E-Book Versus Whitepaper - Which Term to Use?
-
So I have read several articles about the use of terms e-books versus whitepapers. Both pros and cons to use for each. Do you have any experience on which has worked better for you - converted more traffic, gotten more interest, etc?
Would love to hear your experience on these terms.
Thanks.

This is a perfect example where anecdotal evidence is going to be next to useless. As Irving mentions, so much is going to depend on your website, your target market, your content etc.
This is exactly what A/B split testing is for. Don't guess - let your actual potential clients tell you!
Set up a split-tested landing page with one variation for each of the two terms. Make sure you assess not just click-through rate, but also quality of generated leads.
You could also run a brief Adwords campaign, split-testing between the two terms, to get a very fast picture of which attracts more attention. Again, you'll also want to assess the quality of that attention, not just the quantity.

The type of visitor attracted to your site would be different demographics than another site so just because one format works better for someone doesn't mean it would perform the same way on your site.
The main goal is probably to capture leads (emails) right? So site placement/location of serving up the offer, optimization of lead gen (ease of registration), and messaging are more important to the success in my opinion than the format which the information is available in. Both formats can be read by any device so if people want the info they're grab it regardless. You could offer both formats to cover both bases too.

Is image SEO worth it for e-commerce?
I have been trying to find any case studies of people who have optimized images for SEO for their e-commerce website, but haven't been able to find any case study, indicating obtained results. I am wondering how much increase in Google Image search traffic others have been able to obtain when optimizing their e-commerce images for image SEO. I need this information to justify development resources needed for for example an image sitemap, changes to file names and alt texts, title tags and possibly EXIF data. File size is already ok. Hope someone has experience with this and can share some results. Also, would be great if Moz would do a Whiteboard Friday about this 🙂 (hint!).

Domain and Sub-Domain Question
Hi, My company owns the domains www.NYSTATEMLS.COM and www.MYSTATEMLS.COM both of these sites are already on there way with a lot going on. I did just review video 5 on technical SEO and Rand was talking about how much harder it is to rank two websites. So i'm wondering what could be done in this area? Should something be done? The website nystatemls.com is necessary because it's dedicated to the state of new york & has been around for a long time. mystatemls.com came later because the business grew and we opened up to the national market. Looking for some insight. Thanks so much, Chris Farcher

Internal linking: Global Nav Bar obscuring link authority?
I was watching Rand's whiteboard on how links in the headers/footers can impact SEO: moz.com/blog/links-headers-footers-navigation-impact-seo If I understood correctly: 1) Google will use the first link in the html that it sees for a given page. Additional links will not be considered for passing weight. 2) Text links in body (carry more weight than) > image links > nav links > footer links If we want to use a global nav bar, is there a simple solution for not obscuring the links in the body content? (It seems very awkward to load the header nav last (and bring it up via css after the page loads), and this also goes against Google wanting people to load above-the-fold content quickly.) If I internally link to a page that was not important enough to get a spot in the global nav, but I include this link in the body as a text link (for example, an accessory specific to that item), is this internal link really getting more weight in Google's eyes because it wasn't in the nav? This seems strange to me. Thanks!

Link juice retained when using nofollows?
Is it still true that when linking to other sites with nofollow links, the juice is retained on your page? Or is the juice lost, but just not passed on to the other site? I found this whiteboard friday, but it's pretty old (2007): http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-the-juice-is-loose Looking forward to your thoughts!

Why does SEOMoz use Wistia? Why would you not use YouTube as well? Does Vimeo factor into the equation at all?
I am wondering what the best options are for video hosting websites (YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, etc.). Which host has the best interface that you would want to use to embed into your site? Any advice you have in regards to optimizing the videos on our site, then that would be much appreciated. Thanks! And our YouTube channel is here http://www.youtube.com/user/gooverseas
