Random is Ideal, if you form patterns, all that does is indicate to Google your the one artificially making all the links. Just keep it within the edge of relevant and your good. So no "XXX PICS OF THE DAY" or "SUPER JACKPOT BINGO", and no "WE SHIP FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS" those are not good ones rofl!

RE: How does Google read multiple Geo Shape Schema Mark Up?
If there are no errors in the helper tool yer good. I was probably the moron that proposed it not working, but clearly, that's not the case
Some pages I got like 2-3 videos from youtube and the JSON works on that, I guess the confusion I had around your initial inquiry was I was thinking in terms of the organization address or something to that effect.
Not sure if you've played with the article/ blog post schema, but some the similarly categorized objects literally have to have your organization on some approved list of some sort. Otherwise, it fires off a warning in Googles little testing contraption.

RE: Google Indexing
The only time it's ever really hit me hard and fast like that is on Tumblr. with adult content. Once they find out about it, they flip the robot.txt hide switch and you're burnt lol.
But ya like taryn suggested go into Google webmasters and have a look around the property and all the options starting from the messages/mailbox thing within webmasters.

RE: Protecting sitemaps - Good idea or humbug?
From a hacker's perspective, the first order of business is going to be gathering information on the target. does a hacker or someone with malicious intent gain something in obtaining access to your sitemap?
Yes, they do, and that is more information on the layout of your site. How common would there actually be something on the sitemap that could critically expose you to compromise on your VPS/Shared hosting? Um, probably super ultra rare.
But yes there was one time that I was doing an audit for a company and the sitemap did point to a directory that was vulnerable to directory browsing. Fishing around in the directory, I was able to obtain a picture of a PayPal MasterCard front and back because some idiot snapped pictures of it and uploaded it onto the site.
So there are benefits to hiding it, it's relatively easy to do, but if your lazy and don't want to, chances are your good.

RE: Best Practices-Optimize Theme Before Coding or After Coding?
The great thing about Themes is pretty much over 90 something percent of them are under 100 bucks. In all honesty, there's like maybe a handful that is just simply amazing! I personally love Divi. I've tried many themes, the only one I really need outside of Divi is my retro tube for an adult niche.
The problem with a platform like WordPress is that there are a LOT of themes. Which means naturally a LOT of themes will most likely SUCK. If it becomes even slightly a hassle, in the beginning, I would get out dodge and get a better one quick.
Take it from me and my poor experiences trying desperately to make my theme not suck for the first website I ever made. I did eventually but thinking back on it, that was such a torturously miserable painful process. A few traits of themes to avoid:
- Top heavy visual builders
- Ridiculously large amounts of mandatory plugins. (install as few as possible is a great practice to follow) Some sites I have like literally just use Yoast and do quite well.
- Not having some form of responsiveness. With so many optional frameworks easily attached, there is no excuse.
431 premade page layouts, Email popup software Bloom/social share software called Monarch. I would go with either Either that one or just ridiculously godly fast like Generate Press which utilizes varnish.
And in reference to optimizing before or after the process of configuring a theme for your site, it's actually both. Any well optimized site, will involve modifying content frequently and I would definitely suggest optimizing everything you have right away or as quickly as possible

RE: Divi Help!
The time's weird stuff like this occurs for me, is usually when Cloudflare causes issues with it's caching. Naturally, that would be too quick of a solution for my luck, I'm guessing you don't have Cloudflare.
In that case, more than likely it's going to be an issue with a plugin clashing with Divi.

RE: Sitemap generator partially finding list of website URLs
Google not only provides a basic template you could do the sitemap manually if you wished, and this link has Google listing several dozen open source sitemap generators.
If Google Webmaster's can't read the one you generated fully, then clearly an alternate generator should definitely fix that for you. Good luck!

