Guest blogging for the gaming industry
-
Guest blogging seems to be one of the few legit linking methods left these days.
My problem is that I work for a company in the gaming industry niche.
All of the blogs directly connected are either spam, competitors or affiliates.
I have been doing some guest blogging with connected articles on non-related blogs such as "financial advice if you win big" or a recent news story for a general blog.
However, these sites are not connected and I cannot get the more quality general sites interested in these topics.
Any advice for me?

Online Gambling is always going to be very black hat and difficult to rank for 'legitimately' I found that using the wayback machine (http://archive.org/web/web.php) can help rat out spammy Gambling sites that have changed around.
As well as this it is just a matter of searching and finding those hidden gems or pushing some kind of high quality viral / media campaign where you can get into the higher quality websites.
Gambling and Pills are always going to be very blackhat so maybe you need to change hat slightly.

Yes, and it's great for finding blogs in unrelated industries that will publish my articles.
But my question is more if those links are valuable and if not suggestions for how to get more valuable/relevant ones.

Hi Sara, Have you tried myblogguest.com ? Its all in one place for all your guest blogging need.
-
But that is exactly my problem...
When I do that all I get is a bunch of junk.

Hi,
If you were promoting a website called “online gambling”, it might be an idea to search for “online gambling guest blogs” and go through the search results identifying opportunities to contribute to various blogs as you go along.

Sitewide links from blogs we sponsor - A Bad Thing?
We sponsor a few blogs in our niche. As part of the sponsorship, they include an advert on the RHS or LHS of the blog page. Links are dofollow and are sitewide. Should I be concerned? Should I be asking for a nofollow instead, if possible? I've recently disavowed links and am waiting to see what happens with this - hopefully there's a Penguin update soon - but I wondered if the blog links were part of the problem.

Host a wordpress blog as a folder or external site?
I've been speaking to our developers as I want to introduce a blog. My intention is to host the blog as part of our existing site, so the url becomes www.example.com/blog I have a personal wordpress blog and I love it, the amount of plugins, themes and ease of use makes it a fantastic platform. I spoke to my developers and requested if they could install Wordpress within a folder of our existing website. This gives me control to do plugins, custom themes etc. Straight forward I thought, but I didn't get a straight forward reply. They went on that it would require two linux php servers, a load balancer between them, and set up and configuration would take 5 days. Their day rates are high, so 5 days is a lot of money. This got me thinking, what if I hosted it externally and linked from our website, so the blog URL would be www.myblog.com This gives me the power to have a wordpress blog for cheap and use all the fantasic plugins to optimise the site (Yoast, Schema plugins etc). I know for SEO, it's better to host it as part of your existing site, the ranking juice remains in your area and it further helps strengthen the site. But then i'm thinking, if the wordpress stand alone blog works out, it will end up being a great external linker, further boosting my existing site's presense. Have any of you faced any similar problems? Thoughts?

Multiple blogs for one site
Hello, one of my competitors built all these blogs and pointed them to their main site.. Is this white hat? http://steelbuildingsblog.org/ PR3 http://metal-church-buildings.net/ PR2 http://commercial-metal-buildings.org/ PR2 http://metalandsteelbuildings.net/ PR1 http://steel-storage-buildings.org/ PR2 http://texas-steel-buildings.net/ PR2 http://steel-metal-buildings.org/ PR3 http://metal-buildingstore.com/ PR2 http://metalagriculturalbuildings.net/ PR3 Also I am looking at my links vs. theirs and they have a much higher point score for links... But the company I am doing SEO for has most of same quality links. Can this be the reason they have an edge?

Does PA matter much on blogs like tumblr, wordpress.com?
I've been exploring setting up pages on these type of sites. When searching for key words I've discovered the following... If a sites DA id let's say 83, the root domain you create is also an 83 (not 100% but most I've looked at) The PA starts at 1, but there seem to be a lot of these blog sites that rank for my key word searches even though the PA is a 1. So... I was wondering the value of attempting the get the PA of mine greater than one with back links. The blog page will link to the corresponding page on my main site. Is it worth the time, or PA in this case is not really much of a ranking factor in creating link juice? What I'm asking is that will a page on let's say joemastriano.blogspot.com/ (whatever) get more link juice to the page i link it to if the PA was 25 and not 1?
