I am looking for a link building service, recommendations?

I am looking for a link building service, are there any recommendations or tips I need to consider. With so much to sift through on the web I figured I could get some good advise from the Moz community. Thanks!

That was a great post inhouse.... if you add a little more it might make a good youmoz post.
-
BTW, do some research online and checkout SEO rankings (such as topseos.com) for some prospects. Have them submit a proposal and talk to them in depth about what they will do. Even if you can't afford one, you still get an idea of the process and what they offer.

There are two type of links (speaking in general terms). There are the quality one-way links you get from quality sites, and there are the spammy links you can by generating content of little value, or just spam techniques.
I. Quality one-way links
- You either get these by: creating unique and useful content that people in the relevant industry will recognize, appreciate; or, buy them (i.e sponsored reviews and such). If you have a creative streak, and know your customers, you can create content that serves as "fun facts," basically useful bits of information that a user of the site will need in order to make an informed decision. This can be in the form of infographics, bulleted lists, or very concise guides.
Pros: each link is worth many times more than a lower quality link
Cons: Unless you get creative and spend time planning, these links can be extremely difficult to get. In fact, you will likely have to engage in some sort of quid pro quo, which is risky given the current post-Penguin landscape. In addition, if you are an online business, and you are competing with multi-million dollar companies (many of whom are paying for links to rank but have much higher domain authority and benefit from "big brand bias"), you cannot really compete as far as buying quality links. It essentially becomes a form of PPC. And, if that is the case, you may as well hire an experience offshore consultant via Odesk or Vworker, and spend the money on long-tail keywords that convert.
II. Lower quality links
- Any of the following fall into this category: article submissions, mass bookmarks, mass directory submissions, blog comments, forum postings.
Pros: you can get tons of them at relatively little cost. If you really want to save money, and you are knowledgeable about SEO, you can hire a few ICs through vworker or Odesk, and tell them what to do.
Cons: Many of these links add little value for what you spend, they are not a reliable way of achieving solid SEO success, and at worse may result in a penalty. NONETHELESS, it wouldn't hurt to add a reasonable amount of these links so you have a more varied "link profile." You have to be very careful, if you get aggressive, you WILL set off a spam filter.
III. Things to consider when deciding on a company
-
If a U.S based company is offering to improve your rankings, and they are going to use methods that generate the lower quality links (i.e article submissions, directory submissions, etc.), you are better off hiring an off-shore company to do it at a lower price.
-
Because U.S based companies know they can't compete with off-shore SEOs when it comes to low quality links, they try to set themselves apart by doing quality link building. This will likely cost you an arm and a leg if you work with a reputable company.
Bottom line:
It really depends on your resources. If you are planning to spend under $1K a month, hire an offshore SEO company so they do a range of the lower quality links. Then, spend the time to generate some quality content on your own, and try submitting them as guest blog posts to relevant sites.
REMEMBER, EVEN IF A HIGH-END SEO COMPANY BUILDS QUALITY LINKS FOR YOU , NO ONE KNOWS YOUR PRODUCTS/BUSINESS THAN YOU DO. THEREFORE, NO ONE IS MORE QUALIFIED TO CREATE QUALITY LINKBAIT LIKE YOURSELF.

Link building for a non-linkable site?
Hello, I am trying to zone in on a link building strategy for a non-linkable site. What I mean by non-linkable is I have a construction site. It's a family owned and operated small business. Our clients are farmers and older people usually. We go do a job, do it right the first time, and leave. Basically even if a couple of people who link to me for some weird reason, this is no way in the realm of 6,000 that my main competition has. I have tried to get as many quality citation resources as possible by using get listed, and white spark. My domain authority is only 16 though, so I must be able to increase this somehow. I have listed with Google +, Bing, Yahoo and every other major citation I could find. So now with trying too increase links with other ideas. I read somewhere to donate to charitable organizations, but if they link back to me as a donor, in an unrelated field, isn't that spammy like? So a construction site donating to a disease website, and then getting a backlink in return, does that look weird. It just seems like there are so many rules that I do not want to mess something up. I do not want get spammy links, but not sure if citations count as links so I am doing a win-win thing? Thanks for any tips Chris

A few questions about link building?
1. Is it worth gaining more then 1 link on a website when link building, for example if I did a guest post on a blog, is it worth doing another guest post on the same blog linking to the same website? So 2 guest posts on 2 blogs, or 4 guest posts on 4 blogs? 2. When building links through guest blogging, you have two options, a link in the byline and a link in the content. Will a link in the content have more benefit then in the byline as its surrounded by relevant content? 3. Does having a link higher up the page have more benefit then one lower down?

How many nofollow links should we build to have a natural link profile
Hi guys, As with many link builders we have been building lots of dofollow links for our site, so many that mainly our incoming links are dofollow. Some pages have 99.5% dofollow external links which I know is not very natural. In your experience in terms of percentage how much should you have in terms of nofollow external links in your link profile. I noticed SEOMoz has about 12-13% nofollow external links, shall I go with this figure? Thanks guys. David

Link Building Strategy Advice
Hi, I was wondering what everyone's general strategy is for link building. We're doing it all ourselves manually (i.e. not paying $5 for 100,000 links) and are using the Site Explorer tool to find links to competitors and related websites. The majority of sites are blogs and directories which ask for payment ($50 per month for example). We're obviously looking for free links as well but we're finding that pretty much every site wants something in return (cash or reciprocal link) - unless the content is amazing, why would anyone link to another site without an incentive? We're focussing heavily on content and writing articles, blogs, press releases every week but the subject matter isn't always exciting enough for someone to really want to link to it naturally. Thoughts?

Looking at Page Authority of a link to our website... what Page Authority number should we use in deciding the link is junk?
What are the Page Authority ranges? 1. Excellent link 2. Moderate 3. Total junk link Of course you look at the anchor text you can use, how many links are on the site, how often it is cached. Thoughts?

Is there a tool that looks at an existing domain and scores how spammy its link graph is?
We are building a report for a customer and want to do an independent analysis of the domain to see if it is sketchy. Where sketchy is defined by artificial content, link building activity, etc?
