Bing still not listing my site after 3 weeks, Google ranks very very low
-
I am scared that somehow the search engines are penalizing me for something, but I don't know what.
The site can be found at http://www.hypnotherapy-guide.com
It is a business directory/advice/guide site listing a lot of hypnotherapists (9000). Is it possible that such a large site popping up over night is flagged by the SE as spam?
I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I agree to a point but if your running a company on the web I would I would open my Who is to allow people to see my company information. I would not use my personal email I would use an email that is tied to your company however has its own individual box and I would set the spam filter extremely high on it. I would also make sure that your company information is listed primarily for spam filters more than search engine optimization however I know that by opening it up you will not be a will to hurt yourself with the search engines by blocking it there's a possibility that you can however if you feel very uncomfortable having people see the information I completely understand however I would strongly recommend just having very general information and then letting your DNS host or web host serve as the technical contact
Check this out #5I'm not saying that this is 100% right but it does make some sensehttp://www.redflymarketing.com/blog/the-5-easiest-ways-to-get-search-engines-to-trust-you/I hope this is of help sincerely, Thomas

Your whois privacy settings shouldn't do much in terms of rankings. Beyond submitting your sitemap, you can also submit URLs of actual pages through Google and Bing with their Fetch as Googlebot and Fetch as Bingbot tools. I'd do that for Bing, as it might help you get into their index faster.
-
Great, thank you for your speedy responses.
I actually did all the web tools for Bing and Google, so I am going to resubmit my sitemap just in case.
In terms of privacy settings, how much does this influence? I ask because I am not trading an d have not set up an official company as of yet, so I don't want to expose my personal details to spammers and the like.
What do you think?
Thanks again

Make sure you let Google and Bing know that your site exists! Set up Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools. Also, you can submit URLs in both to try and get your pages indexed faster.

Your domain needs a little bit more time. Give minimum of six months for it to show up correctly on Google
<abbr title="The company that the domain was registered with.">Registered Through</abbr>:<abbr title="The primary domain name.">Domain Name</abbr>:hypnotherapy-guide.com<abbr title="The day the domain was first registered.">Created</abbr>:2013-06-05<abbr title="The day the domain is set to expire.">Expires</abbr>:2014-06-05<abbr title="The last time the domain was updated/altered.">Updated</abbr>:2013-06-06Also turn off the privacy settings. A lot of websites that evaluate other websites consider that the hiding something. You can use OpenWebExplorer found here to find back links to your domain. I tried it with www. and without and got the same resulthttp://www.opensiteexplorer.org/anchors?site=www.hypnotherapy-guide.com

I assume that this is a brand-new domain?
You have a zero Moz rank for your site http://www.hypnotherapy-guide.com/
So you have to wait a little bit until Google actually make sure it can first index your site which it sounds like it has.
Then you have to get credible content and credible links pointing to your site in order to get a good ranking. You can use Bing Webmaster tools in order to get your site right there quicker and make sure it's indexed faster than it would be without having to use use the tools.
I hope I've been of help to you,
Thomas

Urgent help needed for site move with major ranking loss
URGENT HELP/ADVICE NEEDED I am so stressed and worried about my website domain change. I desperately need advice as soon as possible. I will try my best to keep this as brief as possible. I have owned and operated my punk clothing business online at the URL toofastonline.com for 15 years now. And for a long long time we ranked #1 for punk clothing on Google & life was good. However, thanks to the arrival of several cheap marketplaces and other unanticipated changes our ranking dropped considerably. The last few years have been extremely hard on us, to say the least, we came really close to losing the business altogether. But finally after lots of hard work & long hours, things started to improve. Ranking went back up, and we were busy again. I had been toying with the idea of buying the domain TooFast.com for about 10 years, but I never had the money to do it until this now, so I made the leap and as of Jan 9, toofastonline.com became toofast.com. Unfortunately, I now know that I set up the domain change hastily, without doing any of the pre-work Google suggests to do. I didn’t know it then but I did it wrong. And our site which wasranking #7 for punk clothing on Jan. 8th is now number 51 and today is only Jan 24th! I AM PANICKING. I have looked for help, posting jobs on Shopify Experts site several times now, opening accounts with MOZ and SEM Rush, spending countless hours on the phone with GoDaddy, Shopify and even long chats with Google. I have spent all day everyday for the past two weeks trying fix everything to no avail. No one can start on my site issues fast enough. And I have been given so much wrong information that I feel like I have done irreparable damage. I was (am) not qualified to make this kind of a site change alone. Too much was done too fast and without any real working knowledge Google SEO. My brother was the SEO guy and since he left the business I have just been struggling along with it, just trying to keep my head above water. So now for the big question: Should I temporarily change my Shopify stores domain back to toofastonline.com? This way I couldstart at the beginning, fix all the 404 redirects, fix the 301 redirects, clean up code, get the site in top working condition, and then, as Google suggests in theirGoogle Search Console Change of Address Toolstart to do the change of address in small sections, I can not afford to make any more reckless decisions. I have started and stopped, updated, fixed, changed and tried to fix again too many times now. I dont want Google to think I am trying something shady.. I’m not, I just don’t know what I’m doing, and I need help. Here is as much info as I can think of, I am more than willing to pay for help or do the work myself, as long as what I am doing is the right thing. Any and all help/advice/offers are welcome! Does Google frown on using 3 different page titles with same content to secure the top 3 results in SERPs?
Is it frowned upon by Google to create 3 different pages with the sames content yet different titles to secure the top three results in SERPs? For example: Luxury Care Homes in Liverpool Care Homes in Liverpool Private Care Homes in Liverpool The page titles are different with slightly different meta data but the user content is exactly the same, would this be considered a cheeky win or negative to rankings?

