Benefit of Comments in SERPs

I found the posts with comments are ranking much better for my blog.
But most of the users are commenting on Facebook, when I share my content. Thats bad, because I don't have this discussion on my site. I am using the standard WordPress commenting system.
No a good commenting option for my would be Facebook comments (or Comments Evolved is also a quite nice plugin for FB, G+ and WP comments). The question is? Does Google still give these Facebook comments on my site as much value as 'native' WordPress comments. Or are they discounted in some way?
The second question of course would be, if it is wise to hand over all of the comments to Facebook and loosing control over them. But I think I could dramatically increase comments if I switch to Facebook commenting system...

If you think you would get more discussion using Facebook's Commenting platform, go for it. Be sure to have the comments pulled in via API and rendered on the page, so you keep your SEO benefits. Read more on this page: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/comments
You can probably find a Wordpress plugin that takes care of this for you.

Google SERP shows wrong (and inappropriate) thumbnail for Facebook videos?
Hello I'm running into a strange issue with at least one of my client's video. The video is posted on Facebook. When searching for the video on Google, the SERP shows a completely wrong, and inappropriate, thumbnail image. (And in one case the preview video starts playing within Google SERP.) It also seems that Google is indexing various countries' facebook page for the same video separately (it-it.facebook.com, fr-fr.facebook.com, etc). Note that only the thumbnail and preview video within Google are wrong; if you click on the link, you see the correct video and page. I hesitate to divulge the actual client video, but there are some reports on Google's search community about the same behavior: Here's one that stargs back in March: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/33760205?hl=en and a more recent one: https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/71452151?hl=en It looks increasingly like a bug in some google algorithm, but nobody at google seems to acknowledge that. I've unpublished the original video from FB and submitted an 'outdated content' removal to Google, which is pending. In the meantime, my questions for our group of experts here: Has anyone else experienced this and any other suggestionso n how to fix? If we assume that this is not a google bug: how could a malicious actor or black-hat SEO influence Google's algorithms to cause this? Thanks, mickey

Hi Mozers I'm in the process of trying to secure a client that requires social media expertise. I want to be able to use my SEO knowledge as a benefit. I am struggling to explain in simple terms how a knowledge of SEO underpins a good Social Media campaign. Why dont we get G+ profile images in SERP?
Hi! We have a blog on our Swedish Car site. We have around 10 bloggers that blog frequently for us. Most of them have a Google+ profile and has added us to the "contributes to" field. We also have a rel=me tag on each post. Still after serveral weeks, the Google+ profile picture isnt showing up in the search results. Are there any proven SEO benefits of presence and popularity on Facebook, just as there is supposedly benefit from Google+?
How much does visibility on Facebook (or for that matter, Twitter) impact search engine results? I did see a post recently on SEOMoz recently related to that--- but do others have similar experience/ have data to show strong correlation between FB shares/ Likes and search engine results (on Google)? The second, FB-related question is: what are your thoughts on the effectiveness of Facebook for a B2B audience, particularly in a rather niche sector - let's say industrial products? Best practices to add Facebook comments to wordpress blog?
Our website (noahsdad.com) has a very large and active Facebook group (http://facebook.com/noahsdadcom). Often there are more comments on the Facebook posting of a link, than on the blog post itself. I try to get people go and leave comments on the blog, but they don't get it. So I'd like to try to find a way to get Facebook comments to transfer to our site. I"m not sure the best way to do this....either via a plug in, or via these instructions https://developers.facebook.com/attachment/Comments_Best_Practices_FINAL.pdf/ I'd just like to get it going..and not mess up the comment's I have now. (Also not everyone has Facebook, so I'd like them to still be able to comment the 'old' way (name/email). Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction with this. Thanks.

Shared articles in the SERP's - who sees these shares?
Hi Folks, I am trying to find out a little more about how individuals need to be connected to see that someone 'shared' something and for this to then show up in my results when signed into Google. Can anyone shed a little more light on this please? I am just looking for extra clarification. Would we need to be connected through Google Buzz? Facebook? Twitter? Quora? LinkedIn? None of the above? With everyone you are connected to through your Google Account? What is Google using when it looks at how I am connected with others?
