Indexed Pages in Google, How do I find Out?
-
Is there a way to get a list of pages that google has indexed?
Is there some software that can do this?
I do not have access to webmaster tools, so hoping there is another way to do this.
Would be great if I could also see if the indexed page is a 404 or other
Thanks for your help, sorry if its basic question
-
If you want to find all your indexed pages in Google just type: site:yourdomain.com or .co.uk or other without the www.

Hi John,
Hope I'm not too late to the party! When checking URL's for their cache status I suggest using Scrapebox (with proxies).
Be warned, it was created as a black-hat tool, and as such is frowned upon, but there are a number of excellent white-hat uses for it! Costs $57 one off

sorry to keep sending you messages but I wanted to make sure that you know SEOmoz does have a fantastic tool for what you are requesting. Please look at this link and then click on the bottom where it should says show more and I believe you will agree it does everything you've asked and more.

Sincerely,
Thomas
does this answer your question?

What giving you a 100 limit?
try using Raven tools or spider mate they both have excellent free trials and allow you quite a bit of information.

Neil you are correct I agree with screaming frog is excellent they definitely will show you your site. Here is a link from SEOmoz associate that I believe will benefit you

this is what I am looking for Thanks
Strange that there is no tool I can buy to do this in full without the 100 limit
Anyway, i will give that a go

can I get your sites URL? By the way this might be a better way into Google Webmaster tools
if you have a Gmail account use that if you don't just sign up using your regular e-mail.
Of course using SEOmoz via http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test will give you a full rundown of all of your links and how they're running. Are you not seen all of them?
Another tool I have found very useful. Is website analysis as well as their midsize product from Alexia
I hope I have helped,
Tom

If you don't have access to Webmaster Tools, the most basic way to see which pages Google has indexed is obviously to do a site: search on Google itself - like "site:google.com" - to return pages of SERPs containing the pages from your site which Google has indexed.
Problem is, how do you get the data from those SERPs in a useful format to run through Screaming Frog or similar?
Enter Chris Le's Google Scraper for Google Docs
It will let scrape the first 100 results, then let you offset your search by 100 and get the next 100, etc.. slightly cumbersome, but it will achieve what you want to do.
Then you can crawl the URLs using Screaming Frog or another crawler.

just thought I might add these links these might help explain it better than I did.

you should definitely sign up for Google Webmaster tools it is free here is a link all you need to do is add an e-mail address and password

I hope I have been of help to you sincerely,

Thanks for the reply.
I do not have access to webmaster tools and the seomoz tools do not show a great deal of the pages on my site for some reason
Majestic shows up to 100 pages. Ahrefs shows some also.
I need to compare what google has indexed and the status of the page
Does screaming frog do thiss?

Google Webmaster tools should supply you with this information. In addition Seomoz tools will tell you that and more. Run your website through the campaign section of seomoz you will then see any issues with your website.
You may also want to of course use Google Webmaster tools run a test as a Google bot the Google but should show you any issues you are having such is 404's or other fun things that websites do.
If you're running WordPress there are plenty of plug-ins I recommend 404 returned
sincerely,
Thomas

How to get a large number of urls out of Google's Index when there are no pages to noindex tag?
Hi, I'm working with a site that has created a large group of urls (150,000) that have crept into Google's index. If these urls actually existed as pages, which they don't, I'd just noindex tag them and over time the number would drift down. The thing is, they created them through a complicated internal linking arrangement that adds affiliate code to the links and forwards them to the affiliate. GoogleBot would crawl a link that looks like it's to the client's same domain and wind up on Amazon or somewhere else with some affiiiate code. GoogleBot would then grab the original link on the clients domain and index it... even though the page served is on Amazon or somewhere else. Ergo, I don't have a page to noindex tag. I have to get this 150K block of cruft out of Google's index, but without actual pages to noindex tag, it's a bit of a puzzler. Any ideas? Thanks! Best... Michael P.S., All 150K urls seem to share the same url pattern... exmpledomain.com/item/... so /item/ is common to all of them, if that helps.

How long to re-index a page after being blocked
Morning all! I am doing some research at the moment and am trying to find out, just roughly, how long you have ever had to wait to have a page re-indexed by Google. For this purpose, say you had blocked a page via meta noindex or disallowed access by robots.txt, and then opened it back up. No right or wrong answers, just after a few numbers 🙂 Cheers, -Andy

HELP! How do I get Google to value one page over another (older) page that is ranking?
So I have a tactical question and I need mozzers. I'll use widgets as an example: 1- My company used to sell widgets exclusively and we built thousands of useful, branded unique pages that sell widgets. We have thousands of pages that are ranking for widgets.com/brand-widgets-for-sale. (These pages have been live for almost 2 years) 2- We've shifted our focus to now renting widgets. We have about 100 pages focused on renting the same branded widgets. These pages have unique content and photos and can be found at widgets.com/brand-widgets-for-rent. (These pages have been live for about 2-3 months) The problem is that when someone searches just for the brand name, the "for sale" pages dramatically outrank the "for rent" pages. Instead, I want them to find the "for rent" page. I don't want to redirect traffic from the "for sale" pages because someone might still be interested in buying (although as a company, we are super focused on renting). Solutions? "nofollow" the "for sale" pages with the idea that Google will stop indexing "for sale" and start valuing "for rent" over it? Remove "for sale" from sitemap. Help!!

Why is a page with a noindex code being indexed?
I was looking through the pages indexed by Google (with site:www.mywebsite.com) and one of the results was a page with "noindex, follow" in the code that seems to be a page generated by blog searches. Any ideas why it seems to be indexed or how to de-index it?

Google swapped our website's long standing ranking home page for a less authoritative product page?
Our website has ranked for two variations of a keyword, one singular & the other plural in Google at #1 & #2 (for over a year). Keep in mind both links in serps were pointed to our home page. This year we targeted both variations of the keyword in PPC to a products landing page(still relevant to the keywords) within our website. After about 6 weeks, Google swapped out the long standing ranked home page links (p.a. 55) rank #1,2 with the ppc directed product page links (p.a. 01) and dropped us to #2 & #8 respectively in search results for the singular and plural version of the keyword. Would you consider this swapping of pages temporary, if the volume of traffic slowed on our product page?

IP address being indexed by Google in addition to canonical domain.
Our site's IP address is being indexed in addition to the canonical www.example.com domain. As soon as it was flagged a 301 was implemented in the .htaccess file to redirect the IP address to the canonical. Does this usually occur? Is it detrimental to SEO? In my time in SEO I've never heard of this being an issue, or being part of a list of things to be checked. It sounds more like a server that wasn't configured correctly when hosting was set up? It didn't seem to be affecting the site at all, but is it more common and I've just never heard of it? 😛 Should it be something I'm usually looking for in future? Responses are greatly appreciated!
