How often should I upload a new sitemap in google webmasters?
-
So I have a real estate website that is regularly changing listings, photos, data. Every time a new listing is added it creates a page for that listing.
My question is how frequently should I be recreating a new xml sitemap and uploading it to google webmasters?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Scott, depending on the volume of new pages being created you could always make use of the 'Fetch as Google' contained in the 'Health' tab facility in your Webmaster account to make sure that your most important new pages are indexed.
Periodically you could add a new sitemap but on a daily or perhaps weekly basis submitting the important pages for indexing through your Webmaster account could be the way to go.

Thanks Sergio,
So that leads me to another question, if I upload a new sitemap to google webmasters will it start fresh at zero or will it pick up where it left off. I noticed for the last couple weeks google has been indexing between 500-1000 pages per day. Then for the last few days it seems like they have slowed down. Any thoughts?

Hi Scott,
It depends if you want those new pages to be indexed fast. If you want them to be indexed as soon as possible, is a good idea to make a new sitemap because the next time bots crawl your web, they will find new pages easily and then can index them. If indexing new pages is not urgent for you, then wait.
Obviously, if you create a high number of pages which may be indexed per day, create a new sitemap each time you have a new page could be a hard work.
You have to stablish your needs, for example a new sitemap/day, or a new sitemap/10 new pages, etc.
If you use some CMS, like WordPress, there are some useful plugins that allow you automate this task.
I hope my answer would be helpful.

Getting 'Indexed, not submitted in sitemap' for around a third of my site. But these pages ARE in the sitemap we submitted.
As in the title, we have a site with around 40k pages, but around a third of them are showing as "Indexed, not submitted in sitemap" in Google Search Console. We've double-checked the sitemaps we have submitted and the URLs are definitely in the sitemap. Any idea why this might be happening? Example URL with the error: https://www.teacherstoyourhome.co.uk/german-tutor/Egham Sitemap it is located on: https://www.teacherstoyourhome.co.uk/sitemap-subject-locations-surrey.xml

Switching from HTTP to HTTPS and google webmaster
HI, I've recently moved one of my sites www.thegoldregister.co.uk to https. I'm using wordpress and put in the permanent 301 redirect for all pages to false https for all pages in the htaaccess file. I've updated the settings in google analytics to https for the original site. All seems to be working well. Regarding the google webmaster tools and what needs to be done. I'm very confused by the google documentation on this subject around https. Does all my crawl data and indexing from http site still stand and be inherited by the https version because of the redirects in place. I'm really worried I will lose all of this indexing data, I looked at the "change of address" in the settings of webmaster, but this seems to refer to changing the actual domain name rather than the protocol which i haven't at all. I've also tried adding the https version to the console as well, but the https version is showing a severe warning "is robots.txt blocking some important pages". I don't understand this error as it's the same version and file as the http site being generated by all in one seo pack for wordpress (see below at bottom). The warning is against line 5 saying it will ignore it. What i don't understand is i don't get this error in the webmaster console with the http version which is the same file?? Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Kind regards Steve User-agent: *

Google webmaster tools says access denied for 77 urls
Hi i am looking in google webmaster tools and i have seen a major problem which i hope people can help me sort out. The problem is, i am being told that 77 urls are being denied access. The message when i look for more information says the below Googlebot couldn't crawl your URL because your server either requires login to access the page, or is blocking Googlebot from accessing your site. the responce code is 403 here is a couple of examples http://www.in2town.co.uk/Entertainment-Magazine http://www.in2town.co.uk/Weight-Loss-Hypnotherapy-helped-woman-lose-3-stone i think the problem could be that i have sent them to another url in my httaccess file using the 403 re-direct but why would it bring up that google bot could not crawl them any help would be great

Change in how Google displays SERPs
Hi All, Recently our SERPs have changed in Google results to show product prices from our pages rather than the meta description. This just started to happen in November with no change (that we know of) on our side. I have attached a from and to SERP image if that helps. Does any one have any ideas as its starting to effect our rankings? Thanks, Tony. Tkeou,6jg6Q Tkeou,6jg6Q#1
