One guy using some Alexa rank tricks to gain high PR etc..?
-
Hi!
One finnish guy is getting pretty nice Alexa ranking to his sites, even if the real traffic is not somewhere near it would lead for that cool Alexa rank. I am a bit suspisious if he is using some Low Bounce Rate High Traffic Boosters on his sites..
I will give you some examples here to look into..
Vihjepaikka(dot)com - Created on 2013-03-13 - Alexa Rank 129k!!! - PR3 - Backlinks not many qualitys..
Casinolla(dot)net - Created on 2014-10-15 - Alexa Rank 351k!!! - PR0 - Backlinks 0!!!
Cashadvance777(dot)com - Created on 2014-09-04 - Alexa Rank 772k!!! - PR3 - Backlinks 0!!!
Let me know your thoughts on these..
Cheers!

Hi and cheers for your response!
I think there is 1 important point which everyone should notice. Using Alexa toolbar + visiting through it on your own sites and acting for getting low bounce rate and visiting several pages with long time spent on site. Google is looking on to those as a ranking factors..
Ps.. I am using Link Research Tools, SemRush, MOZ and Ahrefs as my main SEO tools, have been using them for years now. Sorry, not meant to advertise those, but just wanted to mention that i am using many tools at the moment.. And, quality ones..
Thanks,

Hi there,
Alexa is very inaccurate. For the top 50k site in the world its it can be in the right ball park, But for you average Kononen its way off. Just by installing Alexa toolbar yourself and visiting your own site can make you site jump by 10ks in the rankings.
Semrush would be a better alternative, but ultimately your own analytics and a good rank checking software is a far better way to measure your sites growth.
Hope it helps you.

Hi and thanks for your response!
I do know about the latest news of PR, but still i wonder what is going on..
I just noticed that Cashadvance has been registered first time in 2010, so it is not brand new domain. Sorry about that..
Still though, Casinolla.net is barely 1 month old and it already gained 351k Alexa. Lets just not compare this to any Google PR or Google rankings, just please tell me how Alexa is that impressive that fast..
I was able to contact him earlier, but only thing he said was he is using Alexa toolbar which may possible lead to that nice Alexa.. Which is very hard to believe...

But...this won't affect his ranking in Google, Bing or Yahoo. It might make his site look a little better to a potential acquirer, or someone he's trying to sell ads to.
Google PR will NOT be affected by these tactics. And Google PR, as we see it in the toolbar etc., was last updated about a year ago, and Google has no plans to update it going forwards.
Those PR numbers in your examples are from last December...which tells me they're the PR values from the prior owner's site.
But the real PageRank that's actually part of the algorithm won't be affected either--they don't look at Alexa ranking.

Free tool, and it ranks well for adult sites and checking if they are down, will that hurt us with ranking for normal sites with google?
Hi all, We rank for searches around "is youporn down" and similar because we provide a free tool to check if a website is up or down: https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/youporn I am worried that ranking for these adult searches is hurting us with ranking for things like "is reddit down", thoughts? I'd appreciate some input!

Permanently Moving Few High Ranking Pages from One Domain to Another
We are planning to move few high ranking pages permanently (301 Permanent Redirection) to another domain, Currently these pages are getting good traffic from organic search and ranking on top positions in Google search engine result pages. We have few questions in our mind right now, It would be a great help if anyone can answer following questions; Is it possible to move few pages from one domain to another by using 301 Redirection in .htaccess file? Will it have any negative impact on our website's current search engine performance? Will it be considered as a legitimate SEO practice by Google Search Engine? Will Google understand that these pages have been moved permanently to another domain and start showing URL's from the new domain on the same positions where they were ranking before moving to new location?

Does that concept really work. Any experience? I've registered and so far I think it's hard to measure whether the shares are spam or genuine. Would love to see it works for someoneThanks

Competitor is using a blog network - worth reporting?
Hey guys, Today I checked the backlink profile of a competitor who is #1 in Google Australia for a highly competitive keyword. To my surprise though, every single link (except a few directory link) seems to be from a private blog network. It's a business selling advertisment products, yet somehow seems to have links on blog from website that sell pc repair services, sleepwear, bali villas rentals, etc.. In this case, would filing a spam report in google WMT be beneficial? It's not like they advertise that they sell links (nor are the websites the links are on), but it is quite clear that something dodgy is going on. Thanks

Big Rank Drop - Is My Site Spammy?
Like many others one of our niche sites - aluminumeyewear.com got slammed in the recent algo updates (4/18). All of our pages dropped at least 40/50 places which seems like a penalty to me. The site still ranks for its name thankfully. I'm trying to figure out if this is an over-optimization penalty, or a devaluing of back links or both. I would be grateful if I could get some feedback as to whether you feel the site is over optimized and how I could check if sources of back links have been penalized which in turn has effected us? Thanks in advance!

Is using twiends.com to get twitter followers considered black hatting?
Hi, I've been struggling to get followers on Google Plus and Twitter, and recently stumbled upon twiends.com. It offers an easy service that allows you to get twitter followers very quickly. Is this considered black hating? Even if Google doesn't consider the followers as valid, am I likely to be punished if using their service? Even if it doesn't help rankings, it is nice to have lots of followers so that they will see my tweets which has the potential to drive more traffic to my site, and give awareness to my business. What are your thoughts?

Why is the rankings for certain targeted keywords dropping sharply in the past few weeks?
Excuse me here I can't reveal the website url here due to the confidentiality. Background: This website has about 100+pages, and is a wordpress site. Out of 15 targeted keywords, there are few ranked first on Google.co.uk. others are ranked between 3rd and 50+. In the past couple of weeks, we have been submitting to various websites/directories. and 4 main keywords' rankings are improving steadily from 50+ to 20+. We don't buy links, or pay for link exhcanges. We only exchange links on rare occasions. Symptoms: 1. 2 out of 4 main keywords dropped its rankings from 20+ to 80+ 4 weeks ago over night. 2. We kept on acquiring links from directories and websites, and 2 weeks after the drop, the rankings of 2 affected keywords had gradually made its way back to 20-30. Just we thought the glitch was over, these 2 keywords has dropped rankings to 50+ once again. 3. The change of rankings looks too suspicious to us, so we went to use the Moz tool, and discovered the domain authority has also dropped 25% of its value in a month time. We never experienced such violent changes in terms of rankings in such a short period of time. My question is: what factors there are to have caused such violent shifts? Why the value of the domain authority is dropped by 25%-30%? What elements affect the domain authority the most?

How do I find out if a competitor is using black hat methods and what can I do about it?
A competitor of mine has appeared out of nowhere with various different websites targetting slightly different keywords but all are in the same industry. They don't have as many links as me, the site structure and code is truly awful (multiple H1's on same page, tables for non-tabular data etc...) yet they outperform mine and many of my other competitors. It's a long story but I know someone who knows the people who run these sites and from what I can gather they are using black hat techniques. But that is all I know and I would like to find out more so I can report them.
