Site not passing page authority....
-
Hi,
This site powertoolworld.co.uk is not passing page authority. In fact every page shows no links unless it has a link from an external source.
Originally this site blocked Roger from crawling it but that block was lifted over 6 months ago. I also ran a crawl test last night and it shows the same thing. PA of 1 and no links.
I would like to point out that the problem seems to be the same for all sites on the same platform. Which points me in the direction of code. for example there is a display: none tag in the ccs which is used to style where the side bar links are. It's a Blue Park platform.
What could be causing the problem?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT
Turns out that blocking the ezooms crawler stopped it from being included.

Hi there Kyle,
Thanks for writing in! Sorry for the delay, I was able to take a look at the data on the tests that I ran and to look at your crawl. From what I can tell, these are the things I noticed:
- Our crawler is pulling up your internal links, if you check out your crawl diagnostic from your "Crawl Diagnostic" tab (export to CSV), you will find that we are pulling your internal links, they are under "link count."
- The internal links count we are displaying 0 is because that data is based off of our Mozcape index, so pages that we have not indexed yet will display "0" links, which is something that can be misleading since if we have no data for that page, then technically we didn't crawl the links.
- Our Mozcape index found some of your higher index pages, you can check them out here: www.opensiteexplorer.org/pages?site=www.powertoolworld.co.uk%2F
In terms of why your pages isn't passing authority, I don't have a straight answer for that. Since Google can index more of your pages than us, they are looking at a more broader picture than OSE, so the metrics in OSE should be used as a secondary stat rather than as your primary source.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions here or in our help ticket
Best,
Peter

I've got it in the support queue but don't have a firm answer yet. I suspect it would require a data update - those are getting faster (about 2-3 weeks).
-
Great.
I'm hoping its a moz issue over a site issue.
If it is a moz issue I'm assuming this wont update until the next Linkscape update?
Thanks
-
Ah, got it - you've got PA on a few pages, but that's it. Yeah, that definitely seems wrong. Let me ping support and see if we can get any answers.

Hey Peter,
Thanks for looking into this.
I'm checking the www version.
There is a page authority on around 6 pages in total. All have external links.
I've checked all of that too and everything looks normal. The ccs display: none thing is maybe just clutching at straws.
-
I'm not seeing any issues in the source code, and Xenu (desktop crawler) is seeing the internal links. You've got 22K+ pages indexed in Google, and the cached version looks normal (no cloaking or other oddities).
Are you check the "www" or non-www version? I notice you redirect to "www", so some of our tools may give you odd stats on the non-canonical version. I've seeing a PA of 39 in Open Site Explorer, though.
Let me know where you're looking, and maybe I can get Support to take a peek. It is possible something happened with blocking our bots in the past (I'm not sure how often we re-check that).

[Organization schema] Which Facebook page should be put in "sameAs" if our organization has separate Facebook pages for different countries?
We operate in several countries and have this kind of domain structure:
Technical SEO | | Telsenome
example.com/us
example.com/gb
example.com/au For our schemas we've planned to add an Organization schema on our top domain, and let all pages point to it. This introduces a problem and that is that we have a separate Facebook page for every country. Should we put one Facebook page in the "sameAs" array? Or all of our Facebook pages? Or should we skip it altogether? Only one Facebook page:
{
"@type": "Organization",
"@id": "https://example.com/org/#organization",
"name": "Org name",
"url": "https://example.com/org/",
"sameAs": [
"https://www.linkedin.com/company/xxx",
"https://www.facebook.com/xxx_us"
], All Facebook pages:
{
"@type": "Organization",
"@id": "https://example.com/org/#organization",
"name": "Org name",
"url": "https://example.com/org/",
"sameAs": [
"https://www.linkedin.com/company/xxx",
"https://www.facebook.com/xxx_us"
"https://www.facebook.com/xxx_gb"
"https://www.facebook.com/xxx_au"
], Bonus question: This reasoning springs from the thought that we only should have one Organization schema? Or can we have a multiple sub organizations?0 -
Is site: a reliable method for getting full list of indexed pages?
The site:domain.com search seems to show less pages than it used to (Google and Bing). It doesn't relate to a specific site but all sites. For example, I will get "page 1 of about 3,000 results" but by the time I've paged through the results it will end and change to "page 24 of 201 results". In that example If I look in GSC it shows 1,932 indexed. Should I now accept the "pages" listed in site: is an unreliable metric?

Micro-sites for Landing Pages?
We are working with a site that is difficult at best to update. The client intends to re-do the site in 18 months or so but needs to start generating more traffic (and sales) now. What are thoughts on creating landing pages as micro-sites that point to the current site conversion page as a stop gap? Beyond not sharing authority is there any known penalty? By the way they don't have tremendous ranking right now - often bottom of page two - and the micro-site won't duplicate any content.

Site Blacklisted
Good morning. Just done my WMT ritual morning check and one of my sites has been blacklisted for malware. It's a wordpress site - I've run various scans, e.g. http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ and also installed wordfence and scanned with that and wordfence produced some offending files which I have now deleted. I've also installed website defender in the hope that it wont happen again. I'm pretty good with staying on top of updates and rarely let a few days pass without upgrading new version of wordpress or plugins etc. I've also checked my users to make sure no new admins or anything and also changes passwords. I've asked for a review from Google and just wondered how long these reviews take? Also, has anybody got any advice, is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks

Page feedback
We recently wrote a new website page to cover the direct mail services our organization offers. We kept the title tag to 70 characters, the meta description under 150 characters. H1 tag has what we feel is the most important term. If anyone out there has time to review & provide a little feedback, we'd really appreciate it. It would be great to know if it is built well and providing a solid end user experience. http://www.cushingco.com/print_products/additional_services/direct_mail.shtml At the moment, the only links pointing to this page are from our blog. One bit of content I am contemplating is a short paragraph - What is Direct Mail Marketing? Literally providing a short definition of it. The page was activated last Thursday and showing up in some Google results on the 4th/5th page but I am thinking this is probably just a temporary bump for now. Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Home Page .index.htm and .com Duplicate Page Content/Title
I have been whittling away at the duplicate content on my clients' sites, thanks to SEOmoz's pro report, and have been getting push back from the account manager at register.com (the site was built here and the owner doesn't want to move it). He says these are the exact same page and he can't access one to redirect to the other. Any suggestions? The SEOmoz report says there is duplicate content on both these urls: Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/index.htm Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/ Your help is greatly appreciated! Redirecting a old aged site to a new exact match site?
Hi All, I have a question. I have 2 sites with me in the same sector and want some help. site 1 is a old site started back in 2003 and has some amount of links to it and has a pr 3 with some good links to it but doesn't rank much for any keywords for the timing. site 2 is a aged domain but newly developed with unique content and has a good amount of exact match with a .com version. so will there be any benefit by redirecting site 1 to site 2 to get the seo benefits and a start for link bulding? or is it best to develop and work on each site? the sector is health insurance. Thanks

Does 301 redirecting a site multiple times keep the value of the original site?
Hi, All! If I 301 redirect site www.abc.com to www.def.com, it should pass (almost) all linkjuice, rank, trust, etc. What happens if I then redirect site www.def.com to www.ghi.com? Does the value of the original site pass indefinitely as long as you do the redirects correctly? Or does it start to be devalued at some point? If anyone's had experience redirecting a site more than once and they've seen reportable good/bad/neutral results, that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance! -Aviva B
