Do I have any harmful links? If so, what should I do?
-
URL in question: www.nasserilegal.com/criminal.html
I'm using OSE and see some questionable backlinks. At first glance, if you look at the page authority and domain authority, they look great. Once you go to the actual pages, they look spammy.
If the links are hurting the rankings for the site, should I try to remove the links manually or just ignore and continue to build good quality links or even build a new site?
I noticed for the last couple of weeks, the rankings started to slip.
Thanks in Advance,
Lucas

Looking at your link profile sorted by anchor text, I can see a few things. First of all, your url is your most popular link and that is good. In looking at your next links they are primarily anchor text. There's nothing wrong with that...in fact that's a good thing.
But I'm concerned when I look at the quality of those links. They are obviously made by an SEO and not natural.
With what we currently believe about Penguin, the fact that the majority of your links are using your url as an anchor is likely enough to keep you from being affected by Penguin. BUT, I would venture a guess that if a competitor decided to file a spam report on you, you could be faced with an unnatural links penalty. I can't say for sure though as I only looked at a few of your links.
At this point, if your ranking is not suffering, I'd probably do nothing about these links. But I certainly wouldn't have your SEO company build any more!
EDIT...I just saw that you said your rankings are slipping. You'd need to dig deeper into your analytics to see if Penguin actually is an issue here or whether there is something else going on. Here is a resource that may help you figure that out: MyTrafficDropped.com/Penguin

I have not received any messages from Google.

Have Google sent you a message indicating that they thik they are spammy? If not then they may not be as bad as your assuming.

What link would be better?
Hi Guys, Just wondering what would be better in this instance: finding an old post (with good authority) and getting a link from that old article or creating a brand new article and adding the link to that. Finding an old post (with good authority) and getting a link from that old article Creating a brand new article and adding the link to that. Both naturally link out to the page you want a link too. To me, number 1 as the page already has authority but then again number 2 since Google might place some weight to recency. Any thoughts? Cheers.

Paid Links on Credible Sites
Hi people. I'm wondering, what would be the effects of having a paid link on a credible site. The site would feature a brand page about my site and link to it. The site has a good domain authority and they are credible with quality content. Ultimately though the link would be paid. Would Google treat this negatively? Or would they pick up on it at all? Thanks, Paul

Outgoing affiliate links and link juice
I have some affiliate websites which have loads of outgoing affiliate links. I've discussed this with a SEO friend and talked about the effect of the link juice going out to the affiliate sites. To minimize this I've put "no follows" on the affiliate links but my friend says that even if you have no follow Google still then diminishes the amount of juice that goes to internal pages, for example if the page has 10 links, 9 are affiliate with no follow - Google will only give 10% of the juice to the 1 internal page. Does anyone know if this is the case? and whether there are any good techniques to keep as much link juice on the site as possible without transferring to affiliate links? Appreciate any thoughts on this! Cheers
