Big drop in rankings, any explanation ?
-
Hi everybody,
I've been working on the subdomain http://fr.mt.com since a few month and on the last crawl on the keyword "accessoire de mesure" i had a big drop from rank 3 to not in top 50 and I cant figure why.
Here is the page : http://fr.mt.com/fr/fr/home/products/Laboratory_Analytics_Browse/Meter_family_page/Meter_Accessor.html - PA : 30 DA : 71
I did an on page report to get a grade and i got... A on this keyword. I know this page is not perfect (lack of content) but in my opinion it still relevant on this keyword.
Do you have any idea of what happened ?
Thanks in advance for your answers

Thank you all for your Answers, I think the best solution is to craft content on this page. I hope it will be back soon on first page

To go deeper: average text of #1 pages in Google = 2000 to 2400 words. Adding a relevant text would be a good idea.
I checked the first results for "accessoire de mesure" on Google.fr
They don't sell the same product than you. There might be a semantic issue here.
According to Google, accessoire de mesure = building or sewing sector.
http://www.conrad.fr/ce/fr/category/SHOP_AREA_37381/Appareil-de-mesure
http://www.matopo.fr/mesure/accessoires-de-mesure/index.html
Quite the same for Google Images.
Is accessoire de mesure a good converting keyword in your industry ? Is it used by your competitors ?
Besides adding text, I would suggest to get a simple French URL + 301 redirect the old one.
IE : from http://fr.mt.com/fr/fr/home/products/Laboratory_Analytics_Browse/Meter_family_page/Meter_Accessor.html to something like fr.met.com/accessoire-de-mesure

I'm also finding duplicate content on a few of the other sub domains... Here
-
One thing I noticed is that there is a ton of code on that page with very little content. That's pretty offsetting to Google. Not to mention way to many footer links. There are over 400 total internal and external links (100 is the recommended) on that page.
You also have a ton of language variation pages injected into the html. A good way to clean that up is to use a sitemap instead.

Thank you for answering, yes I see the drop in manual research and this is why i'm worried. On the first page on google there is also pages with very poor content so I don't understand why this one has drop.
Thank you for the pop-up issue, I will tell them to fix it asap.

It might be relevant in terms of keywords, but there really isn't any content on that page at all. Like you said, lack of content.
Just a brief view of the page, but there are also lots of other reasons why this has dropped. If you do a search yourself, do you see this drop?
Edit-- Also, your contact form is being blocked as a pop-up, so would have a look at this also.

Ranking for keywords in multiple zip codes
Hello, We are trying to rank for keywords locally. We are on the edge of four zip codes in our area and are competing with businesses in those zip codes. Should we track each keyword separately for each zip code, or just one zip code we're in?

Changed from www to non-www lost all rank. Will it return?
My web site used https://www.domain.com for the past 18 months. We finally got to #3 position for our top keyword. We changed web servers and our wordpress admin section somehow got changed to https://domain.com. As you can imaging I'm not too happy. We do have 301 redirects installed. Yesterday I noticed that our site was not ranking anymore. In fact, all our pages and our site URLs at https://www.domain.com have been de-indexed. I assume because that no longer exists. Using site: all the web pages under https://domain.com (which were identical to the old www) are now listed. All of them. However, none are showing in searches unless we search for the business name. They are not appearing under keyword searches. I would assume that the 301s (which are installed property) would make the site keep it's rank, as the pages are all identical. Will we ever get our rank back? Should we switch back to www? Or do the 301s just take time to hit? How long if that's the case?

Should I concentrate keyword ranking locally or nationally?
Hi all, I have spent few last days reading here in community and watching Moz videos about keyword research. I used keywords planner tool. Here is the question. When I researched keywords I took into account search traffic nationwide UK rather then my local search volume. My photography business operates more for local customers rather then nationwide. Does it mean that I need to concentrate on my local city/region search volume rather then nationwide. After I have done Nationwide keyword research I realised that most of those keywords which are with really high search volumes are pretty much non existent in my local search results. I meant to the point that keyword search volume is under 10. Considering that I have small number of pages i could use them for, my guess is that it is no point to target those high search volume keywords as most likely those won't be my clients anyway. I might be getting all this wrong, but wanted to ask here. Thank you all, Regards, Armands

Ranks moving up & Down for a certain keyword search
Hi, We had lost rankings for certain keywords completely from google's index about 5 months ago. Recently the rank for the keyword reappeared on google. But it keeps moving up and down. One day on 26th position, next day it is on 45th position, then it comes back to 30th position. This has been going on for over a week now. What is the cause of this ? can someone shed some light on it ? Thank you

Does adding the suffix "-ing" affect ranking for a keyword? E.g. "build" vs "building"
In other words, let's say the keyword I wanted to rank for was "building a home" but the SERP only showed sites ranking for "build a home". If I specifically optimized my page for "building a home" would that increase my chances for ranking for "building a home"?

Should my Google rank be different to actual SERP results?
In my reports this week I was delighted to see "emergency power" at #8 for http://apexgenerators.co.uk/emergency-power/ but then today seems to have jumped to page 4 in SERPS? Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks, Laura

Branded vs Generic keywords - is Google treating their rank equaly!?
Several times I have noticed that website receiving sort of a rankings drop penalty for certain wrongly built on-page strategies that involves keyword stuffing, wrong keyword density(too much) etc. The question is - how you guys think - is branded keywords receiving the same treatment from Google then generic ones? And here is why - for one popular brand I see that they ranking for their brand keyword very high(1th) but keyword density is awful - more then 10%. So, my guess is - if this keyword density you would apply for generic keyword you will end up nowhere to be found for it! Is that could be truth? Any experiments info about that? thanks and regards, Jungles
