Down here, we use RSSeo since it's almost an all-inclusive plugin for Joomla!
Now, initially I thought it would pre-populate the meta description with unique content as well as change the titles to pick up some relevant page info, but no dice there.
After tweaking with it, it turns out that it will completely create a separate index (hence the index.php prefix when using K2 and RSSeo) which could possibly pull some link juice away.
However, it seems that all that needed to be done there was just utilize the RSSeo redirects (also included under the Extend option) and all duplicated pages in the K2 index were 301'd over to the index.php portion.
RSSeo gives much more manageability (IMHO) because you can uniquely attribute appropriate meta titles, description and even add keywords (not really big on that, but hey, I'm old-fashioned).
Whatever your choice is make sure that before you install your SEO plugin, be sure that your page was already indexed (if you are not familiar with the plugin so that you won't be penalized by the SE's in case you make a mistake) or if you are familiar with it, plug it in and wait for the clicks to roll on through!

SH404SEF and AceSEF seem to be the two most favored SEO extensions for Joomla.
SH404SEF is a pure SEO extension. It focuses on core SEO and the author is a SEOmoz reader.
AceSEF offers a lot of extra functionality outside of the core SEO. The extra functionality is useful such as internal linking, site maps, etc. but those features can also be obtained from other extensions.

I used AceSEF for a few joomla sites I have built, does the job but can't really comment how good it is compared to the others. The free version puts backlinks/ads on your page, but since it GPL you can go in and remove the links from the code.... if you know where to look
edit: the real problem is finding if its compatible with the other extensions you are using, or if the seo mod you use has an add on for that extensions, and how much that cost.

Site Launching, not SEO Ready
Hi, So, we have a site going up on Monday, that in many ways hasn't been gotten ready for search. The focus has been on functionality and UX rather than search, which is fair enough. As a result, I have a big list of things for the developer to complete after launch (like sorting out duplicate pages and adding titles that aren't "undefined" etc.). So, my question is whether it would be better to noindex the site until all the main things are sorted before essentially presenting search engines with the best version we can, or to have the site be indexed (duplicate pages and all) and sort these issues "live", as it were? Would either method be advisable over the other, or are there any other solutions? I just want to ensure we start ranking as well as possible as quickly as possible and don't know which way to go. Picking a URL co.uk vs .net vs .biz which is best for SEO?
Hi I was always told that you only want a .co.uk or a .com is this still true? I am setting up an ecommerce site and the ideal .co.uk is gone! Am I better to have a longer ulr with maybe a hifen or a uk in it or is it ok to have a .biz or a .net these days? You help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks James

Best Pracice to Obsolete a Blog
Hi, I have a blog that has thousands of URL, the blog is a part of my site. I would like to obsolete the blog, I think the best choices are 1. 404 Them: Problem is a large number of 404's. I know this is Ok, but makes me hesitant. 2. meta tag no follow no index. This would be great, but the question is they are already indexed. Thoughts? Thanks

Call tracking and Local SEO
I am the in house SEO/Web for a multi-branch/multi-state company and I am having a hard time tracking the amount of calls that are coming off of our site to the many branches. I am wondering if there are any tips for use call tracking numbers without negatively impacting my local SEO results? In one of the webinars they touched on image replacement and also that it some situations it might be out to just use the tracking numbers.
