What is going on with Dmoz?
-
Does Dmoz links still have impact as a high quality link?
-
Definitely submit (it's a high quality link). However, do not have any hopes. Spend 5-10 minutes doing your submission in the right category. If you are a regional business, don't forget to submit in your regional category. That works really well, only if your contact page has the physical business address listed as well as in the whois (Yes, the editors check).
Submit it, Forget it. If you get a link. Celebrate.

Right, most of the time you won't get a response when you apply. But, there are some smaller and less commercial categories where I have heard of people getting approved within the last 18 months or so, so it's not a lost cause.
Definitely not worth more than 10-15 minutes of your time. Move on to greener pastures...

I dunno that I'd even apply to be an editor. DMOZ is basically a link club, and a very exclusive one at that. It's a good idea to apply for a link but your application may never get reviewed and, even if it does, you might get rejected anyways and never find out (unless you have a pal who is an editor).
And all that drama for a single one-way link...

It's nothing more than a solid link. Don't hinge your strategy on getting in, few of us do nowadays in competitive niches. Apply to be an editor and move on with your life...

How important is dmoz?
I am just wondering. I don't know much about it. One of our competitor is ranking well and is the only one in our niche regitered with Dmoz. It has a clean back link profile, with all natural links, no exact anchor problems, but not that many links. Website is quite thin (ecommerce) but seems to be liked by google since the recent updates. Do we know if dmoz i one of the reason they rank well? If I needed to merge their site with mine, should I take it into consideration? Or is outdated and does not matter that much anymore? Both page rank is 2, my link profile is not as good.

Is guest posting going the way of paid blog links?
As the Penguin update continues to change the way sites do SEO, many have moved towards guest posting as a "white hat" means of getting links from legitimate related sites. Now, admittedly, the content that is being posted via guest blogging seems to be much higher than the crap that was being posted on article directories and such. You also don't get the duplicate content like you did with the spun articles and mass submissions. But, guest blogging is becoming as ubiquitous as the paid blog links (i.e payperpost, etc.). I for one, have used guest posting, although I am not 100% sold on the results. It seems that with the increase of guest blog networks, these links are becoming as easy to get as the article directory links. Doesn't that lessen the SEO value of the links? And here the question that is always pestering: If you have quality content, why would you ever place it on someone else's site? This is the meat of the discussion: Shouldn't guest blogging be limited to unique opportunities (i.e a VERY established guest blogger in your niche)? Or is it okay to post content on as many related legitimate blogs as you can? Thoughts...ideas....

2 links going to same domain but different pages
Hi, How is the link juice distributed when you have 2 links in the same article but they go to different pages on the same domain? I know some say if 2 links go to the same page in an article then only the first link passes juice. Would it be better to have 2 articles each having 1 link or 2 articles each having 2 links?

Getting into DMOZ for my coaching site
Hello, Before I submit to DMOZ, I'm wondering if my site is one that would get indexed: www.bobweikel.com Also, if you have any hints beyond what I can read at DMOZ I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to submit and then after several months get rejected.

Making deep links to your page on BBB or DMOZ - Effective or waste of time?
Hi, Has anyone tried making links to a deep links to a page on an external site (like dmoz or the bbb) which has a link to your website? Of course, you might wonder "it depends on the type of link" you make to this larger site. Let's say it's a link (without no-follow) on a forum or blog comment - low-quality but on a decent site. Anyone think this may have some benefit to increase the chance / rate that your own link from another site will be indexed more and provide more benefit? A dmoz link is great, but it's on the backpages because it's a huge site, opensiteexplorer hardly indexes dmoz links. Regards,