RE: Moz Local Tells Me to Add 2 Photos. I already have tons of photos...
Just to clarify, are you adding them just in posts or specifically using Facebook Business and adding them to your profile photos like in the image shown?
If not give that a try, otherwise, I'd say just move on to optimizing something else and assume your good, it doesn't always read dead accurate.
-
RE: Should we target Outsource and Offshore on same page?
Generally, you shouldn't target more than 2-4 keywords per page. While solid content can eventually rank in several hundred different keywords when creating a post or page on your website you should do so with no more than 4 keywords when theming the content around a thesis or focal point.
So if the two keywords you're inquiring about are within a similar category, it would be best to make one page for both.

RE: On page vs Off page vs Technical SEO: Priority, easy to handle, easy to measure.
On-site is priority number 1. Before you can conduct any off-site, you need to have a solidly built website to direct them to, or they'll simply bounce.
There are niche affiliate marketers such as Income School that rely solely upon on-site SEO for the success of their businesses. While I disagree with their theory of not conducting off-site strategies as a part of my link building efforts, I like the fact they solidify the necessity to focus on your website.
I'm not sure what you mean as far as Technical SEO, I think there are quite a few advanced aspects to both on-site, and off-site SEO, but I haven't seen it categorized separately from the two by itself quite yet, not saying some experts don't, just new outlook to it as of this moment.

RE: Google My Business Multiple Listing
Yeah definitely you can have as many locations as you want you will of course have to verify each one of those addresses with the postcard verification and confirm the code upon receiving it. I would certainly maintain consistency with the business name, using street names at the end to decipher between them.

RE: New algorithm change
No, haven't noticed any fluctuations, I did recently see my impressions increase on a page so I added some custom Infographics and freshened the content.
With the new additions I made on that page I've actually climbed to page one on several key terms. I even got #3 organic and #1 for the map results for "Tucson SEO Onsite" at one point, it fluctuates throughout the day. Perhaps if you did similar and tweaked the page adding to the user experience, yours will react the same and your ranking will improve.

RE: Onpage Optimisation Changes
Wow, so what you're suggesting is not only does keyword density seem to be applicable, but that it varies depending upon the specific keyword?
Wow! If that indeed turns out to be true after the conclusion of your further analysis, that's sounding to potentially be a headache for the SEO world when it comes to onsite lol!

RE: Still no good search results after 2 months of indexation
The thing about this website game regardless of it's intent and mechanism of monetization you have to be capable of not looking at things in terms of time and deadlines, goals. You plant a seed the seed will grow. If you don't water it, it will die. Unfortunately, unlike trees, you can't guarantee nor approximate when and how much fruit it's going to bring in for your harvest if you ever even get that far.
One day, one step at a time, what is it you can do today, to improve the size, and quality of your site. Do the same thing the next day. There is no "My website is complete" It is a certainty the better quality content and design, the better quality and visit times/quantities will be for you.
The more content and pages, the more possibilities and reasons for visitors to appear. Until you have 20 really solid amazing pieces of content on your site, don't stray or go link building. Because what will be the point?
The first time it occurs if you take everyone here's advice it will most likely be MUCH quicker than it took me, because I resisted making content as long as humanely possible like an idiot but this occurence is amazing! You'll eventually produce something Google thinks is godly.
That content could literally be relevant amongst some ridiculously tough key phase, it will just seemingly skyrocket to the first page like it belonged there from the beginning of time and was nailed firmly in place! It's crazy encountering it because you see so often the times in which Google is letting the most ridiculous events occur and make no sense of it.
But then their algorithm will unexpectedly do something brilliant, genuinely rewarding you for your hard work! Don't get used to it! It is rare! but it happens

