Has anyone had problems with thier google maps page after the google plus intergration?
-
About a month ago Google contacted one of my clients to inform them that the Google places is discontinued and their Google plus page will be the new Google places. They gave my client an $100 adwards credit for adwords express so their location will still show up for their business name during the change from Google places to Google plus..
When you type in the business in a local area or on a GPS now.. It is no where to be found. You have to know the address to get directions or go there on a mobile devices.
The Google plus page for all of these locations is not currently showing up either.
I have contacted Google and Once again something has been released without implementing it correctly. No one seems to know what is going on... after talking to three people.
Does anybody know what is going on ???? This is a huge deal when being a local company.

Hi John,
I wonder if you will find your issue described in Mike Blumenthal's latest post:
There has been considerable fallout from the changeover to Google+ Local. Perhaps you will see your situation described in the above.

Yeah, I think in the last month there have been tons of problems going on with Google Local pages.
Previously people had just been creating + pages for their companies and now with the Places page turning into + pages, a lot of companies now have multiple + pages showing up on their website. This is hurting both Google+ and the new local pages.
I've seen this happen a lot in the last month and have had to work with a few clients as well on the issue. Hopefully in the next month or so, these issues will be addressed. -
I have sent you a private message with the details... Thanks for the reply!

Hey John, unfortunately, we could flip this question on it's head and ask, has anyone not had problems with the Google places Google Plus changes, in the UK at least.
The thing I am seeing though is that it seems to be settling down a bit and the duplicate google+ page that was created after our Google places page got shut down (and we already had a Google+ page) has been merged with my brand page so... it seems to be getting better.
Can you give an example? The business name or some such? Local is not my big area but happy to take a look and see if anything jumps out at me from the ones I have dealt with so far.

Google detects wrong information to compnay's knowledge graph on search index - Please help
This issue is about website properties' information showing on Google's search index with brand keywords. We have 8 different domains that operated separately in 8 countries. All are responsible for their individual domain. When I Google it with our brand name 'Flight Centre' in Google.ca, Google's search index shows company website link with flightcentre.com and detects all information, social profile etc.. from Flight centre Australia. Please see the screenshot. How to change this information that Google shows or detects website link and all other properties from flightcentre.ca? Anybody about with a quick answer would be awesome? Is there any value in trying to add a page to wikipedia
Hi Mozzers, My manager has asked me this question and I'm not quite sure how to answer it. "Is there any value in trying to add a page about our company to wikipedia" I would have thought it's very difficult to get a page to stick in wikipedia if it's about a company that isn't huge (like Apple or Google). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Personally I think it's potentially quite risky and unlikely to bring much traffic (because I can't imagine anyone would visit a page on wiki about my company - not that my company isn't great, because it is, it's just not HUGE or global...) I think a wiki page could be a bit spammy! Would welcome your input, and I am happy to be proven wrong! Thanks, Amelia

Page Title restructuring
Hey Mozers! Surely you have noticed Google has been randomly restructuring our Page Titles to emphasize branding by placing the company/brand first, as opposed to after the "|" - a convention we had been accustomed to. I am wondering if the aforementioned warrants restructuring our client's (where branding is important) Page Titles as per Google's lead, or simply staying on the sidelines for now and letting Google do it? Anyone care to share their take on this? Thanks! Dino

Branding Association for SEO, and Google's understanding of a "brand Name"
Hey guys. so I currently run my own business here in Queens NY, for Web Design and online marketing, specifically SEO, SMM, SEM, and some inbound marketing that ties to SMM and SEO. When starting I was in a different business, and had kept my old business name. I plan on re-branding myself January 1st with a brand new name, the name i'm seriously considering is "Media Marketing USA". I was able to purchase MediaMarketingUSA.com. I feel this name is good and bad at the same time, and here are some of the reasons. The pro: Easy to remember, sounds big, and describes my business well. The con: Sounds generic, and I worry it will be hard to brand. I used the mentioning tool provided by Moz and see that nearly everyday 500-1,000 people are naturally mentioning Media Marketing USA, one of my biggest questions is will this give me a competitive advantage in SEO, or will it hurt me in SEO as Google may not see this or understand its a brand name? Do you personally think this is a good name to re-brand myself and use as my main website? The Website itself will be used as a corporate website, a method of inbound and outbound marketing through content creation, Social Media, and of course SEO, targeting specific locations, and specialty services and industries in the NYC area. Please share your thoughts with me, THANKS!!!

How to control Artist Info sidebar on Google SERP?
Google has added an information sidebar to its SERPs for public figures, including artists of all stripes. Search for "Coldplay" and you'll see what I mean. I'm wondering where Google pulls this information from, and how to keep it complete and up to date. The sidebar includes basic information, including Birthday, Education, Awards and Works (albums / books etc.). In representing an artist, this is now the first encapsulated information presented to user searching for my artist, and I want to make sure it's accurate. Any insight on how to edit this info would be truly appreciated.

How to "Cause" a google alert
Hello Everyone, I'm just wondering, is there a quick and good way to actually cause a google alert for a keyword? I'm thinking of a press release, but there must be several other ways as well. I look forward to your response. Thanks!

Facebook Like my website or fan page??
Should I want people facebook liking my website or my fan page? Is there a way to link the two? Here is my dilemma... People liking my website will obviously have an effect on rankings within bing and google possibly. BUT - People liking my fan page will allow me to engage with them in the future about givaways, sales and so on. I'm stuck, is there a way to link these? Or if not, which do you recommend?

Developing location pages
I need to expand our service offering to another city and focus our SEO efforts to that new location. Would it be best to purchase a new domain name and make a new website very similar to the existing website so we can better target the search engines? Same look and feel as the existing website. Or would it be better to create a landing page for the new location on the existing website to help stengthen the current domain name? If so, how do i focus the SERPs to the new location when the existing website is so focused around my current location?
