-
i use the Bing SEO Toolkit.
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-interview-the-bing-team
You need a microsoft webserver to set it up
i would not exclued them in robots, as you will still be leaking PR thought the broken links, you need to find and fix them
-
Update on Blog situation:
Thanks
-
Yes thats what i believe.
I find ASP.MVC is the best for SEO, both clean code and seo friendly urls.
but if its not possible, what i advise is to create your landing pages with clean code and use the CMS where you need it.
-
Great thanks,
With Wordpress it seems to come up over and over again anytime you research Wordpress - people seme to run into problems with it.

The biigest concern is the un-necessary redirects and broken links, in such high numbers you are thouing away a lot of rank, each 301 loses you link juice.
By un-necessary I mean that the link is internal, it can be pointed directly at the correct page, there is no need to 301.
Matt cutts has confinmed that 301's leak,
They have to otherwise you would get internal loops.
going by the Goolge Algorithm realsed years ago, it seem that they leak 15%
And of case the broken links would leak 100%
fixing them has got to give you a boost.
There is also invalid markup, and many other violations in lower numbers.
-
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the analysis.
Did you see anything in the index or main structure that caused any issues do you think?
Regards

You have many broken hyperlinks, 851 one of themYou have a lot of un-necessary redirects, are you using WordPress?
There are over 1,000 of these each one leaking link juice, add them all to the nroken hyperlinks you are losing a lot of rank.here Are a few examples, not the difference in the trailing slash "/"The link to "http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog" has resulted in HTTP redirection to "http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog/".The link to "http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog/index.php/author/trustdeed123/" has resulted in HTTP redirection to "http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog".you have canonicals pointing to pages that dont existThe page 'http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog/index.php/page/2/' links to a canonical URL 'http://www.trustdeedscotland.net/blog/page/2/' that returned the status code '404'.You also have more then one cannonical tags in your pagesThere are many others also. These are common errors i find in Wordpress sitesError 3 'Warning 15

All good now

Hey thanks for the tip

Hi tdsnet,
You clearly have made a tremendous amount of changes with your site. Any time you "kick up this much dirt", your rankings may bounce a bit over the next 30 days. Google does not crawl your site all at once, but in pieces. As each page is crawled, the ranking of other pages on your site is affected since you likely link to your home page and other important pages.
A few things to consider:
-
you wont truly know your rankings for a month
-
dropping a single rank (from 2 to 3 as you shared) may not be related to your site at all. A competitor could have acquired new links or otherwise made improvements to their page.
-
overall the changes you listed are positive but there are a few which concern me. It sounds like you may have misinterpreted some SEO guidelines. For example, you do not have to 301 all 404 links to your site. You should ensure your site's links do not generate a 404. You should also redirect any old links to the most relevant page on your site. If you delete a page and no longer offer similar content on your site, it is perfectly fine to let the page 404. Be sure your 404 page offers your site's navigation and a Search function so it is helpful.
-
you also mentioned changes like "created one or two external links on pages". This sounds kind of forced. Like you did it to improve your SEO ranking, in which case it would not be recommended. You want to naturally link out as appropriate. Sometimes that means no external links and other times you could offer 10.
If you can share your URL it would be helpful, as we are otherwise left to offering generic advice. Please also share the keywords which you are concerned about. If it helps to know, the content in Q&A answers is not visible to search engines for 2 weeks, and you can edit your own posts. You can add the URL, then when you receive satisfactory feedback you can remove it.

sure can
-
Sure, can I PM you a link if that's ok? Thanks

A few thinks,
Keyword density is a myth, there is no such thing. As long as you are not keyword stuffing and looking un-natrual i would not of changed the pages.
Too many links should not be a problem if they are internal links. There is no penalty for too many links. In fact linking to as many internal pages as you can from the home page is a good thing, as long as they all link back.
301’ng old pages causing 404 errors, i would only do this if the page had external links. And then you can not be lazy, you need to link them to a relevant page, simply linking them all to the home page will not work, Bing for one has said they will be ignored.
if they are internal links, then i would remove them. A link that 404's is a 100% waste of link juice, A 301 also leaks some link juice.
Is it posible to get a url. i will tell you if you have any problems