RE: What is the feeliing of "Here's where our site can help" text links used for conversions?
Bottom line, should the opportunity for conversion be readily available at all times? Absolutely! Should you ever flood links across your websites pages for the purpose of increasing the likeliness they will click the link most likely as a result of human error?
Absolutely not, don't do that. I'm probably misinterpreting the question my bad if I am, but just on the off chance I'm clarifying of coarse! I find that you will get tremendously more value than rushing the monetization. Any sales technique that is initially viewed and interpreted to be a sales gimmick, will most likely fail out the gate..
What my sales training taught me when working for a multi million dollar bank that invested thousands into my education of moving their products and services is that selling complete garbage that offers literally nothing can easily be done! (Nothing horrible just credit card insurance haha.)
About 5% of my sales with that bank came from drive by pitches. So incentive wise, I didn't do so hot in the first 3 months. However, Once I learned the true powerhouse/weaponry, the one two punch of sales was RAPPORT/Rebuttal. Once you refine those 2 skills, It was game on!
On the internet if you master this craft, which most certainly I have not, it is a process that can be entirely automated after much trial and tribulation. MY boy is a Ecig Vape juice vendor, he tells me he actually gets 25% of his sales by literally hitting people up in the chat box when they land on his site. And he gets another 25% from hitting them up AFTER they've made a purchase, which causes many to buy tons more stuff!
In conclusion, gain their trust, get them to humanize you and your products first, sell second. Spam always fail!

RE: Text over image
There are several image ranking factors, as far as a div class overlay on the image, It's essentially going to be looked at by the crawlers as a caption, so it's a benefit to have for sure.
-
RE: Redirects Advice Please
Inside PHPMyAdmin, Check WP-Options and make sure the website in the 2 spots it's entered are correct.
-
RE: Redirects Advice Please
Where I most often see a redirect loop is when someone switches over to CloudFlare on the WordPress platform. If it isn't CloudfFare causing this redirect then the first thing you'll probably want to do is change the .htaccess file name to something else and make sure it's baked up then create a new one. First try this stock base .htaccess:
# BEGIN WordPress <ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L]</ifmodule> # END WordPress
Then you go down the checklist
- Delete the newly created htaccess file and allow WordPress the opportunity to create one on it's own
- Change the name of the plugins folder to temporarily disable plugins to see if that's the cause
- change the name of the active theme folder to force the use of a stock theme.
It will very likely be one of those items causing the redirect. The only other thing it could be is if Wordpress just got relocated and is pointing at a different domain. In which case you would need to change that in PHPMyAdmin under WP-Options.

RE: Cookies disabled pointing to a 404 page
Hmmm... Well that could definitely be a lot of different things. If it's WordPress, I would clear your browser cache for 1 thing. Then I would see if regenerating the PermaLinks fixes it.
If you're not essentially preventing crawlers from crawling your site with 404 not founds, It is unlikely you will encounter any SEO issues. However, I would you certainly want to fix this error and know the cause.
Just go down a checklist or two till you find and pinpoint the problem. That is if it isn't the browser or the permalinks which is what it is a good majority of the time

RE: Google Search Console Not Sending Messages

RE: Page drops from index completely
I had a simlar issue on a couple Wordpress freebie sub domains I made while conducting reputation management for clients. What had ended up happening was The site would index immediately and then 24 hours later be ghosted completely.
Turns out I was submitting the news sitemap that it automatically generated and being that I wasn't in their list of approved news sitemaps, I guess it just ripped everything out, as I'm sure the news sitemap and the regular one had the same pages listed just with more detail on the news one.
I doubt it's the exact same occurrence but if you recently submitted a sitemap, I'd check it closely, as it has been known to trigger a similar problem, at least for me!
-
RE: Cached version of my site is not showing content?
What are you using CloudFlare? If so you'll have to play with the different settings, you might have something interacting badly with your content.
Purge the Cache for starters, then tweak the settings. Remove AMP, uncheck the minified HTML/CSS/Javascript etc.
If you have another type of CDN and want me to look to see if i can find a solution feel free to letme know. Of coarse if your hiding your IP behind it and don't want it leaked as to what CDN, I totally understand.

RE: Moving content form Non-performing site to performing site - wihtout 301 Redirection
I recently had a domain of mine that was primarily just a joke blog that I wasn't trying to make money with expire. I learned the hard way that if you let a domain expire that's a nice little scam trap these web hosts setup to charge you some nonsense 50-100 dollar fee for neglecting the lease.
Unsure of what to do once I had made a similar website but wanted one of the 1500 long word blog's I just said screw it and posted that puppy. Being that the other site was no longer indexed, I encountered no issues and no duplicate content detectors I checked it with detected duplicatecontent.
So you should be good but I would definitely take it off the one page prior to moving it.

