Ecommerce - SEO Quick Wins?

Hi
I wanted to find out if anyone had any quick wins for an ecommerce site & SEO. I am the only SEO and we have a small online team and an ecommerce site with thousands of product pages.
It's impossible to optimise everything, and we have taken the top 100 products and optimised them - starting from scratch with keyword research.
I'm now struggling to prioritize what we need next - I know we need better internal linking, content, social and lots more, but this isn't something I can get through alone.
I need a starting point and perhaps something with a quick win initially?

I no this question is bit old, however I found it relevant to my own site,
All I can say is... breath take stock and focus on the task in hand. what I mean by that is try not to get wrap in the world of seo yes most things are the same. however there's about a million ways of doing these things.
I found it better to concentrate on one task at a time, like doing all top titles & meta tags.
its hard as its only me doing the website whilst doing a full time job.
however like they say Rome was built in a day and it will all come good one day lol

This auto-linking tool has some nice customization options. I went through and created keyword/link pairs - no automation there. And, I also limited the link insertion to specific areas of the site.

Thank you for the feedback. What I find difficult, is that we're a generalist ecommerce supplier and our keywords are competing with the likes of Amazon / Ebay.
I've also started adding unique content to our category pages, but right now the template isn't the best. I want to add content in a better way for the user, I want to make it work for the customer and not be pointless text just for SEO.
With gaining brand mentions, are there any quick wins here? I mean, outreach is a huge task alone and one I can't focus on full time.

I personally would concentrate on your Title tags, modifying the title tags to reflect your researched keywords will have a relatively quick turnaround if optimized correctly. If your CMS allows, change the whole structure to stay within Moz/Google suggested limits. Add unique content to your category pages, and optimize those titles as well.

Compress images, caching, server optimizations, etc to increase website speed as much as possible, an increase usability.

Gain low hanging fruit quality relative links, for example, any links to industry brand lists, any brand mentions without links, charity sponsorships without links etc.

I'll add something two items...
#1. We had solid success with sorting out the right formula for canonicalization and pagination. It was tricky for us because we have faceted navigation + sorting parameters (like, sort by price) + multiple pages of products.
#2. Auto internal linking, we found an off-the-shelf extension to our CMS (Magento) that allowed us to auto-insert links across our site.

I have checked through our schema, there were a couple of tweaks but after user the testing tool it's correct - unfortunately it's still not showing.
I did read on here that Google won't show it for everyone?

One thing that I think all ecommerce sites need to be adopting these days, if you haven't already, is Product schema. Even if it doesn't directly impact your rankings (which, by the sounds of it, it may in future if not a little already), it can certainly influence searchers to click on your result above others that may even rank above you.

I have optimised key pages & raised that we get page speed looking into - I have to raise it to another team and it's not been prioritised due to other things.
I know we also need good backlinks - but the process of creating great content people link to takes time, I am starting to work on it, but it's not a quick fix.

I've started with optimising current product/category pages so we're focusing on the correct keywords. I know we need more content & internal linking, but I guess I'm caught up with what task to start?

The quick win is page loading speed. If the site is slow 2 seconds + - often getting it below two seconds you will see often a jump in traffic to your website. Google certainly likes the site more!
If forced to choose 1 - that would be my start, page loading speed.
The second quick win - is ensuring the key pages are optimized, ie title tag, H1 to answer the searchers query.
And a third to make it is not a "quick win" is a link audit or detox if required.
But as silk stream states - without knowing your site. It is hard... but that is a super quick answer to your query.
Though in fairness I would take a extra 24 hours and walk through the attached site audit, identify weaknesses and then prioritize.

Unfortunately, without knowing the types of products you sell, what you've done so far, site structure of categories and subcategories, etc, it's difficult to say what direction to go in for a "quick win".
It might be that there's no "quick win"

Hello All, I would appreciate if you could share with me your insight and advise on how to run SEO and UX experiments. How do we set up the proper benchmark and control groups, what tools to use? How can we ensure that the changes we see are not due to other factors and what difference is needed to confirm our findings? Does using parent pages in WordPress help with SEO and/or indexing for SERPs?
I have a law office and we handle four different practice areas. I used to have multiple websites (one for each practice area) with keywords in the actual domain name, but based on the recommendation of SEO "experts" a few years ago, I consolidated all the webpages into one single webpage (based on the rumors at the time that Google was going to be focusing on authorship and branding in the future, rather than keywords in URLs or titles). Needless to say, Google authorship was dropped a year or two later and "branding" never took off. Overall, having one webpage is convenient and generally makes SEO easier, but there's been a huge drawback: When my page comes up in SERPs after searching for "attorney" or "lawyer" combined with a specific practice area, the practice area landing pages don't typically come up in the SERPs, only the front page comes up. It's as if Google recognizes that I have some decent content, and Google knows that I specialize in multiple practice areas, but it directs everyone to the front page only. Prospective clients don't like this and it causes my bounce rate to be high. They like to land on a page focusing on the practice area they searched for. Two questions: (1) Would using parent pages (e.g. http://lawfirm.com/divorce/anytown-usa-attorney-lawyer/ vs. http://lawfirm.com/anytown-usa-divorce-attorney-lawyer/) be better for SEO? The research I've done up to this point appears to indicate "no." It doesn't make much difference as long as the keywords are in the domain name and/or URL. But I'd be interested to hear contrary opinions. (2) Would using parent pages (e.g. http://lawfirm.com/divorce/anytown-usa-attorney-lawyer/ vs. http://lawfirm.com/anytown-usa-divorce-attorney-lawyer/) be better for indexing in Google SERPs? For example, would it make it more likely that someone searching for "anytown usa divorce attorney" would actually end up in the divorce section of the website rather than the front page?

