Do You Put For Key Words On A Home Page?
Firstly If you read your introduction here you have already put your keywords in that sentence. Being genuine on your homepage and speaking to the user of your site rather than the bot is always preferable. The algorithm (more accurately AI) is getting so much better at spotting keyword stuffing so be careful how you word it.
Having your address visible will definitely help you in the geographic search for your service and having a description of your service is relevant to your company.
I'd recommend a separate page targeted at each speciality rather than a one for all home page so that the search will give relevant results.
If I was in your position I'd look at the size of the homepage, it's very long, especially on a mobile device. It is also 'heavy' using page speed insights you only score 47/100. Pagespeed is a ranking factor not to be ignored
One other factor to consider is the fact you are not secure yet. Initial an SSL certificate for your site asap as that will stop users on Chrome actually viewing your site completely! Soon it will be browser wide. whether is is a ranking signal yet I'm unsure but it will be in the future for definite.
I hope that helps.

RE: Should I add my html sitemap to Robots?
As said above, great question though.

RE: H1 tag positioning impact
You generally want to have the
tag at the top of the page, above the content paragraph. **Keep it close in relation to the content that is below it also for correlation, **Personally, I'd have it below the banner for that context and keeping a better user experience. Typically, you don't place an
inside the HEADER of the page, but rather the of the site. The Title tag would be in the header.
As long as there is only one H1 tag it doesn't really matter where it is as you are calling it the most important title. Use H2-4 for all the other headings on the page and it will be read that way. As long as the H1 is concise and to the point relating to the page in question above or below makes no difference.
Bruce Clay has a decent view on this and is usually pretty accurate on such things.

RE: Internal no follow links
Thanks, Roman,
You are echoing my sentiments. I'm glad I wasn't having a meltdown.

RE: Just moved to CDN and site dropped in Google
I think that looking at the MOZcast the shakeup in your rank change may not even be due to the change. If it is it'll return to normal and settle down again. The content of your site has not changed has it?
Recently it has been quite terbulant. I've seen myself (also in the wedding industry) drop to page 3 then back to one and down to 2 in one week. I'm just holding my breath.

RE: Is there any benefit of posting links on blogs where last conversation took place 6 years ago
Hey there,
It sounds like you've stumbled upon part of a PBN.
Comments are usually nofollow so it is questionable that purely commenting would do any favours to you.

RE: Duplicated Content on Wordpress Mobile&Desktop versions- Is it bad for SEO?
Hi
Because you are duplicating the site it is bad for SEO. To address this you need to add the canonical tag to the master page. I'd look at your analytics to see where the majority of your traffic comes from, either mobile or desktop and add it to that version of the page.
More info on that here: https://mza.bundledseo.com/learn/seo/canonicalization
I hope that helps.

RE: Anchor Text to Rank for a Keyword
If you are using anchor text that is not on the landing page it sends mixed signals to the search engine. Remember that search engines are just complex directories trying to give the user the most relevant result. If your keyword doesn't match the page it's linking to then the likelihood is it will lose its relevance equalling a lower authority signal and lower SERP.
If you are using a relevant keyword for anchor text then you can weave it into the landing page.
Hope that helps