RE: What should my key words be for home page?
I think your target keyword should be "Physical Therapy" You should automatically come up for the cities within your geographical location so long as you are in google and the other crucial directories consistently and accurately. Don't listen to the non believers, the Schema Markup can really drive it home as well! You can generate the Schema JSON in Google Structured Markup Helper Tool. Your Chamber of Commerce backlink along with all the DoFollows from core social platforms, the juice will add up if you optimize the profiles well in addition to ranking them and staying active. Now for these low diff takedowns:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy
-
Sport rehabilitaiton
-
Back pain relief
Make Youtube videos, providing authoritative advice, make Infographics to distribute on all the picture share platforms. Embed them both on your 2000 word blog and amazingly helpful advice plus insight on "how to see if your bla bla insurance covers this". If they end up doing their research on your site, and get the process and layout from your site, good chance they'll end up seeking the therapy from you!

RE: Does Google have a separate crawler for Javascript and Content?
Much similar to many of the rules and guidelines by which Google calculates search rankings, they don't openly provide that type of information to the general public, because obviously their users would take advantage of it and manipulate the crawlers for the purpose of altering their rankings.
If you wanted to know something like that for sure, you would probably need to conduct field research doing something extreme like having 100% javascript content in one segment of your site and 100% HTML on another and track which IPs and user agents hit the pages.
However an educated guess of mine believes this:
- The bots that crawl HTML also crawl Javascript. To make separate bots to do individual tasks would be stupid.
- there would be absolutely no benefit nor would the sanitation of the data the crawlers obtain be increased using seperate bots. Because it can be clearly concluded the difference between html and Javascript, and at an automated level as well.
-
RE: PDF - host, link, recreate?
The problem you'll run into with PDFs is generally speaking they aren't optimized for search engines. unfortunately Google's crawlers can read them too so if you're marketing them and ranking organic results, I'd probably ensure any PDFs on the page are compressed in a ZIP file.
DO NOT Copy/paste the content onto the site! Especially if Google's crawlers have already indexed the content on your client's page. If your using a simply drive by affiliate market tactic:
Ideally I'd say making a nice 1-2k word landing page with testimonials, relevant icons, and possibly a sweet video (Wistia or Youtube ideally) if you're going for straight up sales on potential leads.
However according to Rand, usually 5-7 times returning visitors is when you'll finally pull in the cash, so a regularly posting blog with infographics and rich content will probably be your ideal model. Rapport is going to be like 90% of your sales for the most part. And thanks to the internet that can be automated
-
RE: How you do guest posting on behalf of your clients? What do you use in the author bio - your name, client's name or a fake name?
When you're acquiring links for a person or a company you definitely need to be in a position where your client is comfortable with you representing them or their brand. When it comes to Guest blogging you shoot for the ABSOLUTE BEST, and for the highest links you can get!
So if you want to rank for SEO, you get links by answering 200 questions on MoZ, because they're an authority in SEO. You write guest articles for search engine journal, because any piece of content from a well known authority serves as an endorsement.
DO NOT EVER use fake anything for yourself or for someone you represent. Writing is a valuable skill to have, and if you guest post about anything at all, you're going to have to do very SOLID research to be an AUTHORITY.
However I have come to find, you don't have to be a psychologist to write a better article that paints and defines the difference between bipolar I and bipolar II better than anyone formerly had done before! The 3000 word compendium that you gained your source of information on the subject matter, nobody needs to know that was your clients website and onsite SEO you did for them. money in the bank for you, backlinks for your client
Sorry, kinda strayed to the fake name segment and gave it priority so back to your numeric order:
1. What is your outreach process - Do you pitch as a marketing manager or as a subject expert?
on a local level SEO clients can be acquired by ranking in the term city name + SEO. It's actually seemingly easy aside living in a massive metropolis. By doing things as simple as ranking a Youtube channel with tutorials, writing a nice 2000 word local SEO blog. You'll most likely kill your competition. 1.2m population here in Tucson and not one of these guys has a Youtube channel that breaks 100.
In summary, I provide content and that teaches others through my experiences. When it comes to SEO, right or wrong, results and positive client reviews will bring in the crowd.
2. What do you mention in your author bio? I lost count of how many profiles and forum membership sites I've signed up for, many of them vary, tailored specifically to that particular platform, and who my target audience is.
This changes despite selling specifically web design and SEO, for example a profile and blog on ActiveRain or AccountingWeb, you would need to be specifically targeting realtors or CPAs. So I base my blog posts specifically on those markets.
There really isn't a specific template aside simply saying use current pictures, make profile names a nice variance of different target keywords, and whenever possible use 400+ words to make your links contextual.
You'll never need to use a clients name for your offsite/onsite SEO especially if you are winning them links and leads with quality content marketing.
-
RE: Why is my entire page appearing as a video result (and only a video result)?
Nigel brings up an interesting point that sheds light on the importance of content relevance. With the increase of different types of results, business listings, brand/product markup, Articles, Videos, it really solidifies how crucial it is to make sure ALL of your content matches up with the subject.
Even when you do do your best to do everything right, definitely expect Google to throw some curve balls at you. For example I couldn't rank for "Font Awesome Rocks" but apparently, Awesome Rocks got taken down! ROFL

