Thanks Wissem and Mike,
GWT gives now a good response, so it works!
Cheerz,
Okey thanks, the site is live for a few weeks now. Maybe it has to do with the fact that http://www.m-health-expo.nl/ has a robots txt and http://www.m-health-expo.nl/en/ has a robots.txt.
What is really strange is that it is just a default robots.txt.
But thanks and i will try it.
Cheers Ruud
Thanks but GWT tells me that the robots.txt is blocking it from indexing.
Hi guys,
We have this website http://www.m-health-expo.nl/ but it is not indexed by google. In webmaster tools google says that it can not fetch the site due to the robots.txt but i do not see any faults in it. http://www.m-health-expo.nl/robots.txt
Do you see something strange, it really bothers me.
We have an event related website http://www.sbo.nl so i wanted to use data highlighter because most of our event pages are the same. But data highlighter doesn't show those pages, I will see only an empty page.
For example http://www.sbo.nl/veiligheid/brandveiligheid-gebouwen/
Does someone of you understand what is going on. Data highlighter does show the homepage.
I am thinking it is maybe because of tabbed browsing, or the chat function in that page.
Hope someone can help. You can see a screenshot of Data Highlighter http://www.clipular.com/c?6659030=2X2gQv4O8_9RzcZ1Hk_7xGtCPYo&f=d40975c80bdd11dc357f050cafa73a80
I hope someone can help because i am lost
Cheers Ruud
Hi Guys, i have a small problem with our development website. Our development website is website.dev.website.nl This page shouldn't be indexed bij Google but unfortunately it is.
What can i do to deindex it and ask google not to index this website. In the robots.txt or are there better ways to do this?
Kind regards Ruud
no we use hyphens. Just for the example. And thanks for your answer. I think 3.1 would be an good idea.
I thought just replacing the content would be good because then you refresh your content. You do not lose your link love and the event content would be very similar. We do not really want to rank for the old content. We want a visitor to come to the event page and register for the event.
Have to think about it a little while
Hi Rafi, that is correct what you are saying. But every event has its own page. The question is, if we repeat this event. What would you do. Create a new event page or update the old event page of that event.
Like we would have www.domainname.nl/searchlove (wish we had that event)
And we are going to repeat searchlove in 2013. Would you put all the new data of searchlove 2013 on www.domainname.nl/searchlove or would you create a new url www.domainame.nl/searchlove2013
Sorry if the question was or is a bit difficult to understand (it mainly because of my English)
High Mozzers,
We are an event organisation. Every year we produce like 350 events. All the events are on our website.
A lot of these events are held every year. So i have an URL like
So what would you do. This URL has some inbound links, some social mentions and so on. SO if the event will be held again in 2013. Would it be better to update the content on this URL or create a new one.
I would keep this URL and update it because of the linkvalue and it is allready indexed and ranking for the desired keyword for that event.
Cheers,
Ruud
Thanks Matt,
This is what i suggested and needed a bit of confirmation because i didn't know if this was the same with location based redirects.
A client of mine has an international company named www.taxglobalizers.com if you come from Holland they 302 redirect you to the www.taxglobalizers.com/en version of the site and if you come from Holland they redirect with a 302 to www.taxglobalizers.com/nl version.
I think it is best to change this in a 301 redirect. Am i correct in this?
Kind Regards,
Ruud
This could be due to the fact that there are some links pointing at that URL. I see that also sometimes when we use the URL builder. You can put that URL in the OSE en look for links and try to change those links.
What you should do is ad the rel=canonical to your pages. Then you do not have the dublicate content problem.
What i do not know is if it is possible to ad a disallow in the robots.txt. Hopefully can someone else comment on that one.
Regards,
Ruud
Thanks Geoff.
Will work on the rel=canonical.
Problem is that we have like 60 pages like this with each 10 or more backlinks. For the total site it is something like 800 backlinks.
Well work to do i guess.
Hi there,
At the company i am currently working for we have a problem with shortcut url with tracking in it.
They send a lot of brochures with a shortcut URL which redirects to the page of the event with tagging.
For example
The real URL is:
http://www.sbo.nl/cursussen/schoolleider-primair-onderwijs/
The URL in the brochure is:
www.sbo.nl/schoolleiderpo
this then redirects to: h
ttp://www.sbo.nl/cursussen/schoolleider-primair-onderwijs/?utm_source=direct&utm_medium=shortcut&utm_campaign=schoolleiderpo
Now we can measure the effect of the brochure on on-line traffic and conversion. This is great but a lot of website link to that shortcut url and if the event is put offline the links to it generate an 404. We have now about 800 backlinks that generate this 404 and i want to fix it. Another big problem "i think" is the possibility that google will index this url with tagging.
Now i have 2 options:
1. look at al the url with that 404 and redirect them with a 301 to the best page
2. create the shortcut on an page that is most suitable but then i will get the tagging in the URL and i guess google will see this as dublicate content.
It is possible that in the future the shortcut url will be used again. What would you suggest as the best sollution.
Hello all,
I am fairly new to the SEOmoz community. But i am working for a company which organizes exhibitons, events and training in Holland.
A lot of these events are only given ones ore twice and then we do not organise them any more because they are no longer relevant. Every event has its own few webpages which provide information about the event and are being indexed by Google. In the past we did not remove any of these events.
I was looking in the CMS and saw a lot of events of 2008 and older which are being indexed. To clean the website and the CMS i am thinking of removing these pages of old events.
The risk is that these pages have some links to them and are getting some traffic, so if i remove them there is a risk of losing traffic and rankings.
What would be the wise thing to do?
Make a folder with archive or something?
Regards,
Ruud
