Videos impact on SEOmoz On Page Analysis
-
For several years we've heard that Google rewards pages that include videos with significantly higher page ranks, however I do not see video incorporated into the On Page Analysis. One of our competitors ranks 1st-3rd on a several keywords while the On Page Analysis tool grades them as an F for the same keywords. This competitor uses video more than any of the others, and has far more YouTube subscribers. I suspect video plays a role in their excellent SERP.
Is there a video evaluation tool within SEOmoz? If not, is one coming, or is there a reason why it would not be appropriate?
Does anyone have suggestions for incorporating the use of videos in SEO evaluations and recommendations?
Thank you,
Michael

Hmmm...what's interesting is that many folks suggest hosting it on youtube since google is now indexing youtube videos on your site. This way you get the traffic spike from youtube search, and google indexing the video.
Here's a link to see all the videos google has indexed for my site.
Thoughts?

Yeah I don't think SEOMoz has a video evaluation.
Some tips for adding video.. Host it yourself! and make it so people can embed it.. this will gain a link from the website. You can also make / submit a Video sitemap.

Video page duplicates (that aren't really duplicates)
Hi. My company has a 1000 videos, each of the videos appear on their own page that follows the same template. The title is of course different / videos linked to / etc. Google is reporting them as "duplicate content". What should I do to differentiate these pages enough so that google can recognized that they are different pages?.

Choosing a video hoster for a website
Hi guys, I would love to hear your opinion about which video hoster is recommendable for embedding videos on a website and why? So far, I can't decide between Youtube, Vimeo and Wistia. Youtube: + large community, snippets in Google - advertisements Vimeo: + appealing look - small audience Wistia: + easy to customize, statistics - no community, no snippets in Google Thanks in advance for any input! Will it help/hinder our local seo by including our local adress on multiple pages?
We have a large website that targets the whole UK. It has landing pages for every town in the UK. For the towns that this particular business has a bricks and mortar hq, we have set up a local/places page. We then added the corresponding places adress to the appropriate town page on the website. This is just a handful compared to the 3,000,000 towns our site aims to rank for. Question: Would it help or hinder our SEO efforts to add the local addresses to other town pages in close proximity to the original? For instance say we have a places address for croydon in London. Would it hurt to add this address to pages that target towns near croydon, such as Mitcham. All opinions greatly appreciated. Cheers!

CTR of Video Rich Snippet vs. Normal SERP
Hi there, We were ranking no. 1 for one of our key terms for a long time, however a competitor of ours by the looks of it purchased a load of private blog network links and managed to shift above us. The page we rank for on that term has a video with the markup to trigger a video box rich snippet (which i've noticed never seems to be given on position 1 but can be for 2 and below) - so that is now what our entry in the SERPs is. Since then we have actually dropped down to 3rd, with the web page now being in 2nd not having any new links / content in a very long time. Therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about whether the video box could actually reduce CTR which could have resulted in us dropping down to 3rd ? The meta description text seems to be reduced to 100 characters with the vid box, so we're not getting our full message across where the others in the results are. My natural assumption would be that the video box would gain a higher CTR, but i'm thinking this may not be the case for us. Does anyone know of any data relating to the video box in the SERPS ? Many thanks, Stuart MtsbA.jpg
