My Houzz Photo is Beating My Website in the SERPS
-
We were #3 for a keyword and now we are #4, oddly now Houzz.com is #2 and #3.
The #3 slot is our photo on Houzz I optimized for our keyword.
Should I dump the photo on Houzz? Since it is beating me on that keyword?
The #2 slot is query for my keywords but we don't appear on that page.
Thoughts?:)
Thanks.

I would:
- Keep the photo on Houzz
- Make sure you're linking from Houzz to your site (dofollow if possible)
- Keep working on your site, so you can rank about Houzz, then you'll have 3 first page rankings
-
Go to GA under Traffic Sources and use an advanced segment to see if you get conversions from that keyword phrase.
-
The keyword is 3 words plus geo modifier.
-
Are you talking about only 1 KW or a LOT of KWs. Is that bringing in conversions?
I would look at Google Analytics and make a decision based off data.

Point an expired domain name to web page on website.
I've found an expired domain name with the words Electrical Inspection. its a .co.uk domain. Apparently this key word has a search query of over 1000 per 12 month. I was thinking of purchasing it and having it redirect to one of my pages which is for electrical installation condition reports which is basically an electrical inspection. Is it worth purchasing and pointing to the page on my website (redirect) and how can I go about making it known to google? submit to webmaster tools and create a blog to do with EICR's? thanks for any help and advice Kev ps I found it on https://www.expireddomains.net

Site not visible on SERP
Hi all, I helped a client on launching his website for a new startup : www.blubridge.com. The site is not visible at all on Google, even on the startup name. I wonder why is that... There was a mistake while building the site, they used a dev site www2.blubridge.com which was indexed by Google. The 301 redirected has been done, however, there is still pages indexed by Google for the www2, and the www is still invisible on SERP... Does someone know how to solve that ?

Difference in Serp updates
I've notice that the Serp for some keywords are updated more frequently then others (or am I mistaken?) Do any of you have any data that might support that theory? what seems to be the longest periode it takes for a SERP to update for a certain keyword? Is there any rules of thumps on this matter?

Why do small changes in keyword phrasing have such big SERP impacts?
I am trying to better understand why some of my pages rank well and some don't rank at all. I've discovered that slight changes to how the key phrase is typed into Google can have dramatic effects on the results. Why is this? And how should I interpret it or use it? I understand that some phrases will be more competitive than others, but that doesn't seem to explain the variances entirely. For example, http://traveltipsthailand.com/phuket/best-bachelor-hotels-in-phuket/ (which is SEO optimised for the long-tail phrase "bachelor hotels in Phuket" and "girl-friendly bachelor hotels in Phuket") ranks #1 or #2 for the key phrase "bachelor hotels phuket", but if I modify the phrase slightly to "bachelor hotels IN phuket" it drops to #12 (page 2) with less relevant competitors (like "Bachelor hotels in Chiang Mai") getting in ahead of it. Likewise, if I search on "best bachelor hotels phuket" (the URL phrase of the page) it is #1 or #2 again, but if I modify the search phrase to "best bachelor hotels IN phuket", my SERP drops to #13. If I use the longer-tail key phrase "girl-friendly bachelor hotels in phuket" the results are even more dramatic. I rank #5 for that phrase in the SERPs with or without "IN" in the search phrase. But if I remove "bachelor" from the key phrase and just search on "girl-friendly hotels in phuket" my page drops right off the SERP radar. Somewhere above #200 I think. Would love to get a better understanding of what influences these changes if anyone really knows. Is it just Goovoodoogle or is there a logical explanation? 51c0d097f1c8d9-81984651 51c0d11688af68-43859477

Cant Remember a Website - Do You Know It?
Several months ago, I ran across a website that helped determine what subjects/topics to write about for our blog based on the keywords we wanted to go after. It did a search of keywords along with possible blog topics. But now I cant remember what tool would offer such suggestions on keywords, blog topics, etc. Do you know of any?

How do I do SEO for a client who is starting a website that is in a niche with very little to none search traffic?
I am helping a client do On-page optimization and link building. His website is rather like thoughtcatalog.com, where it is a collection of random articles, opinions and anecdotes with no fixed genre. He also has a section devoted to artsy pictures of women. To make things worse, I am in a country (singapore) where the population is small, and the search traffic for his kind of content is minuscule. I have trouble finding out good keywords for him to target and I am considering not undergoing any serious keyword targeting at all (because it will detract from the style of his content). I did a little competitor research, and most of the websites in such a genre do not seem to do any keyword targeting at all! In such a case, how do i continue to help him with SEO? should I abandon keyword research? What should i do to help him earn traffic?
