Realistic expectations to increase domain authority
-
A) what is a realistic timeline to increase a websites domain authority by 20 points?
B) what are the most important factors to increase a websites domain authority?
-
Years? I saw 3 competitor companies boosting (alle-noten.de, notenbuch.de, stretta-music.com) their DA from 30 to 50 within a couple of weeks.
Obviously concentratation on what the customers wants gets more and more irrelevant. Instead the massive purchse of links is key. -
Actually, 27 to 47.
-
You've left off a very important fact.
Are you trying to go from 0 to 20 or from 20 to 40. The time required is completely different.
-
What is a realistic timeline to increase a website's domain authority by 20 points?
Years. Domain authority uses a logarithmic scale like the Richter scale used to measure earthquakes. Every notch you move up the rung takes exponentially more time, discipline, creativity, outreach, and energy.
If you're asking the question b/c you have to set expectations with someone, I'm with Gaston and would suggest you set business goals and a realistic timeline to reach them versus relying on a metric that correlates with high rankings. Think leads and downloads. If it's an e-commerce site, think sales. Things that are easier to measure and explain to the business.
What are the most important factors to increase a website's domain authority?
Someone from Moz would have to answer that. Here is the page on their site that best explains it. My understanding is the domain authority metric tries to mirror Google's interpretation of a website's importance and would expect incoming links and their sources to be given considerable weight in the calculation.

Hi Kris,
This brings a bigger question: Why do you need a 20 point increase ?
You MUST know that having higher metrics will not make you rank higher. It will increase the chances of ranking higher and impress your clients/supervisors.
In my opinion, you should not focus in metrics, such as PA or DA. Focus in doing what google wants. To answer your questions, just get (somehow) links with higher PA/DA than your page and make your link profile to have more and more of those links. Timeline? a few per week for the entire life.
Remember, moz's metrics look at the most, the backlinks pointing to your page and the links in the pages related to the backlink and you website... So the key in Moz' s metrics: BACKLINKS!Hope I've helped.
GR.

How to Handle Spammy Top Referring Domains
We keep getting links from the domain lyricswithoutmelody.org. Currently we have the most referring backlinks of all from them. I'm not sure what to do with it... is it hurting us? I know I can disavow them, but I'm afraid it will hurt since we have 472 total backlinks from the domain. Their trust flow is 9 and citation flow is 11. Another option I was thinking is to block the domains IP from seeing our website, would that work? Just trying to figure out the best coarse of action... or if no action at all is best. I've attached a screenshot of my top referring domains. The ones outlined in red I don't know who they are and if it's helping or hurting. Moz Fam HELP! Ijb09DNhIW5

Can’t put a finger on, what is causing 12 year domain, SEO optimized and decent link profile to rank lower than other less superior domains.
Can’t put a finger on, what is causing 12 year domain, SEO optimized and decent link profile to rank lower than other less superior domains. I have dissected the site and link, content, etc profile using ahrefs tools, still no luck, and unfortunately they do not have a community to ask anyone opinion. Hoping someone on Moz will be able to provide me with a secondary opinion or something I obviously missing here. Looking for any constructive feedback/professional opinion with fresh look on what maybe the cause of our down rankings and what may be a cause of it. Any feedback is very much appreciated. :Pointing hreflang to a different domain
Hi all, Let's say I have two websites: www.mywebsite.com and www.mywebsite.de - they share a lot of content but the main categories and URLs are almost always different. Am I right in saying I can't just set the hreflang tag on every page of www.mywebsite.com to read: rel='alternate' hreflang='de' href='http://mywebsite.de' /> That just won't do anything, right? Am I also right in saying that the only way to use hreflang properly across two domains is to have a customer hreflang tag on every page that has identical content translated into German? So for this page: www.mywebsite.com/page.html my hreflang tag for the german users would be: <link < span="">rel='alternate' hreflang='de' href='http://mywebsite.de/page.html' /></link <> Thanks for your time.

Practical steps to increase Domain Authority
Having read the Neil Patel's guide to DA, I am still at a loss as to practical steps, I can do to help improve my Domain Authority. This is a summary of findings / action plan so far: 1. Building quality incoming links by producing excellent content that people will love! 2. Having "related articles" to keep users on site for longer, and provide more information I am certain I am missing some more steps? More worryingly my DA has gone down from 8 to 5! I do not know how to improve it? Please help with real practical steps that I can use.

Should I redirect my Google Update Effected Domain to brand new Domain?
Hey Moz experts, I had a domain which was really doing better but after the Humming Bird update my traffic was decreased up to 90%. There are plenty of posts on my existing blog, Now what should I do? I mean should I redirect it to a brand new domain or Copy all the posts to a brand new domain and delete my existing domain? Note that the Old domain has PR1, DA 19 and PA 30.

Primary Domain or Redirect?
We are starting a new travel guide for a resort town. I have bought an expired domain with decent related links and PR (which seems to have survived the transfer (4 months ago). Beofre we launch the new site I am trying to decide if we should use this expired domain as the primary URL for the new site or just do a permanent redirect and buy a new domain that better matches the theme of the site. I am obviously concerned with starting from scatch with a new domain. I am confident we can build some good rellevant links in a short time but this space is very competetive. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Redirecting One Page of Content on Domain A to Domain B
Let's say I have a nice page of content on Domain A, which is a strong domain. That page has a nice number of links from other websites and ranks on the first page of the SERPs for some good keywords. However, I would like to move that single page of content to Domain B using a 301 redirect. Domain B is a slightly weaker domain, however, it has better assets to monetize the traffic that visits this page of content. I expect that the rankings might slip down a few places but I am hoping that I will at least keep some of the credit for the inbound links from other websites. Has anyone ever done this? Did it work as you expected? Did the content hold its rankings after being moved? Any advice or philosophical opinions on this? Thank you!
