I dont know what happened?!? Help!
-
Up until yesturday I was mainly getting entrances to my site through www.moondoggieinc.com/dog-harness.php like 60-70 a day
After yesterday, it's dropped to one or two! I haven't made any major changes to the site? I don't know what happened!
I am starting to feel really discouraged and don't know what to do! I have no clue what my next move should be in trying to get this site working well in organic search. I feel lost now, PLEASE help!
Any suggestions on what to do with http://www.moondoggieinc.com would be a great help! I feel so lost!
THANKS!

When I look in Bing webmaster tools, I don't see anything they suggested w/i parameters? I dont see any parameters set...?
It doesn't appear they changed anything, but I might not be looking in the right place...
I attached a screenshot, but i dont think they set any parameters?
Thanks you so much!

Google and Bing don't talk to each other, so Bing wouldn't know about the parameters you set in Google.
My gut says that maybe Bing chose the wrong things to ignore? I'd look at what they suggested and see if it needs adjusting and if they are ignoring too many things.
-
I just checked Bing webmasters tools and found this message from the day that I started not getting hits from bing or yahoo.
It was the only message I had in bing webmasters:
Query parameters for normalization found on moondoggieinc.com
Site: http://moondoggieinc.com/Date: 8/26/2012Priority: LowBing has detected new parameters in your URLs. Please visit the Ignore URL Parameters feature in the Configure My Site section of Bing Webmaster Tools to review the suggested parameters. If you are certain that a suggested parameter does not change or determine the page content, you can add it to the list of parameters to ignore by clicking on the suggested parameter. This helps reduce duplicate URLs for the same content and allows Bing to crawl and index more relevant URLs, potentially improving the overall traffic for your site.I had parameters set in google for almost 2 months now, are they picking up on that?
-
In that case, I'd verify my site in Bing's Webmaster Center and see if you have any notifications, if it's just Yahoo/Bing (since Bing powers Yahoo's index). I am seeing your site and that page in particular in Bing, including when I do a search for dog harness.
-
In looking at it ALL my traffic from yahoo and bing went away... I was receiving about 50 hits a day from those engines and over the past 2 days I have received none.
How can that happen?
-
Hi Kristy,
I'd look at a couple of things. First, have you verified your site in Google Webmaster Tools? If not, do so now. If you have, log into your account and see if you have any messages saying an action was taken with regards to your site.
Second, you haven't made major changes, but even a minor change in the right part of the code could have caused your analytics to stop working.
Before we get into full-fledged panic mode, let's do a little diagnosis. Take a deep breath, and go back to your analytics and get a little more information.
- Is it just that one page that suddenly has no entrances?
- Is your site traffic as a whole down?
- For that one page, what was the source of those entrances? Was it a link on another site, and that link has been removed?
- If the source was organic search, has you traffic declined over all search engines, or just one search engine?
If we figure out more exactly what the problem is, we can help you get things fixed back up.

Need help with best practices on eliminating old thin content blogs.
We have about 100 really old blog posts that are nothing more than a short trip review w/ images. Consequently these pages are poor quality. Would best practices be to combine into one "review page" per trip, reducing from 100 to about 10 better pages and implement redirects? Or is having more pages better with less redirects? We only have about 700 pages total. Thanks for any input!

How to take out international URL from google US index/hreflang help
Hi Moz Community, Weird/confusing question so I'll try my best. The company I work for also has an Australian retail website. When you do a site:ourbrand.com search the second result that pops up is au.brand.com, which redirects to the actual brand.com.au website. The Australian site owner removed this redirect per my bosses request and now it leads to a an unavailable webpage. I'm confused as to best approach, is there a way to noindex the au.brand.com URL from US based searches? My only problem is that the au.brand.com URL is ranking higher than all of the actual US based sub-cat pages when using a site search. Is this an appropriate place for an hreflang tag? Let me know how I can help clarify the issue. Thanks,