RE: Sitename in Mobile SERPS is Incorrect
If you recently changed it, it sometimes takes a couple days to update properly in Google search results. Otherwise thesolution quite naturally would be to change your Wordpress pages title and description, or hopefully you use yoast because you can change it with that as well. Sounds like Gaston is saying it's already updated so you should be good to go, otherwise change it with either of the 2 options I listed~

RE: Differentiating Franchise Location Names to better optimize locations
Jeff,
If you have fewer than 10 locations, you’ll have to enter them individually.
Businesses with 10 or more eligible locations can add, verify, and manage them in bulk.
According to the Google partners test, if you end up listing less then 10 and want to differentiate them you use things like the street name or if it was like in a mall the malls name etc. IT indicates not to use store numbers. IF you're going to be doing web design or marketing that involves directory listings for entities like bing and Google, I highly suggest certifying for Google Partners, it's free and it will give you some versatility with the PPC bidding alongside SEO organic.
-
RE: Does using Yoast variables for meta content overwrite any pages that already have custom meta content?
I had to make several hundred pages for a video tube at one point. And what I did to expedite the process is use the clone post/page plugin. Then I created a clone with 3 things.
The first thing was the templating for the meta description and title for each video**(naturally I did that with Yoast)**. The second thing I did was create a short code with php to place the page title in several areas using simply [template]. Then for the final automation aspect, I appeased the alt tag necessity with a js script to dynamically add alt tags with the page title on all images.
I don't know what the outcome of the said feature your describing is, however the way you would accomplish your desired end result is by adding a bunch of generic meta title/descriptions with the bulk editor feature of yoast. Naturally skup over the 30 pages, you'll simply need to make a template one time then copy it to clipboard and paste paste paste like a madman! Wont even 5 minutes with 200 pages.

RE: Difference keyword and co-occurence
A Keyword is a word that a Website Owner/Marketer is attempting to rank in search engines for. The purpose of showing up at the top of results generally is motivated by money or financial gain.
Co-occurence is a term used to describe words that are closely related to a particular term or Keyword. For example these words are similar and thus considered to be closely related or a **Co-occurence **of an instrument:
- Guitar
- Surgeons Tools
- Violin
- Catalyst
- Flute

