Long tail pattern pages
-
I have a number of clients offering a number of services on our platform. Currently we have only client profiles online but were thinking now to create landing pages for each client and each service based on long tail keyword patterns we saw emerge.
This would increase the number of landing pages by 10x but since those long tail keyword landing pages are fairly similar for each client+service combination we were wondering what issues we could run into with this approach.
Can our domain get penalized if we do this or would possible duplicate pages just not rank? Or is this all with in the rules? -
If you prospects are querying Google for a certain term, Google wants to display relevant information to the best of their ability. If these terms are longtails, finding a relevant page may be difficult for them. So creating optimized & valuable landing pages that focus on the user experience is GOOD.
Creating this type of content can be difficult and resource intensive. So, I was pointing out, you can look for clusters of contextually related keywords and create landing page for those clusters.
A content farm (is usually defined) as sites that focus on content that they can monetize and typically written strictly for search engines and not visitors. Also, many of them "repurpose" content is from other sources. Since much of the content is not unique/valuable, typically will get dinged.
-
But if I end up creating a big number of these landing pages, it would appear to be some sort of content farm, correct? Even if it makes it more convenient for a user to book a service of our clients.
-
Remember landing page entries can be from multiple kw's. If the long-tail kw's are rather similar, and are truly long-tail, one page could be sufficient as those long-tails exact kw's do not need to be on the page. I also strongly encourage having unique content on all landing pages.
So, if you create a landing page for Polka Dotted Blu-Ray Players, your landing page will have high organic rankings for all of these queries:
Green Polka Dotted Blu-Ray player
Polka-dotted Blu-Ray Player that Silver
Blu-Ray Player with Polka DotsNo need to create landing pages for all of these since they are relevant.
Will you get "penalized" for create all separate landing pages for these and use same content? Probably not, but Google LOVES unique content.

How long should it take for indexed pages to update
Google has crawled and indexed my new site, but my old URLS appear in the search results. Is there a typical amount of time that it takes for Google to update the URL's displayed in search results?

301 from old site to new one , Should I point to home page or sub category page ?
Hey Seo Experts, I have a small website ranking for few terms like cabinets sale, buy etc . However what i have now decided is to launch a New website with more different products like living room furniture, wardrobes etc . Out of all these categories on new website Cabinets is one of the SubCategory . Now I do not want to have 2 websites . So wanted to 301 from small cabinets website to newly created website. Some of the doubts I have at the moment is ? 1 Should I REDIRECT 301 to sub category (i,e cabinets) which is purely related to Cabinets or Do a Redirect to HOME PAGE . As I also need more Authority to home page as well , as this is relatively new website ? 2 Second question related to this. If you have multiple sub domains does it divide the total authority & TF.Or it is just Ok to have multiple Sub domains if needed ? Any advice appreciated !! Thanks .

How do you make short tail keyword determinations when combined with long tail when there is not enough search volume to provide info
Confusing question, allow me to elaborate We have a few pages that target a particular doctor for example. One of those pages is about his backround. His short tail is his name "Dr Irving Weiss" for example, low competition of course and already too low of search volume to show in Google keywords tool (which i know isn't the best tool) so now one of his tab pages addresses info on his medical background (credentials, schools, awards, sanctions) if you search for those single keywords alone you get something like this hospitals 74,000 background 673,000 credentials 49,000 but that doesn't necessarily mean more people will search like "dr irving weiss background" than they will "dr irving weiss credentials" just because background has more searches "dr irving weiss background" and "dr irving weiss credentials are way too low search volume to have any data on, so how can you come to a proper keyword targeting conclusion when the data is not there? THANKS IN ADVANCE for any insight!

No longer showing for 'money' phrases but long tail combinations rank high?
I hope someone can shed some light on this as I've been pulling my hair out so much there's hardly any left! Background: 12 year old website that for about 10 years had Top 3 rankings for 100's of phrases but rankings first dropped off August 2011. Panda seemed to be the cause but finding the exact issue is hard. We are an online travel agent and every hotel page has duplicate content copied from other websites. This has not been changed although lots of sections in the site still rank well, so do the hotel pages themselves. Lots of internal duplicate issues have been resolved but with no effect. Our old style link, link, link all day long with our 2-word main key phrase as anchor text has given us an unnatural backlink profile but no message has been left by G about this in WMT (yet). Internal link structure is poor with all pages linking back to the homepage with our 'money' 2-word phrase in 3 places. Penguin wiped two thirds of all our backlinks back in May 2012. Why then, do we still rank for our 'money' phrase on the homepage when it has some extra words included and becomes long tail? e.g. CityName Apartments (money phrase) - Now ranks page 2-3 CityName Apartments to rent for the night - Ranks #2 on Google in all countries To make things more confusing other pages rank really well for similar money phrase e.g. CityName Apartments Offers - Ranks 2nd on 185,000,000 results (not homepage) It seems only the homepage is effected (where 95% of inbound links point) but if the site wide duplicates or unnatural link profile was flagged it would effect more than one page of the site. Wouldn't it?

Why will google not index my pages?
About 6 weeks ago we moved a subcategory out to becomne a main category using all the same content. We also removed 100's of old products and replaced these with new variation listings to remove duplicate content issues. The problem is google will not index 12 critcal pages and our ranking have slumped for the keywords in the categories. What can i do to entice google to index these pages?

No equivalent page to re-direct to for highly trafficked pages, what should we do?
We have several old pages on our site that we want to get rid of, but we don't want to 404 them since they have decent traffic numbers. Would it be fine to set up a 301 re-direct from all of these pages to our home page? I know the best option is to find an equivalent page to re-direct to, but there isn't a great equivalent.
