Is using photos of people to market your ecommce a good idea? Do you think people relate more?
-
So I noticed all the leading competitors in our market are using photos of people on their home pages to market products.. While we are using a simple but eye catching design with no photos of people but only produts.

This blog does a nice job showing the effect of having people with different emotions, and pointing and looking towards and away from the product. I know it isn't quite what you asked, but if you do add people, this could give you a little extra. Eye Tracking Studies

I think it has a lot to do w/ your industry and product. Personally, we have shied away from images of people because our community of shoppers are diverse, and we feel that showing certain images of people, rather than the product itself, would limit the image of our brand. But again, this depends on your industry and product.
I agree that testing w/ Google analytics is a good idea to view bounce rates if you decide to try it out.

As Irving said, you will need to test and see if how your audience/demographic responds. I will say as a general practice people in the picture does a lot better than just product pictures. I have tested this on a few websites and always had a good uplift in both conversion and CTR from the main call to action with good pictures of people. You just have to make sure you choose the right type of "people" for your picture.

Set up Google website optimizer (it's free) and do some A/B testing on your homepage to see which images get better click thru and lower the bounce rate. You'll be surprised how much of a variation you may see in terms of conversion rate.
All sites look different so there are too many factors that come into play to be able to just say "yes images of people will convert better" so test and let the user pick the winner.

What tool can I use to find the top traffic-driving keyword for a batch of pages from multiple sites?
I thought I might be able to use Ahref's Batch Analysis for this, but that just gives stats on backlinks. I have a several lists of thousands of pages scraped for particular sets of keywords, but what I need is some way to automate fetching the biggest keyword that each page ranks for - biggest being the keyword that is estimated to drive the most organic traffic. Is there a tool out there that does something like this?

Should I use an informative outbound link when trying to market a service?
Having outbound links seems like a marketing no-no as you don’t want people clicking away from your website. However, if the link provides great information (at the end of your content) that explains and markets a service that you’re offering, is it okay to have that outbound link?

I am looking to find the top pages based on traffic volume on my competitors websites, does anyone know of any good resources?
I want to know how which pages on my competitors websites are the most popular based on the traffic volume. I do not care how many links or directed to that page or any other metric. Only thing I am looking for is the traffic volume. It would also be nice to know the length of time spent on that page.

Market Samurai
I'm a complete newbie at this so please bear with me, I'm using the free trial version of Market Samurai and I was just researching some keywords and the figures were off from google adword and MS. Is this due Google banning MS about a year ago? Because from what I've read appantely they get their SEOC figures from Bing? Which would defeat me logging in with my adwords account in the MS program right? I'd appreciate the help guys. Thank you in advance.

One client - 2 domains / same business - good or bad idea?
This is a follow up to a previous question actually: My client has one domain that has 'hardwood flooring' in it and one that has 'concrete polishing' in it - both services they offer. **Would it be wise (for seo purposes) to have them both point to ONE domain (more general of course) ** **- They only have a few local competitors that aren't doing anything to rank well. ** **- They aren't trying to rank nationally. ** If the smart thing to do is to have them point to one (more general) domain using a 301 direct will there traffic drop significantly? (at least for a short time) Does it matter if they continue to keep the existing domains they are using now on their literature, business cards, etc. and let them continue pointing to the new domain or should they really start promoting the new domain name? (They do NOT want to do this). My only concern is saving them time and money by not having to build links, submit articles, social media, on and on for two different sites OK, that's like 3 questions Thank you VERY much for any thoughts or opinions on the matter! 🙂 Have a great week everybody! Using Semantic Language to rank, how much stock do you put into this? (LSI)
In theory, analyzing the top results for a given phrase and comparing the common words and phrases would indicate what google considers relative language to the query. Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) was and still is a buzz phrase for some SEOs. But how much stock do you give to the idea that if you can determine the common language for top rankers and then duplicate that language and density of common words that your website will then rank for that query you desire? Has anyone here tested the theory of using semantic language from the results themselves to better rank?

Can you track multiple domains with the same key words and not use up your keyword limit?
I have roughly 7 domains that I am trying to monitor with the same set of keywords. Is there a way to do this without using up your keyword limit. They are the same words just different sites.
