When targeting a particular keyword, how many articles should I write that target it?
-
I have a keyword phrase that's a high value target for us. Should I write just one - or several articles that target that keyword as their main focus?
Thanks!
Andrew

Personally, I don't think you need a lot on site. After you have the topic covered on your site, I'd look for opportunities off site. Since improper handling can result in injury, look for guest blog opportunities on physical therapist and chiropractor sites, sites that target businesses that actually handle material, employee benefit insurance and brokerage sites, even sites that have pages on relocation like city, realtor, and professional organizer sites. I'd also create an infographic demonstrating how to safely handle material and draw attention to it by notifying the same sites. Then create a series of videos and put them in Youtube.

manual handling?
Books and entire websites can be written about that.
manual handling course - Which MH course? There are semesters worth of these courses addressing equipment, different types of equipment, different types of things being handled, my goodness!
manual handling training course - this is a bit of a repeat of the above
manual handling train the trainer - there can be multiple articles here covering methods, environments goals
manual handling online training - many courses here too
If my entire website was about MH I could spend years authoring it.
If MH is just one of many areas of my site then I would pour resources into it proportional to my authoring abilities and proportional to the return that I think I might receive.
I could start with a light and general attack and then pick it up in six months if it shows promise. I would plan the options before the first attack, these address the overall goal, then respond as you get information.
Do not commit enormous resources early unless you have experience and confidence with the expected return and the competition.
Send out scouts to report on the lay of the land, then attack based on their success or move on if you do not see promise.

Thanks!
Main KW = manual handling
important related KWs = manual handling course, manual handling training course, manual handling train the trainer, manual handling online training

Give an example of a keyword. I'll tell you what I might do.

Thanks Egol. I definetly plan to write many articles on associated KWs.
its more that I'm unsure if each KW I trace get should only have one article specifically created to target that KW - or if more articles targeting the same KW are ok...
-
I would put more thought into it.
Are there shorter tail variants and longer tail variants? Do they get traffic? Is their competition? Can I produce exceptional content? Can I compete there? Can they make money?
There are frontal attacks, side attacks, skirmishes and snipping. For some topics I attack with all of these. With others I use just one, see how it works, then follow up with a second but different attack.
Attacks cost money and time. Spend them wisely.
Think deeply for the best answer.

Does SEOmoz account for keyword variations?
If I want to know my rank for bank account, do I need to list bank accounts as well or will my ranking include variations? Also, if I use the word bank as a keyword, will any search that contains the word bank (even when other words are included) count towards the ranking for that word? Or would I need to add additional keywords like dallas bank, local bank, etc?

Advice - Keywords, good semantic practice...
Hi everyone, I'm still new to SEO so bear with me. I'm fairly ok with what determines good 'On page optimization' grading. Have a few good results but mostly for my ecommerce website. Now I'm building up blog content I'm often puzzled how SEO experts balance good editorial web page titles with how people actually search. An example: Buy Biggie Smalls Versace Sunglasses I have created the page title 'Buy Biggie Smalls Versace Sunglasses - Company' Created a and tag with the same keywords... drop the term a few times on the page, add to a few alt tags, add the term to the url.... but this looks contrived & isn't exactly an exciting web page title which would entice people to click through. Or is it? A more interesting web page title might be something like 'Versace & Biggie Smalls - his influence on a new generation of Hip Hop culture'. Ok this is a completely different long-tail keyword phrase. But do I need to do both? How would a seasoned SEO expert blend the dull search term into some interesting page title and hence all other on page optimization aspects. Hope you get what I'm trying to explain. Thanks for looking... Kevin

Google keyword rankings
I show a MON icon (it looks like a calendar page) for all my google rankings. The icon is not clickable. Can anybody tell me what this is? Also, I use to be highly ranked in 100's of keywords in google now barely anything. The domain is several years old and has performed in well in the past. Can't figure out what is going on.

Google keyword tool
Hey anyone noticed Google's keyword tool seems to be returning weird data for search volume compared to just a few days ago? "iron fist clothing" exact match was returning around 1,000 local monthly searches and a monthly trend of approximately the same over the past year. As of yesterday it has zero searches for exact match and even the monthly trends have all been set to zero for every month going back a year Now I suppose this could happen in theory but the fact that the trend is showing up as zero for each month over the last year makes me think this could be a bug. I've also noticed this for one of my keywords on my SEO site, again suddenly gone to zero searches and monthly trends going back a year. However a quick check on webmaster tools shows the impressions going back a few months at the average of 1,300 that the old trend suggested it should be. Anyone else noticed this?

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
