How to get the total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API? I could not see an option in the bit flags
-
Hi,
I was trying to get the data for total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API but I can't see a bit flag which can do that. There are bit flags for external followed links to a page and external followed links to a domain but I wanted the total external links data, is there a way to do that using Mozscape API else I would end up copying the data manually from OSE which would be cumbersome and time consuming.
Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the email id! I will drop a mail. I would update the thread as soon as I get a response. Appreciate your response :).

Gotcha, looks like Mozscape doesn't provide "just" internal or nofollowed for a subdomain. Too bad. Perhaps someone from SEOmoz will notice this post and respond with whether or not they can provide that information via API. Otherwise, you might want to drop them a line at [email protected].
Good luck, looks like you are working the API to the bone!

Thanks again George!
The formula in your response would give me external nofollowed links + internal links to the subdomain. I wanted to have Total External links (followed + nofollowed) linking to the subdomain. Though this value is visible in the comparison metrics of OSE under subdomain metrics, it does not seem to have a bit flag defined in Mozscape and I was trying to find a work around by adding/substracting the URL metrics parameters but the data seems to be insufficient to do that. Still digging in to this to find a solution else at the end I would have to manually plugin the data in excel sheets which would be a pain.
I am using JsonpathonURL to get these metrics in excel sheet.

Ah ok, do you think Links to Subdomain (bit flag value:4294967296 - Total links (including internal and nofollow links) to the subdomain of the URL) minus the Subdomain External Links (bit flag value:64 - The number of juice-passing external links to the subdomain of the URL) will give you the number of NoFollowed links?
Edit: updated second bit flag

Thanks for the response George!
I was looking at the metrics page earlier. My problem is related to the total external links to a page and total external links to a subdomain. I am able to set the bit flags and get the external followed links to a page as well as to the subdomain but I want to find out if I can get the total external links (followed + nofollowed) excluding the internal links. I was able to find the external links to a page using the formula:
Total Link (uid 2048) - Juice Passing links (ujid 256) = NoFollowed Links
NoFollowed Links + External Links (ueid 32) = Total external links
But I cant do this for Total external links to the subdomain. I know its a bit complicated but I hope you got the picture

Hello HQP,
You should be able to find this information here: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/url-metrics.
The total juice-passing (followed) external links to a page should have a bit flag value of 32.
The total juice-passing (followed) external links to a root domain should have a bit flag value of 128.
You can also get the total juice-passing (internal or external) links to a page with a bit flag value of 256.
Hope this helps!

Filter Pages
Howdy Moz Forum!! I have a headache of a job over here in the UK and I'd welcome any advice! - It's sunny today, only 1 of 5 days in a year and i'm stuck on this! I have a client that currently has 22,000 pages indexed to Google with almost 4000 showing as duplicate content. The site has a "jobs" and "candidates" list. This can cause all sorts of variations such as job title, language, location etc. The filter pages all seem to be indexed. Plus the static pages are indexed. For example if there were 100 jobs at Moz being advertised, it is displaying the jobs on the following URL structure - /moz
Moz Pro | | Slumberjac
/moz/moz-jobs
/moz/moz-jobs/page/2
/moz/moz-jobs/page/3
/moz/moz-jobs/page/4
/moz/moz-jobs/page/5 ETC ETC Imagine this with some going up to page/250 I have checked GA data and can see that although there are tons of pages indexed this way, non of them past the "/moz/moz-jobs" URL get any sort of organic traffic. So, my first question! - Should I use rel-canonical tags on all the /page/2 & /page/3 etc results and point them all at the /moz/moz-jobs parent page?? The reason for this is these pages have the same title and content and fall very close to "duplicate" content even though it does pull in different jobs... I hope i'm making sense? There is also a lot of pages indexed in a way such as- https://www.examplesite.co.uk/moz-jobs/search/page/9/?candidate_search_type=seo-consulant&candidate_search_language=blank-language These are filter pages... and as far as I'm concerned shouldn't really be indexed? Second question! - Should I "no follow" everything after /page in this instance? To keep things tidy? I don't want all the variations indexed! Any help or general thoughts would be much appreciated! What keywords should I use in my campaign.
I am a chiropractor. I only compete against web sites in my town. Should my key words be neck pain, back pain? Or should it be neck pain Bloomington Illinois and low back pain Bloomington Illinois? I am referring to the campaigns I just started. (I am new)

In my crawl diagnostics, there are links to duplicate content. How can I track down where these links originated in?
How can I find out how SEOMOz found these links to begin with? That would help fix the issue. Where's the source page where the link was first encountered listed at?

Duplicate page title
I own a store www.mzube.co.uk and the scam always says that I have duplicate page titles or duplicate page. What happens is thn I may have for example www.mzube.co.uk/allproducts/page1. And if I hve 20 pages all what will change from each page is the number at the end and all the rest of the page name will be the same but really the pages are if different products. So the scans think I have 20 pages the same but I havent Is this a concern as I don't think I can avoid this Hope you can answer

Which Moz Rank and I'm seeing External or both external and internal?
I found this on the MOZ site. It confused me. "Whereas MozRank measures the link juice (ranking power) of both internal and external links, external MozRank measures only the amount of mozRank flowing through external links (links located on a separate domain). Because external links can play an important role as independent endorsements, external mozRank is an important metric for predicting search engine rankings." In the tool bar and other places in Moz am I seeing the combo Internal or the External and how do I get to each? Maybe I'm just reading this wrong. 🙂
