Should I remove backlink from templated page?
-
Hi,
I manage 2 websites; website A and website B. Both websites are hosted on the same webserver.
Website A is significantly more established than Website B with a better domain authority and much netter keyword rankings. I have a backlink from website A to Website B. The link is do-follow and is in a sidebar template that appears on just about every page of website A. Also, this template is used in nearly all of the subdomains of website A for a total of 1,362 pages.
It occurs to me that Google might see this as unnatural.
I am considering removing this link from the template and adding it to the content of the landing page so that we have only one link from Website A to Website B.
It seems rational to me but I'd like a second opinion, please.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I like that. I think that I'll adapt it to insert a nofollow rel into the link in question on pages other than Site A's Homepage.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Both sites belong to the same company. Site A sells villas in Ireland and Site B sells luxury villas worldwide. There are no keywords in the links. The keyword rankings for Site B got hammered after Penguin 3.0, you can almost hear them whistling as they plummet into oblivion. I'm looking for cause. I will nofollow the link except for the one on the homepage only.
Thanks you for your help and advice.

I have a different opinion for this.
It's just one domain for me and it's not a million pages. Both are yours. Just leave the link alone. Either way, you can always remove it anytime.
If I'm really bothered, I would just make it a link on one page of that domain.
It's like all those sites having blogrolls, nothing really happened to them. You can look around other blogs, SEO guys, accountant, mommy bloggers, etc. They do that all the time.
That is, unless they were multiple artificial blogs from their own private networks specifically to boost their SEO/game google.

Hey,
I used to have the same problem with some backlinks til i´ve found this script that helps me not to replicate the url from my backlink to all the pages around the site.
If you want to try it. Hope it helps you.

What is the relationship between site A and site B? Is it a "legitimate" "owned by or managed by the same company" relationship that would exist even if SEO didn't exist?
If so, it is valid to link from one site to another. If not, those links become more questionable as to "why are these here?" understanding.
Even if there is a legitimate reason outside of SEO, what is the overall signal? If they're keyword based links and not just using anchor text that shows the name of the destination site, they're more vulnerable to suspicion.
Even in those situations where there is a legitimate "we're just providing links to another property we own" links, and they're not using keyword anchor text, there is still some "slight" vulnerability, however it's minor compared to keyword anchors or "not here for reasons outside SEO" issues. Because of that, the best practice is to nofollow them just to be "safe" in the age of Penguin and manual reviewers who might mistake a legitimate linking reason for an attempt to over-optimize inbound links.

Should my backlinks point to my home page or to internal article pages?
Hi, I run a fitness blog and I get the majority of my backlinks through guest posts that I write on high quality sites. Sometimes they allow me to put a backlink within the article, and I'll link it to a relevant article of mine. However, in the "author bio" section my backlink anchor text is usually just my brand name. I was wondering if this backlink should point towards my home page or is it more beneficial to point it towards an important article of mine? Thanks

Content of the Product Page
Hi Everybody : how can you tell if the content on the product pages are accessible by google ? please have a look at my product page : http://www.fireplaceproducts.co.uk/stoves/aarrow-stoves/aarrow-ecoburn-defra-wood-burning-stove/ i used classes in product page to set the key features, construction ,... i notices other companies done these as text and they get better ranks do you think that's the reason ? also to test that i added the text exact same as the key features , construction ,... as additional information at the end of the product page , would you thin that would be considered as duplication ? Kind Regards Arta

I have well over 110 identical backlinks of widely varying quality - is it worth taking the page they're linking to down?
The site on which I'm working has been experiencing a month-to-month decline since the Panda and Penguin updates - I didn't get an unnatural links notification, but have clearly fallen off the face of Google with many of the more important rankings. After running a scan on my backlinks, I found over 110 identical backlinks (it looks like the same medical definition and my website is listed in the endnotes as a source - just the URL, not anchor text), some from reputable websites with high pageranks and others that look very 'spammy.' We've redesigned the architecture of the site, so the actual link itself has a 301 redirect on it, but I'm just wondering exactly how much of a liability is it to have these links out there? I'm guessing it's an all or nothing kind of thing given the identical content on each page - on one hand, I'm pretty frantic to get to the root of the Google penalties and get back in their good graces. On the other hand, I don't want to kill the site completely by going after a set of valuable links. Has anyone dealt with this before?

My competitors all seem to use "junk" pages to rank / backlink, how to compete and not cheat
Hello, Page 1 of Google for the word "copier lease" and most other valuable copier leasing terms are dominated by the same 4-5 for organic (PPC too of course, but organic is what I want) They all use some SEO company, so when I go and look for good link oppertunities, most of the pages I find are just SEO companies who of couse would never be interested in a competitor's link. Examples: ajaxunion blogspot com or excellentpoly blogspot com and the list goes on, all just AjaxUnion "blog pages". blog homerenovationguide com /2011/06/15/repair-or-replace is just inhouse SEO making ranking pages for CostOwl. So, its hard NOT to want to throw up a blog farm and do as "the Romans do". What ideas do you all have to get backlinks in this market of Copier Leasing that would hold up. Thanks 6SW66.png 6SW66.png

Building backlinks for a newspaper site?
Anyone have tips on building links to a newspaper site? I am looking for a strategy to create links to a news site beyond building one link at a time. We have so much content that is constantly updated that it would be impossible to do this one page at a time.

Why are Backlinks not showing up?
I've been building backlinks for about 2 months now, but the links are not showing up in seomoz. What is going on? I've built backlinks across many different domains and using a variety of techniques including: directories blog posts blog commenting pr websites industry sites that allow blog posting and press release posting industry forums Some of the links I built were from finding links competitors had and then creating a similar link, like blog commenting. In some cases I took blog articles from our site and published them on industry blog sites. I've searched for many of the pages and I CAN find them, so they ARE being indexed by Google, but they are not showing up as backlinks. I've read some posts that say it can take anywhere from 2 to 5 months or longer before the links show up. I've also read that Google's Webmaster Tools may show the links before seomoz does. Couple questions: Why don't the links show up as backlinks in seomoz? Will they show up eventually in seomoz and, if so, when? Should the links show up in Google Webmaster tools before they do in seomoz? Is there any good reason to believe some of the links will never get recognized, or should I be confident that they will eventually get recognized?
