Do you Feel Street View for inside a local business is a ranking factor for the local algorithm?

I'm working in a market where the Google Trusted photographer is rolling out. The question came up if providing this data would boost your rankings in the local map pack. I've been asking a few fellow SEO peeps but I thought I would throw it out here for your opinion.

My pleasure...and, yes, correlation is probably not causation in this scenario. Probably lots of other factors at play.
I hope there will be more documentation and commentary on this topic soon. The slideshows are pretty neat. But, as you say, the price is somewhat hefty.

Thanks for your thoughts Miriam. That's kind of where I am with it. It just got rolled out in my area and one of my clients got pitched by the photographer. It's pretty steeply priced at a grand to shoot a small space. It definitely doesn't have the ROI on its own. What was interesting is I looked through the photographer's client list and I noticed one of the clients is ranked in the local search #1 for a very competitive keyword in our area. I know the mantra of correlation and causality, but it made me wonder a little bit.

Despite the fact that Google began rolling this out two years ago, there has been so little writing or research done on it. I read Local SEO news on a daily basis, and have yet to encounter any of the top Local SEOs saying that they implemented this for a client and saw X impact on the rankings. I actually just spoke with Darren Shaw who has a client who did this and he did not feel it impacted rankings, but as I say, people just haven't really published studies on this (not that I've seen, anyway).Thinking this over, the one way I could hypothesize that this might have some small impact on rankings could be user behavior. This is a big 'if'. If participation were, for example, to cause users to stay on the + page longer, and if Google chose to view this as a signal that the page was more trusted or more active or some other positive attribute like that (I'm not saying they do, mind you), then perhaps that could slightly influence rank, but I wouldn't bank on it. And because you can't tell that a business has participated in this program until you're actually on their page, CTR can't be part of picture. So, no ranking factor there.
I think this app needs to be viewed more from a conversion standpoint than a ranking one. To my mind there are 2 things to consider here.

Client motive...whether the client's business has a strong visual component that could make a virtual walk-through persuasive to the user. For example, a beautiful restaurant can show off it's gorgeous setting, but a car garage might not have that same desire/need.

Google has always loved neat technology, so there is a 'coolness' factor, of course, but this program is a way to increase participation in Adwords Express, so Google has a very good reason to want business owners to participate.
I hope these are some good thoughts to consider, Bill, but as I've said, this whole issue has been so little documented, that I just don't have an authoritative answer beyond suggesting that this more about conversions than rankings, from what I can see.

Big ranking drop after 12/Jan/2017
Hello, moz users. Has anyone confirmed that keyword ranking dropped since last few days? I've tracked several keyword ranking by Moz and SEMrush and the ranking dropped big time on both tools today. one of the keywords dropped its ranking from 10 to out of SERP. Mozcast has shown high temperature so I assume there is or has been algo update but I would like to know someone encountered the same issue. Thanks.

Any suggestions why I would rank 1 on google and be on 3rd page for bing/yahoo?
Currently the site I'm working on ranks very well on google rankings but then when we cross reference into yahoo and bing we are basically in the graveyard of keywords. (bottom of 3rd page). Why would that be? Any suggestions or things I can do to fix this or troubleshoot it? Here are some things I can think of that might affect this but not sure. 1. our sitemap hasn't been updated in months and URL changes have been made 2. Onsite for yahoo and bing is different from google? 3. Bing is just terrible in general? 4. Inbound links? This one doesn't make sense though unless the search engines rank links in different ways. All jokes aside I would really appreciate any help as currently the few top ranked keywords we have are about 30% of our organic traffic and would have a huge affect on the company if we were able to rank as we should across all platforms. Google Mobile Algorithm update
Hi there, On April the 21st Google seems to going to update their Mobile algorithm. I have a few questions about this one. Our current mobile website is very mobile friendly. We block all mobile pages with a noindex, so the desktop pages have been indexed on mobile devices. We use a redirect from desktop page to mobile page when someone hits a result on a mobile device. My gut tells me this is not April 21st-proof so I'm thinking about an update to make this whole thing adaptive. By making the thing adaptive, our mobile pages will be indexed instead of the desktop pages. Two questions: Will Google treat the mobile page as a 100% different page than the desktop page? Or will it match those two because everything will tell Google those belong together. In other words: will the mobile page start with a zero authority and will pages lose good organic positions because of authority or not? Which ranking factor will be stronger after April 21st for mobile pages: page authority or mobile friendliness? In other words: is it worth ignoring the 21 April update because the authority of the desktop pages is more important than making every page super mobile friendly? Hope to get some good advice! How soon before author rank becomes a major ranking factor?
Hi, I wanted to pose a question How soon do guys think itll be before author rank becomes a one of Googles major ranking factors? From what I can see the way they have designed it signals that it is only matter of time, before they start using it as a major ranking factor... And I have a question on Author ranks impact on the ability to sell a blog/site in the future. Surely if the blog is tied to an author(s) and the ranking of the site in the search engine is somewhat based on this authors author rank who is a part of the site/blog, then it becomes harder to sell the property if the author is not going to be a part of the property after the sale?. Rankings drop
Hi! Since the new Penguin rollout, we've seen rankings drop for http://www.leanonturkey.co.uk/ for the terms 'turkey recipes' (UK) and 'low fat recipes' (UK) from #4 and #15 respectively. This may be down to very strong competition, but I'm also concerned over the on-page content, which may not be detailed enough. Any tips would be much appreciated!

A rating on report card - Massive drop in rankings (Is it Penguin?)
Hi All, I would really like a second opinion on my current issue and I'd be very grateful for the communities knowledge please . I have a been running a successful campaign for one of my clients, increase in natural SERP's, etc. But since the 24th of April they were hit and hit hard and continued to decline now. They had many top 5 listings for terms and now most are not in top 50 serps. Openly I know they have a bad or not great backlink profile which was inherited from the past agency, but we're working on this using white hat techniques, contextual copy, brand etc. The copy is a great, contextual and no where near spammy at all... Very nicely written, factual, etc. What I don't understand is this SEOmoz's On-Page report card gives an A rating for the target term which is also a secondary term but was ranking high. Is anybody else seeing large scale rankings drops in Bing this week?
I track around 1000 keywords for this site, and my rankings in Bing dropped for about half of them on Wednesday. No major changes have been made to the site, rankings are maintaining or improving in Google for a majority of these same terms. The average drop seems to be around 9-12 places, which to me signals more than just standard fluctuation. Anyone else seeing anything strange with Bing this week? Or does anyone have any ideas? I looked for posts about an algorithm change but haven't found anything. Thanks.

SEO updates and rank changes
We have been updating page titles and meta descriptions for a client (not changing ANY links and the content we are replacing is "fluff," no major keywords or any relevant information) yet in the past few weeks, rankings have plummeted. I used the SEOMoz grader to check and make sure we have the keywords in there, in the right places for the updated page source info, and we're getting A's yet for those same keywords, the website is nowhere to be found. For example for the phrase "organic t shirts," we get an A for this page: http://greenpromotionalitems.com/organic-t-shirts.htm but when searching organic t shirts, no Green Promotional Items... Ideas?
