301 redirect not working
-
I setup a wordpress blog about 6 months ago called Infographic Directory on this URL:
http://infographicdirectory.wordpress.com
and less then a week after I set it up I was #1 on Google for infographic directory and my posts were ranking reasonably well.
Because the blog was quite successful and got nearly quarter of a million visitors in the first few months I decided to take it a bit more seriously and purchased a proper domain name:
http://infographic-directory.com
I set up a proper 301 redirect about 6 weeks ago but my rankings are still terrible - worst then ever. I am getting outranked on Google for infographic directory by my Crunchbase.com listing for the blog name: infographic directory and my blog posts are not showing up in the rankings at all.
Should I just be patient or do you think I might have been hit with a penalty or something?

I would contact the linking pages to change the link to the new URL... That speeds up the process.

When I search for infographic directory, I show your new site at #2 and #3 for the term.
Your 301 redirect is working correctly.
I would change the links that you do control to your new URL. Such as the Crunchbase listing that is currently outranking you for #1.
Make sure your sitemaps are updated.
Consider doing some basic WP SEO and NoIndex your tag pages. You currently have 188 tag pages indexed, which is a bit excessive.
Then, I would give it more time.

Using one domain for email and another domain for your website, but redirects...
We are rebranding and our new name is fairly lengthy. We own all main domain versions of our brand name - .com, .new and .org - There is a very high search volume for the new brand name as it is a merger of 2 popular existing brands so want to take advantage of that and use our full name within our website domain name. However, since the name is a little long as mentioned - 25 characters - we also own the 3 character acronym of the new brand so we are debating on using the acronym for our new email addresses. ie [email protected] so it is user friendly. We would obviously redirect the acronym email domain to point to the longer website domain. Are there any negative SEO effects if we do that? Use the longer domain for the website and shorter acronym for our email? Thank you

How do I redirect a page that no longer exists?
I changed the name of a blog article I wrote and the original name is giving a 404 error. I am not sure why it isn't being directed like the other articles I renamed to improve SEO. Since the webpage no longer exists, I don't know how to redirect it. I use Wordpress and Thesis. Thanks!

Google authorship works on posts, but not on root domain.
When I check Google authorship via the tool Google provides, it says I am confirmed for individual posts, but not for my root domain. I’m using WordPress, and individual posts are fine, but not the blog as a whole. I am the only author… and have given it a week, thinking perhaps it needed time... but no luck. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

How to free articles sites work when they offer duplictae articles
Hi, i am trying to work out how these free article sites work. They allow people to put on their articles on their sites but these articles are on loads of different sites which means they are all duplicate content. I am finding it hard how google puts up with this and how the sites still continue to rank high in google when all their site is duplicate content. Can anyone please explain this to me.

Blog Redirect
We have a blog hosted directly on WordPress with a PR of 3. At this point we are moving this blog to our server and incorporating it into our website. I wanted to ask the experts how to go about moving this blog without loosing Page Rank. Is it possible to do a 301 redirect from WP itself? Is there anything that I can do to preserve ranking? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Dmitry