Prioritise a page in Google/why is a well-optimised page not ranking
Hello I'm new to Moz Forums and was wondering if anyone out there could help with a query. My client has an ecommerce site selling a range of pet products, most of which have multiple items in the range for difference size animals i.e. [Product name] for small dog
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | LauraSorrelle
[Product name] for medium dog
[Product name] for large dog
[Product name] for extra large dog I've got some really great rankings (top 3) for many keyword searches such as
'[product name] for dogs'
'[product name]' But these rankings are for individual product pages, meaning the user is taken to a small dog product page when they might have a large dog or visa versa. I felt it would be better for the users (and for conversions and bounce rates), if there was a group page which showed all products in the range which I could target keywords '[product name]', '[product name] for dogs'. The page would link through the the individual product pages. I created some group pages in autumn last year to trial this and, although they are well-optimised (score of 98 on Moz's optimisation tool), they are not ranking well. They are indexed, but way down the SERPs. The same group page format has been used for the PPC campaign and the difference to the retention/conversion of visitors is significant. Why are my group pages not ranking? Is it because my client's site already has good rankings for the target term and Google does not want to show another page of the site and muddy results?
Is there a way to prioritise the group page in Google's eyes? Or bring it to Google's attention? Any suggestions/advice welcome. Thanks in advance Laura0 -
Is Google Certified shops a ranking factor?
Hi This is to spark a debate, rather than an answer which has a specific answer. While Google may claim that being on the certified programme doesn't increase your ranking, but part of their algorithm looks into whether a website is trustworthy. To get accepted onto the certified shops you have to prove your a trust worthy reliable business that constantly gets audited. So surely this must be directly / indirectly be a ranking factor? Just thought I would throw it out there for a debate.

Why some category posts not rank well on Google?
Hello! I have a wired issue. Some categories blog post rank well on the Google, but some of them not in the Google's first 10 page. For an instance if my windows computer related post rank well, but Linux computer related posts not rank well on the Google. After published all the posts, I bookmark them 5-8 bookmarking sites (80% of them do-follow). All of these bookmarking sites have PR 3-6. What could be the reason? And how do I improve their ranking? Thanks!

Is it possible to lose rank because my site's IP changed?
I manage a site on the 3dCart e-commerce platform. I recently updated the SSL certificate. Today, when I tried to log-in via FTP, I couldn't connect. The reason I couldn't connect was because my IP had changed. Last week the site experienced almost across the board rankings drops on lmost every important keyword. Not gigantic drops, a lot just lost 2-4 postiions, but that's a lot when you were #2 and you drop to #4 or # 6. Initially I thought it was because I was attempting to markup my product pages using structured data following guidelines from schema.org. I am not a coder so it was a real struggle, especially trying to navigate 3dCart's listing templates. I thought the rankings drops were Google slapping me for bad code, but now I wonder....could I really have dropped down because of that IP address change? Does anyone have a take on this? Thanks!

Can a Hosting provider that also hosts adult content sites negatively affect our SEO rankings on a non-adult site hosted on same platform?
We're considering moving a site to a host that also offers hosting for adult websites. Can this have a negative affect on SEO, if our hosting company is in any way associated with adult websites?

Who does google require a 3 digit number for news URLs?
Here, google mentions that article URLs should contain a 3 digit number: http://www.google.com/support/news_pub/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=68323 Why is this? Also, do you think it is good to have both a news sitemap and 3 digits at the end of a URL? Or, will one do?