I am launching a new site, what I need to know about backlinks
Hi 🙂 soon I am launching a new site. It will be focused on topics: Android, smartphones, reviews etc... First I will buy a good looking WP theme, it will be responsive theme. after that when I set up all in theme, after that I will start writing. I will try to write interesting and good content.... This content I will share on my pages: Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Youtube. So only remains, how to get good backlinks ? good backlinks for Google ? Blog commenting is not good, right ? Writing on relative forums and posting links as source of that information ? Contacting other relative sites for sharing my content ? Am I missed something or not ? In your opinion, which is the best way of getting good backlinks ? And what is the best solution in the beginning, because no one will know my site because my site is new. Thank you 🙂

Title tags seem to be going against Rand and suggestions here, what can I do? Can you help me please?
Hi to all, Ok so I have been beating myself up trying to figure out how to create a good ranking title for my websites homepage. My competition uses commas in its title tags But these are 100% against what Rand and many posts say here. I watched his whiteboard where he says don't use commas. There are posts that say, don't use commas. The biggest one is mortonbuildings(dot)com - followed by - lesterbuildings(dot)com They basically have the same title tags with commas. So what's the catch here? What am I missing? of course these sites have Great Domain Authority, but I swear what they are doing is going against what Rand and many other seo professional's are preaching. I thought it should read better for visitors? But to me it looks like keyword stuffing with a brand name? Any help is greatly appreciated to let me know if these commas and strategies are good to do? or bad news? Again thank you for your time to help a small business. Chris

Please help :) Troubles getting 3 types of content de-indexed
Hi there,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Ltsmz
I know that it takes time and I have already submitted a URL removal request 3-4 months ago.
But I would really appreciate some kind advice on this topic. Thank you in advance to everyone who contributes! 1) De-indexing archives Google had indexed all my:
/tag/
/authorname/
archives. I have set them as no-index a few months ago but they still appear in search engine.
Is there anything I can do to speed up this de-indexing? 2) De-index /plugins/ folder in wordpress site They have also indexed all my /plugins/ folder. So I have added a disallow /plugin/ in my robots.txt 3-4 months ago, but /plugins/ still appear in search engine. What can I do to get the /plugins/ folder de-indexed?
Is my disallow /plugins/ in robots.txt making it worse because google has already indexed it and not it can't access the folder? How do you solve this? 3) De-index a subdomain I had created a subdomain containing adult content, and have it completely deleted it from my cpanel 3months ago, but it still appears in search engines. Anything else I can do to get it de-indexed? Thank you in advance for your help!0 -
Does having shorter URLs help with rankings?
Hello here.I own an e-commerce website (virtualsheetmusic.com), and some of our most important category pages have pretty long URLs. Here is an example: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/downloads/Indici/Violin.html I am evaluating the possibility to shorten URLs like the above to something like: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/violin/ But since it is going to pretty hard and time consuming (considering the custom system we have in place on that site), I am trying to find out if it really matters and worth doing it from a SEO stand point. I am aware that from a user prospective shorter URLs are preferable, and we plan to pursue a better URL architecture on our website in the near future just for that, but this question, at the moment, should be strictly related to SEO. Any thoughts on this topic are very welcome!

Geo-Domain Centralization - Helps or Hurts a Long-Term Campaign?
I have a client with nearly 100 geo-specific domains (example: serviceincity.com). The content is mostly duplicate, however they weren't affected by Panda or Penguin, and most of the domains have a PR2-PR4. Doesn't mean they won't eventually (I know). My strategy is to centralize all the city domains and 301 them to their main website (example: brandname.com/locations/city/). However, their IBL profile shows at least 50% of their IBLs coming from the geo-specific domains, which makes centralizing quite a scary thing for short-term ranking. Having these domains is obviously not scalable from a social media or video SEO perspective, and we all know that in the long-term brand rules and domaining drools. Before I suggest they that they 301 these domains, I thought I'd get feedback from the community. Will all that 301 redirecting give more weight to the primary domain's visibility and sustain the ranking at a page-level, or will it send a flag to Google that the site might have been using it's own network of websites to game results? (which wasn't the case, the owner was just hyper with dominating in each city). Thanks in advance for your feedback.