GWT Soft 404 count is climbing. Important to fix?
In GWT I am seeing my mobile site's soft 404 count slowly rise from 5 two weeks ago to over 100 as of today. If I do nothing I expect it will continue to rise into the thousands. This is due to there being followed links on external sites to thousands of discontinued products we used to offer. The landing page for these links simply says the product is no longer available and gives links to related areas of our site. I know I can address this by returning a 404 for these pages, but doing so will cause these pages to be de-indexed. Since these pages still have utility in redirecting people to related, available products, I want these pages to stay in the index and so I don't want to return a 404. Another way of addressing this is to add more useful content to these pages so that Google no longer classifies them as soft 404. I have images and written content for these pages that I'm not showing right now, but I could show if necessary. But before investing any time in addressing these soft 404s, does anyone know the real consequences of not addressing them? Right now I'm getting 275k pages indexed and historically crawl budget has not been an issue on my site, nor have I seen any anomalous crawl activity since the climb in soft 404s began. Unchecked, the soft 404s could climb to 20,000ish. I'm wondering if I should start expecting effects on the crawl, and also if domain authority takes a hit when there are that many soft 404s being reported. Any information is appreciated.

What is the optimum schema for a Website and how important is it really is for SEO?
Hey everyone,
Technical SEO | | artdivision
As you all probably has seen Google has changed their structure testing tool and alongside that has also changed what is considered as valid and not valid. I have been struggling with this question for quite a while now where opinions are really split. **1. How important is Schema for SEO? **
2. How far should you go Schema'ing your website pages? From the one hand i can see how it can be easier for a BOT to read a code that has proper "road signs" (our schemas markups), on the other hands, Google is already extremely clever is working out what is the header, sidebar or footer as well as review and or a blog posts (especially for those of us who use Wordpress. Would love to know if someone has seen a "Like to Like" show case with schemas and/or have some factual information regarding what should or shouldn't be done when it comes ot Schema. Dan. x1aw0 -
For keyword relevance, how important is proximity to beginning of the line and/or page?
A client and I are debating between two taglines, which both contain an important keyword phrase. This tagline will exist as the H1 on the homepage, as well as in the header with the logo on internal and landing pages. The tagline structure is either: [keyword phrase] Solutions or Single Source [keyword phrase] Can anyone weigh in on which is better? Thanks much!!

Why are URLs like www.site.com/#something being indexed?
So, everything after a hash (#) is not supposed to be crawled and indexed. Has that changed? I see a clients site with all sorts of URLs indexed like ... http://www.website.com/#!category/c11f For the above URL, I thought it was the same as simply http://www.website.com/. But they aren't, they're getting indexed and all the content on the pages with these hash tags are getting crawled as well. Thanks!

Is Pinging important?
Somebody suggested me to ping my website's backlinks using services like www.Pingler.com. Firstly, I don't know what 'pinging' is and why is it important. Secondly, Should I go for it? Lastly, what kind of links should I ping regularly? I researched on google and got a feeling that only blogs should be pinged because they are updated regularly. Is that so?

Well, I need some help, advice, something.
Hey all, I'm new to the SEOmoz thing but I like it so far. I think I have my site listing so messed up that it's effecting my rank. I have 3 domains. 1.) rt112media.com 2.) route112media.com 3.) route112.net. Each domain was purchased through GoDaddy.com and still remain there. I have my own hosting account which I was registered as rt112media.com with route112media.com and route112.net listed as add on domains. Technically, I would like for my main site to be route112media.com for everything. However when I registered the site as rt112media.com I didn't know the issues I would have as far as different domains so I registered with rt112media.com as my main domain name. Anyways, as of now I have rt112media.com as my main domain through my cpanel hosting.I have both domains route112media.com and route112.net set for 301 wildcard redirects to rt112media.com on my hosting account and my GoDaddy account. When I started my WMT account I didn't really know which domain to use cause I figured I could link them all to one. So, I signed up as routet12media.com. After a little while I realized it was not recieving anything because everything was being redirected to rt112media.com Anyways both addresses have been crawled and indexed so they are showing as two. So, I requested to change the route112media.com address to rt112media.com in WMT. That was about 2 weeks ago and it is still pending request. I'm not having further problems with WMT because of the www.rt112media.com vs http://rt112media.com. I am the verified owner of both but I can not switch the www.rt112media account to show the non www. account as the main one because I have the other pending. My site is still being crawled as 2 versions rt112media.com and route112media.com. So what is my best option? And what would be the worst cause scenario if I wanted to start completely over using route112media.com as my main domain with hosting and all. Sorry this was so long I just wanted to explain my situation. I'm lost. Any advice would be appreciated! http:/rt112media.com
