Using Google Blogger
-
Hi,
On my website I have a specific blog section, which like most people is linked to Wordpress. I have been advised that to achieve better SEO its also a good idea to use Google Blogger, because it will link back to your website from Google. Obviously we don't want to submit the same articles to Google blogger or else that would be duplicated, but is this something that could benefit and is anyone else doing this?
Thanks!

I'm guessing you've heard the famous line, "build quality content and it will build links for you". If not, I hate that line as well because it's hard to get links as a brand new website. However, that's the sad truth about the industry. Quality user experience builds website rank. Granted there are a few things you can do in the beginning. I suggest looking at the directories here on SEOMoz for a few ideas of getting initial links. http://www.seomoz.org/directories
Also focus on your on page optimization. Don't cannibalize yourself trying to rank for the same keyword on every page. Craft your site so it is user friendly and provides real information.
When it comes down to it, there is not a magic "wave your wand" formula that makes SEO easy. There is a reason people are paid to do SEO.

Hi,
The blog is actually hosted within our site, as you rightly said this is so customers stay on the site. I'm looking at ways to increase my domain score through links from other websites so that is why I am considering this method, so its all about improving the website rank rather than user experience?

You are correct with your statement about not wanting to duplicate the article. The question you should be asking yourself is not "What's in it for me?", but "What's in it for my user?" If it makes sense to put your blog out on blogger for your customer base then do it. If it doesn't, don't.
The question I have for you is are you hosting your wordpress blog within your site or is it hosted our on WP? If it's hosted out on WP, I recommend that you bring it within your current site (i.e. www.currentsite.com/blog). This way your customers don't leave your domain to read your blog posts.

SEO for international bloggers
Hi I'm brand new to SEO stuff, and I'm trying to monetize my blog. I have a Q from you about optimizing my blog for an international audience. So I thought where is better to ask my question 🙂 My q is: Does the country that you are living in and publishing your post affect your SEO if you blog in English? For instance, if I live in turkey, but I publish my whole posts in English, will Google hesitate to show my content to an English audience? In other words, Does the publishing source country make it harder to contest with native English bloggers for google's page 1? Thanks in advance for your attention

Google Authorship and the "Fishkin" Outburst! Sorry Rand ;)
Should companies now shift away from creating great content and invest the time and money into something else? After Rand tweeted his frustration at @JohnMu in relation to "Authorship CTR's", it got me thinking - should we really be blogging as much as we should? https://twitter.com/randfish/status/481948721031024641 I'm certain Google ditched author profile images to improve "mobile UX" and "CTR's" for "paid advertisers". So what I would really like to know is - should small businesses continue to focus on developing great content? How has your marketing strategy changed?

How much duplicate content counts as duplicate content to Google?
Hi everyone! I've had a look through some duplicate content posts and I can't see the answer to this query, so I thought I'd ask in case someone could help. I've been looking at a website that competes with the site that I work on. They have profile pages containing content that has been copied and pasted straight from the suppliers' websites. Their pages have all their own code framing the content, which is diluting the concentration of duplicate copy. How much duplicate content can a page have before it gets penalised or ignored by Google? Any suggestions very gratefully received 🐵

How does one write different pages of their website that are very similar in nature with using too much duplicate content?
We are a service provider and we have different links on our website to each of our services. The problem is the content that we would have for each is very similar. How can I ensure that it is not deemed duplicate content and ranked poorly because of it. Thanks

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Does Google really ignore Noindex pages?
Assume I may have some pages of my site that don't have a lot of text on them, and I have to keep them on the site. Let's say there are no more than 50 like this out of 400 great pages, and the ratio of great-to-short pages continues to increase. If I no index the short ones, will Google really ignore them in search? Will they ignore them enough to not downrank my site due to the short, noindexed pages? I know, theoretically, they are supposed to ignore them, but I don't always trust all the rules.
