http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/country-level_zps41f273a3.jpgBut just how innacurate is this data when you consder is getting the data from isp locations put another way if i was sat in darkets deepest hole of Paisley Scotland and my ISP was in London would i be tagged as visitor originating in London?
Ta muchly,David

It's weird actually - Google Analytics uses IP even when it has better data available.
If I am logged in to Google and have my location accurately set to my home town (Hayling Island - yeah I know... never heard of it), I will still show on Google Analytics as being in London. It's easy to check that using real-time analytics.

Thanks for getting bk to me.. confirms what i suspected

I think you have to take it with a big pinch of salt. I know Virgin media in N.Ireland shows their customers as London (ip address wise), Not even the correct Island!!
-
Yes (as you know), Google Analytics figures out the visitor's locations from their IP addresses and where ISP assign those ranges. Google also says:
"For web visitors, Location is derived from mapping IP addresses to geographic locations. City location may not be accurate for visits from mobile devices."
How accurate this is? Who knows but possibly the ISP...

"index.htm" for all url's in google analytics
I don't have this issue with other wordpress websites, only this one website, and I don't know what's causing the issue: Google Analytics is adding an "index.htm" to every single page on the website. So it is tracking the pages, I see no errors - is it tracking the right page? When I click on the page link in a report, I naturally go to a "404 page not found" since the website address isn't "www.example.com/rewards/index.htm" - but instead the actual address would be:
Reporting & Analytics | | cceebar
"www.example.com/rewards/". I have navigated to View Settings in GA to insure "default page" is empty. Although adding anything else to this field does not effect the page url in analytics reports either. Could it be htaccess file - or a plugin effecting the htaccess file?_Cindy0 -

Google Analytics Set-Up for site with both http & https pages
We have a client that migrated to https last September. The site uses canonicals pointing to the https version. The client IT team is reluctant to put 301 redirects from the non-secure to the secure and we are not sure why they object. We ran a screaming frog report and it is showing both URLs for the same page (http and https). The non-secure version has a canonical pointing to the secure version. For every secure page there is a non-secure version in ScreamingFrog so Google must be ignoring the canonical and still indexing the page however, when we run a site: we see that most URLs are the secure version. At that time we did not change the Google Analytics setup option to use: "https" instead of "http" BUT GA appears to be recording data correctly. Yesterday we set up a new profile and selected "https" but our question is: Does the GAnalytics http/https version make a difference if so, what difference is it?

Is it possible to import data from an old Google Analytics profile to a new Google Analytics profile?
We have encountered a situation where a client's old SEO firm is refusing to grant us Admin access to our client's existing GA account. For security purposes (so the other SEO firm doesn't delete the existing GA profile) we have started a new Google Analytics profile. Again we do have access to the data in the old account. Is it possible to migrate this old data over (if we just have user access)? Thanks for the help

Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools Setup for Agencies
Hi, As agencies, what are people finding to be the best practices for allowing multiple members of the agency's team to access client WMT and GA data? Have a generic "[email protected]" account that's used for the shares, that anyone in the agency can use as needed (limited, of course, not admin). Have the individual person at the company use their company email for the share for each particular client? [email protected]. Yet what happens when we need someone else to check the GA or WMT data? Any advice is much appreciated.