Our company is mentioned on some high-traffic, authoritative sites and some of our products are linked as well. If we link to those pages, does it affect our SEO? How can we take advantage of those mentions?
I heard that if you link to another site, when Google indexes your site, they crawl that page that is referenced. By whatever metrics they use, if that site has your name or a link to your site, Google would rank it higher. I am not sure how true that is, but what value does another site mentioned our site have on our SEO?

Ecommerce or E-commerce as a Keyword?
I have done a good bit of research but am not sure which word to focus on. I feel that the trend is moving towards no hyphen but I do not have any data to justify that other than google trends. Here is the research I found: Google Trends says ecommerce is more popular

Winning The New SERP Battle
I run a niche website (www.picnic-basket.com) that is approaching 10 years old. I have consistently added new content, performed redesigns, etc and WAS rewarded with a #1 placement on Google for my main keyword phrase for quite a long time. All our links are natural, no link-farms and I don't do exchanges either. I blog, write articles about our niche, have free cookbooks, delicious recipes and are always finding cool new products. FB & Twitter are also maintained. After Panda I'm now below the fold with amazon.com, bedbathandbeyond.com, worldmarket.com, overstock.com and brookstone.com all above me. These sites don't have anything to do with my niche other than just selling some items. ROI is horrible for me with PPC on this keyword phrase. I'm sure Googles' revenue has increased quite a bit in this category because users only see relevant websites up in the paid area. Through years of hard work I was finally able to beat my old niche competitors but I'm left wondering, How do I beat the "Big Boys"? Any advice for someone like me?

Bing SEO?
I've put in a lot of time on my site to make sure it is full of good relevent content and has a healthy back link profile. I rank well on google but not on Bing. How do I go about optimizing my site for Bing and what does Bing look for that makes them rank sites differnetly than google? Also what other search engines should I be looking to optimize for? As a note I am a Realtor with a Real Estate website.

SEO Ranking & Brand Names
I have several situations where one of my sites rank organically in 4th or 5th place for a specific search term relating to a 'big brand' .. I usually fall in behind the brands main website .. commercially this is very good for me. Let me give you an example .. in google.co.uk type in 'thomas cook exchange rates'. I rank position 4 (comparecurrency.co.uk). Position 1-3 are thomas cook's own pages. Naturally. However, my question is .. could I outrank them and how could I initially measure the effort involved in getting to position 1? I noticed Google recently put me into position 1 for this term and then quickly (within a few days) pulled me back down to position 4. Does anyone have any experience of this type of search positioning and have any information that may help me? My gut feel is that I have maybe maxed out the economically viable potential of these keywords and that I should invest my SEO $s into other phrases? Thanks in advance Olly

SEO Faith Shaker... help!!
Something has happened which is, well inexplicable to me... I'm stumped! We have a client that has two sites which compete for the same keywords. One is a .com, the other is a .co.uk. They have different content so there's no dupe worries. We have, for the past few months been carrying out SEO for the .com site. It's doing great. We don't do anything with the .co.uk site, which, incidentally dropped from 2nd (under the .com) to 9th after Panda for its main keyword. The owner of the site has switched the .co.uk to Wordpress and now that site, with the same content, same links, same social signals, etc... (nothing was done to it except the platform being changed) has suddenly shot up above the .com for not only its main keyword but most of the others too. What gives?? It doesn't even have a link from the .com site! So, the .com which has undergone SEO is now being beaten by the .co.uk which hasn't. The .com is still directly underneath it. It feels like all of the things we know about SEO, all of the ranking factors and everything are being totally undermined here, just due to a change to Wordpress. Surely that can't be it?? The .com is an older domain, has more content, has always done well, has more links and from better places, and all the social stuff surrounding the business is targeted at it. This isn't a penalization issue or anything like that, this is simply a matter of the .co.uk suddenly blasting above everything for no apparent reason. Any ideas?? I know that there "might" be a tiny, tiny, tiny advantage of the country TLD but that's not enough to do this, and the .co.uk always did worse before.
