Good organic rankings but no shopping rankings
-
My site www.hair1direct.co.uk comes up well in the organic rankings but when I select shopping in Google it does appear. Why would this be?
Thanks

Hey Tom, although everything you're proposing below in regards to SEO is great, and should be done anyway, I don't think that's the reason you're seeing poor (or no) performance in Google Shopping.
Disclaimer, my knowledge of Google Product Search is limited to my experience in the U.S. There may be a whole different set of requirements for the UK.
Over the last few months Google Product Search has been rolling out additional requirements and perhaps their most recent update(s) affected you. I can't say for sure, but I'd make sure you are providing every attribute possible that they request, even the 'suggested' attributes. Additionally, make sure you are not providing more than one record for each Unique Product Identifier. Glancing at your site, I could not find any product SKU / UPC, etc. associated with your products, but that doesn't mean you're not providing it to Google.
See here the the most recent update: Google Products Search Feed Specs/Policy Changes
Hope this helps.

Hi
I've read the Google SEO book and don't see any reference to Google shopping or Merchant centre. What part specifically answers my question?
Thanks
James

Hi. Yes I have setup a Google Merchant Account and I have been submitting data every night using a cron job for the last 6 months or so.
Thanks

Page keywords are words within your page content that occur most frequently. Having too many keywords within a page can be detrimental to your sites SEO whilst not having the right keywords is also not good. Striking the right balance between keyword relevancy and usage is an important SEO undertaking.

It is not always used (typically the snippet is related to the search term) but it is important to ensure your page meta description is readable and relevant to your page content.

Your meta description tag is 100 characters long. Your meta description tag should ideally be a maximum of 154 characters.
Your page should contain a H1 tag which describes the content of the page. Search engines may place a weighting on your indexing based on the content of the H1 tag.

Page ranked then disappeared
Recently there have been a a couple of pages form my website that ranked well, in top 5 for a couple of days then they disappear suddenly, they are not at all seen in google search results no matter how narrow I search for them. I checked my search console, there seems to be no issues with the page, but when I check google analytics, I do not get any data from that page since the day it disappeared, and it does not even show up on the 'active pages' section no matter I keep the url open in multiple computers.

Ranking fluctuation
According to Miles Rank tracking I have a keyword that is fluctuating by 5 or 6 positions in a 24-hour period every time it goes 10 down to 15 and back to 10 again with very little stopping point in between and keeps fluctuating like that. As far as I know the website is stable it uses Magento 1.9 and is a fixed category page. The page URL is relatively new as we migrated from an old site with a different URL structure I added 301s at server level from the old page URL to the new one. There is only two things I can think that can be the problem -

1. Lack of links directly to the page (there is literally only one or two)
2. Loading speed problem But I don't see any of these would cause a 5 position fluctuation regularly every day. But do you have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.0 -
Huge ranking difference between google and bing
I am trying to rank for the keyword "trash bags" I did a lot of on-page optimization and link building. We started ranking #2 on bing and yahoo but google seems to be stubbornly fluctuating between being as high as 20 and as low as 45 and even dropped our rankings for a couple of weeks. Is there any need for concern if google is acting so different from bing/yahoo?

Rank tracker and Rankings report differs
Hi all Is this normal? I have set up a campaign for a site. Tracking a variety of keywords. For one of them, which is a quite important keyword I've been working on I've moved down one step in my rankings report. This is first of all weird because my on page optimization went from grade c to a, and even weirder beacuse if I run Rank Tracker tool on the keyword and the URL I see that I've moved up 6 steps, to 15 in Google. Kinda makes it hard to grasp if I'm on the right path or not! (I've checked and they are both results on google.dk, same URL and same keyword - exact)

Non primary domain ranking higher in searches
Hey Guys, Hopefully I can explain this so that you can understand, let me know if you need me to clarify any particular points. I have a primary domain for my website, however someone has also pointed their domain at my server that has nothing to do with us or our website. Typing a keyword in a search engine will list our website as this has been crawled but it's listing the domain as their domain and not our primary. Is this because their domain has greater value then our primary? What's the best course of action to resolve the issue? The reason I ask is because the domain could potentially have a negative effect on business. If I setup hosting for this second domain and setup a redirect on it, all the traffic that is trying to reach us via respective search terms are then directed away from our site. I have been in contact with the domain administrator but they are yet to reply to my correspondence. Has anyone experienced something similar and come up with a good way to resolve it? Thanks guys, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If microsoft (bing) owns yahoo, then why are the rankings different?
Same keywords, different positions of different companies. Aren't they using the same algo for their rankings?

Open Source Shopping Cart or BigCommerce?
Hello, I have a client who is waivering between switching to an open source shopping platform such as Magento, or choosing a "more SEO Friendly" cart such as BigCommerce.I would love to get an opinion. They would like to control the data (open source) but existing platforms dont necessarily support some SEO efforts, opinions and wisdom welcome. Thanks!

Too many 301 redirects - good or bad?
Hi, Currently, page A is redirecting to page B. I am in the process of developing new site for the same domain and this time page B will be redirected to page C. This is gonna happen on many pages. Is it correct or should i adopt some other strategy? Will it have adverse effect on the speed of my site? Page A -----> Page B ------> Page C Regards, Shailendra
