Maximum <title>length - use full or shorten?</title>
-
I have a Title on a page that has more than 70 chars in it, and I also have to include the page type and brand in the title.
- page type: Type
- page header: This is the page title of the long title and I need to add more content
- brand: Brand
Is it better to concanenate the title server-side and use a .. instead, like this?
Type: This is the page title of the long title and I need to.. | Brand
Or, should I put the full Title of the page so that the keywords are available for Google? example,
Type: This is the page title of the long title and I need to add more content | Brand
I'm trying to keep to the 70 char limit for Google.
Which solution is the more ideal situation?
Thanks all
jonathan

Thanks, that's more accurate to the question I was asking. Appreciate the response.

Page title is good if its upto 66 characters.. Some says 60 or 70 Characters but google displays upto 66 Characters in SERP..
As per my knowledge its good if you trim your title within 66 Characters.. Yes its helpful if you use Page Type & Brand Name in Title. Dont go above 66Characters because google only show 66 Charachters for title in SERP's & if its more than 66 then Google dont see that. As you know Keyword | Brand Name is good practice but Sometimes the message is more important than the keyword & brand.
If you want to use big title as Blogs usually have big title then your 2nd example is good "This is the page title of the long title and I need to add more content | Brand"
Hope this answered your question.

Hi,
I've read that document already, it still doesn't answer my specific question -- that's why I asked it here.

I agree, using that Keyword | Brand is best. However, that doesn't answer my question above...please re-read the question about the character limit and how to implement a <title></p></title>

Hi Jonathan
Please read this : http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/on-page-factors. I hope this will help you more for correct & effective ON-Page for your website.. Also you can see the best example of title tag out here.

According to most tools it is best to place your keywords closer to the beginning of your title. I always use keyword | Brand. It will display nicely on the SERP, and users like that.

Google not using redirect
We have a GEO-IP redirect in place for our domain, so that users are pointed to the subfolder relevant for their region, e.g: Visit example.com from the UK and you will be redirected to example.com/uk This works fine when you manually type the domain into your browser, however if you search for the site and come to example.com, you end up at example.com I didn't think this was too much of an issue but our subfolders /uk and /au are not getting ranked at all in Google, even for branded keywords. I'm wondering if the fact that Google isn't picking up the redirect means that the pages aren't being indexed properly? Conversely our US region (example.com/us) is being ranked well. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

Google is changing the title
Hi! Lately i have seen that Google changed the page titles for some clients, not all... its about 30% of them. For example, the title looks likes this after the Google change: Company name: SEO and Pay per click management But in on that page it looks like this: SEO and Pay per click management - Company name Does anyone know why?

Blog.furnacefilterscanada.com/ or furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/
My shopping cart does not allow to instal a WordPress blog on a sub-domain like: furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/ But I can host my blog on another server with a sub-domain like: blog.furnacefilterscanada.com In a SEO point of view is there a difference between the 2? Link juice? Page authority? Thank you, BigBlaze

Title Length Question?
So we have a lot of UGC on our site and so the title of pages is often created by the user and this has created about 400 pages with over 70 characters and I was just wondering what people think. I know typically keeping them short and sweet is the best thing, but what about when it's the user doing it? Should I go ahead and cut off the titles at 70 characters or keep them? I don't see it hurting traffic so I'm basically just looking for opinions right now.

Googleoff/on tags
Hi all, I'd like to restrict Google indexing a part of content on the page. Does tag really work for it as it described on https://developers.google.com/search-appliance/documentation/46/admin_crawl/Preparing#pagepart? Thanks, Jane

Optimal / Best Practice Title tag
Hi Guys, Am I write in saying google will take / create many variable from your title tag? Graphic, Web Design and Online Marketing in Ireland | Company Name results: Graphic Design, Web design, Web design in Ireland, Online Marketing in Ireland, Online Marketing, Graphic and Web Design, etc etc. (plus lots of long tail there as well). Would this be considered the optimal way as 'Design' is the common denominator for Graphic & Web. Then Ireland can be common to every other keyword such as Graphic design, Web design, Online Marketing. (in ireland) The reason why I ask is: lately I've notice title tags being stuffed with keywords and don't actually read correctly in the SERP My suggested way could have more benefits plus it reads well. Your thoughts, thanks.
