Newbie Need Step by Step to Track .ca Domaine Redirect from GoDaddy to .com
-
I,
I ask a few time about how to track using Google Analytics, my domain, www.pilatesboisfranc.ca bought at GoDaddy and redirect from the GoDaddy control panel to my domain, http://www.pilatesboisfranc.com/
I don't know anything about coding or webdesign, I did this web site from a theme on wordpress for my wife opening this Pilates Studio in our neighbourhood soon.
http://www.pilatesboisfranc.ca/ is advertise on our car.(it will be nice to see if that advertising is worth it!)
http://www.pilatesboisfranc.ca/ is redirect from GoGDaddy control panel to the site:
http://www.pilatesboisfranc.com/
I had a few answers on this forum, but I'm not sure how to do this. My knowledges are very limited in html and all technical side.
Thank to WordPress, Lynda.com and Theme Forest. Those are the tools I took to built this basic web site.
Can any body help me track this .ca?
I will need a step by step guide to achieve my goal. Google Analytics is instal on the site.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thank you,
BigBlaze

If you have GA on your .com site, it should pick up visitors that are redirected from the .ca domain.
If that isn't the case, another thought is to process the redirect via htaccess and shoot off the tracker code before the page redirects.

What is the difference between "document" and "object" moved redirect errors?
What is the difference between "document" and "object" moved redirect errors? I'm used to see "object moved" as a redirect chain issue that needs to be fixed, but this week my report contained a "document moved" redirect chain issue. And it's on our homepage. Looks like it might be a HTTP versus an HTTPS issue.

Question: Anyone know how to do this in Google Analytics? I'm hoping there's some simple trick I just don't know about. D

Hi! I would like to track everytime a visitor clicks a AJAX contact form's submit button. I created an event in Google Analytics and plan to add some javascript to the submit button code. This is the current submit button code: This is how it'll look after I add the category, action, etc.: Is this correct or am I missing something? Please let me know if you need further detail. Thanks a lot!

301 redirects reduce traffic considerably
I recently identified an issue with our site whereby we had three different URL types for each article. As an example, we might have something like: /articles/my-article-name /articles/my-article-name.aspx /articles/My-Article-Name We've since taken action to address this by implement 301 redirects from the second and third formats to the first (so everything is without the .aspx extension and is in lower case). But the results have been disconcerting. Before the change, one of our articles receives 150 or so hits per day via the .aspx version. The other two existed but had very low traffic (1-3 per day). We decided the non .aspx and lowercase version was the version we wanted. Sure enough, when we introduced the 301 redirects on September 25th the traffic for the .aspx version just stopped (after a day) and the traffic for the non-.aspx version climbed. But not enough. After the change, the non-.aspx version is receiving about 60-70% of the traffic that we used to have on the .aspx version. So, instead of receiving 150 per day (to the .aspx version) we are receiving around 100 or so to the non-.aspx version. This pattern has occured across all our articles and, as a result, our site-wide traffic has dropped by about 40% or so. Since we are using 301 redirects I had assumed that the search engines would just update to reflect the non-.aspx version. I am sure I am missing something here. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks. Mark

Creating a Filter in GA to track Parent Category
I don't know if the title makes sense, but here's my question... Our newspaper website has multiple categories like World, Sport, Entertainment etc. Now, a story, belonging to the entertainment section maybe published on the entertainment page but is likely to have a slot somewhere on the Home page as well as other pages. The same goes for stories in sport etc. However, the url displays the date folllowed by the post title and thats it, no category name. Now, a user may end up going to a detailed story that belongs to the entertainment section (from the home page or any other page) without actually having visited the entertainment page. However, for tracking purposes, we want to see how many hits we got on the entertainment page and any story belonging to that particular section. So, my question is how do I go about creating filters that can help me track category page and detail story hits as one? Or, should I ammend the url structure (keep in mind we are using wordpress for our news website) to include category after the date and would this solve my problem of tracking? I asked a similar question recently but maybe I did not explain myself clearly. Thanks!
