SEOmoz has gone through stratospheric growth and not every aspect of their site is up to the best industry standards at this given moment in time. I do not work for SEOmoz but I pretend to know what is going on from time to time.

With the changes you have made, even though you don't refer to adding any pages, have you re-submitted your XML sitemap?

Putting a new site map up at least sends an alert that you have changed something.

Without being aware of what is on your site content wise, the other thing that might make a difference is a few well chosen out bounds links to authority or reference type sites in your industry (maybe a news article about your subject) not your competition.

When I was paying 50,000.00 to 75,000.00 dollars per month to Google for AdWords they wouldn't give me any help with my natural search ranking either.  I would get Christmas presents, and had my own personal Google adviser. They would call me every month and ask me if there was any way Google could help my business. Every month I would say "Yes, give me some insight into ranking better in the natural search results."

It took a while, but I went from page 28 to page one. (yes really page 28). Since then I have never been off of the first page for any of my relevant target search terms.

What's it worth? Well in my own business, it means a saving of more than $1.5 million in a couple years and a new SEO business. It also is the difference between being IN business and being OUT of business in this economy.

You can however, just pay someone to look after your business website, make sure it ranks well, fix mistakes, point out things you should do different. You can check out some of the best HERE.

At the risk of getting a bunch of thumbs down, between the choices you have specifically asked, I am going to throw in with the .co.

I think the issue is going to be how you promote the site, where you host it and where you get your links from.

If you host it in the USA and build a solid local link building campaign no one is going to have any trouble figuring out where you should be relevant. least of all the major search engines.

The other concern would be when someone tries to type in your url directly. However, There will be a tendency to automatically add an "m" to the end. But will that be any more of a problem then trying to get people to put a hyphen in the right place?

If people really find your site helpful, they'll just bookmark it in my experience.

When you say you are building links back to the main website, are you pointing these at the main page or are you building keyword rich links to inside product pages? Just a thought, if you're not linking to inside pages it will probably make a difference. Natural website link building structure will not all point to the main page of a site

Do you have any pages on your site linking out? I am not talking about building a links page, however linking out to sites in the category you want to be found in, or to news articles about your particular industry can help the search engines decide where you're relevant. If you're selling kitchen products you probably don't want to link out to your competitor but you could link out to the manufacturer site. Not in excess, up to five links when appropriate from a few of your main pages.
