URL ending with ?cpc=1
-
Hi,
In the analytics data (SEO - Landing Sites) on a site I just started working with - 2 different url's show up (when I filter the results):
/example**.asp**
/example**.asp?cpc=1**
The first recieves 2/3 of the visits (among these 2 pages) and the other recieves 1/3 of the visits (among these 2 pages).
The second (/example.asp?cpc=1) is apparently getting the clicks from Adwords, since it isn't indexed by Google..
Can someone explain me:
1) why the cms is producing this kind of double landing page?
- is it possible to avoid it in any way? (it is not the only example on site - so it makes analyzing data more difficult).
Thanks
Christian

Hi Irving that's a good solution - I agree.
But shouldn't these kind of urls be created manually?
Also - what exactly does ?cpc=1 mean?
-
It's a customed made site built in .net/asp
Yes I could use it in Adwords, but I have checked and the URL is not "made" in Adwords. It's the CMS (or the coders behind) that is creating this extra url.
But I still can't figure out why?
(I will of course ask them - but I won't be able to the next couple of weeks)
-
yup. that's most likely it.
canonical the page it itself (without the parameter string of course) and go into google webmaster tools parameter handling to deal with the parameter

Hi Christian,
May I know which CMS are you using ? Can't you use the same URL in adword as well ?
I think the adwords guy might be using it for tracking conversions. I am doing the same things to to track sales from my paid campaigns.

Direct traffic coming to URLs with /rss_feedIP#
I'm doing a site audit for an organization that has a bunch of really messy old Drupal sites. In looking at their traffic, I see that a majority of it is coming to landing pages that look like this: http://clientsdomain.com/rss_feed173.8.208.97 plus other IP addresses. The bounce rate is 100% and time on site is less than a second. It looks like something that an RSS feed tool might use, but I've never seen something like it before. It creates its own landing page, hits the site, then appears to bounce. This is making their Analytics data look a whole lot worse than the site is actually doing, since the bounce rate is 100% on all that fake traffic. I have some experience with Drupal, but I've never seen anything like this in Drupal or any other CMS. Has anyone out there ever experienced something like this, where direct traffic comes to an rss feed landing page and bounces immediately?

URL Keyword & Meta Title Problem
I was just reviewing my Moz report and came across something I could use advice on. The Keyword is "irish cardigans" I just moved to down a place to #5. I was going to add content to the page and back link a little to get back up on rankings but I noticed it is not all matching up. My Keyword is "irish cardigans" My Url is structured: products/traditional-irish-clothing-arans My metatitle is: Irish Sweaters - Traditional Irish Clothing - Arans & Cardigans The content title on the page heading is: Irish Sweaters and Cardigans. How will I change this to get my ranking better for "Irish Cardigans" The Page is also ranking for "Traditional Irish Clothing and Irish Sweaters" How do I know if I structure it to "Irish Cardigans" I will not loose traffic etc from the other keywords. Thanks

My first campaign identidied long URLs
Hello! 🙂 I've just created my first campaign, and the crawling proccess have detected posts with long URL (more than 70 characters). If I change it, i.e., alter the URL's, can some problem happens to my blog? Or do I have to disconsider this problem and just "work correctly" from now on? Thanks in advance for your help!

WMT tools - setting parameter for redirected URLs
Hi everybody. One of our clients has recently moved from one ecommerce platform to another. During the move, a huge number of URLs have been tidied up to remove dynamic parameters. The old URLs have been redirected to the new, tidy ones. My question is whether it's worth telling Google in the WMT URL parameters section not to index the parameters of the old URLs. Will this affect the redirects in any way? Thanks!

URL offline advertising
Hi there, I am in a bit of a dilemma, we are going to be doing some TV advertising and using the URL example.com/tv I want this to take the user to the product that we are advertising example.com/product For best practice should have a 301 redirect on /tv going to /product? We are also doing magazine, newspaper advertising also, so the same question applies. Kind Regards