RE: Drop in Bounce Rate in Google Analytics
Well generally speaking , the lower your bounce rate the better. As Rand stated in a White board Friday, that isn't always the case. For example when the goal of the landing page you've designing is to get a conversion, you want your customers payment and then you want to send them on their way. If it takes 10 minutes and 5 pages, then there is something wrong with your site and you would naturally need to correct it.
But in many cases if your visitor found a piece of content to continue browsing through your page due to the first page being compelling enough not to leave after initially viewing it, that's a good thing.
As to pinning down the cause of this sudden drop, I think the best approach is by using either Google Analytics or another tracking analytical tool to review the traffic to the page and focus in on the most landed on pages and determine what pages they're going to afterwards onsite. That will have your answer.
-
RE: How can i build back link for competitor website
Once you sign up for your MoZ 30 day trial click MoZ Pro, and then link explorer on the MoZ Nav bar. Type in your competitor's url and it will show you all of their links. Depending on what kind of link it is determines if you are going to want to move in on acquiring the backlink, and how to go about doing it.
I recently wrote on article on this particular subject matter, and effective ways to
Steal Your Competitors Backlinks. -
RE: How do you add meta data to dynamic pages?
When you say meta tags is there something in particular you're wanting to do? Meta Tags accomplish a number of different tasks. Some as simple as a text description in Google search, others will make Twitter Cards and large thumbnails for Facebook's open graph. Some can tell pages not to index certain
urls with robot crawlers.
How specifically you add them in your content is quite simple. Almost always meta tags will be placed in the header like say the meta description for a post on how you add meta data to dynamic pages:
name="description" content="This page is about how to properly use meta tags on dynamic pages or any page" />

RE: Effects of a bad link linking to a image
Your gtg for the most part when it comes to images. In Rand's Image SEO White Board Friday, he states images are graded for SEO on a more traditional style. So if it gets tossed around and embedded hundreds of times in bad web property neighborhoods all is well, for the time being at least!

Btw very beautiful site! I'm impressed!
-
RE: Keyword research and relevancy
I agree with what Andy stated, it goes along with the White Board Friday where you wouldn't make multitudes of pages to cover the span of different spelling or singular and plural keywords. Instead it's better to go in with a top key phrase in mind, a main focus query, and make the content really long and an end all in which answers the visitors questions.

RE: CraftCMS
CRAFT Content Management System:
Pros:
Godly fast load times
Lightweight and versatile
Yoast equivalent plugin : SEOmaticCons: Requires a higher end user which will involve more coding
Newer and less popular CMS than something like Wordpress, which means less themes and additions are available.
Utilizes Twigs which is a pain initially to learn the dynamics of the directories and how it's mappedConclusion:
If you got time to burn learning a new CMS, go with October CMS, that one is pretty sweet!

RE: Ranking fluctuation
It is normal for your position to fluctuate to different spots during certain times of the day. I don't think it is going to be something you can really pin down to a specific aspect of your SEO like you could say a kicker on a pair in Texas Hold'em.
GENERAL FIX FOR FLUCTUATING RANKS:
I've found having premo Infographics, viral topic relevant Youtube Videos created by you from your channel embedded on the money site as well as several dozen other sites, 2-4 thousand words of engaging content linked out to high authorities and internally, and a ridiculous amount inbound links from major International NEWS authorities seems to really drop a 500 pound anchor on position #1
-
RE: Topic research and content suggestion
I'm not sure what "Content Suggestions" is, I could be blind and I'm just not seeing it on the Navbar or something. To the best of my knowledge if you're referring to this "Keyword Magic Tool" thing that SEM Rush has, I don't thing MOZ has a comparable tool. Then again I've never really had difficulty identifying and selecting keywords to target on my own.

RE: Mysterious ave pageload time spikes since major redesign

RE: Move a Wordpress Site to HTTPS with Bluehost
In the sense of SEO, to the best of my knowledge SSL certificates, and methodization of acquiring whether, paid, provided by CloudFlare, granted by Certbot, or directly implemented with Apache using conf file, whatever method utilized will have the same benefits to your SEO.
The instructional seems to be basic and should work. I personally use cloud flare and add their generated SSL cert to have 2 way encryption and the boost to my speed with their CDN/Proxy is amazing, never had a complaint
