Content Creation For Blog & Ranking Locally
-
Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to rank for specific long tail key words such as:
- lower back pain treatment exercises
- lower back surgery options
- herniated disc exercises and etc.
My question is:
If I create a blog or article on these key words and integrate content and video within it and on youtube, will these blog posts come up locally when someone searches it within my area?

Hello There,
Don Quixote's points regarding YMYL sites and use of Google Posts are both good ones. Medical content needs to come from an authoritative source to do its best these days. Using Google Posts to intro your blog posts on your Google Business Profile is also a smart idea.
I think, however, you are asking a very specific question here. I believe you are asking (and correct me if I'm wrong) if, let's say, an orthopaedic surgery practice based in San Diego had a blog that featured articles about back injuries, surgeries and therapies, would those blog posts particularly come up for people searching for these topics in San Diego. Is this the scenario you are describing?
If so, then what would be key here is that the articles not only be optimized for "lower back surgery options", but also, "San Diego". A blog post like this might be titled something like, What are Your Lower Back Surgery Options in San Diego? And it could feature a review of orthopedic surgical offices in that city. This local optimization would make it clear to Google that the content is written for a particular geographic audience. Otherwise, without the geomodification, you would basically be competing against the rest of the English-speaking world for this keyword phrase and your article wouldn't likely be any more liable to come up for San Diego searchers than for searchers anywhere else in the world.
So, your approach to this sort of things deserves careful planning, based on your business location and business model, if you are trying to attract a local audience.

Yes, you have on GMB the ability to post a weekly blog post. It often appears at the bottom of the local listing. So it is a form of local content publishing..
On organic, the post or content has to be qualitative in every way. You are dealing with YMYL pages - Your Money, Your Life pages. The links and suggestions made relate to delivering on the quality.
Hope that is helpful.

Hello,
So you're suggesting that I post my blog posts and content to my google business page? Also, are you suggesting for organic? I didn't understand that portion of your response.

Hi
Firstly great to post on your GMB page. So yes can get locally listed on GMB but if want authority - to link on organic that would be a lot harder - quality is key - see below.
On content - key element as in the medical field is to focus on quality, referencing and accuracy. google "medic update google" - August 2018 and you will see why suggesting.
Below is an overview of elements google looks for in content. Michael Cottam wrote this great post years ago, which still has very high value. https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog/panda-optimization-whiteboard-friday
Hope that helps.

Dr. location website and blog
I use Moz Local to sync my Endocrinology medical clinic website to search engines and directories and it has helped me a lot. However, I want to start a blog that deep dives into Endocrine based issues like diseases and conditions. The issue is I am not sure if I should just add the blog to my Endocrinology Medical Clinic website or Start the blog off on a completely new domain because one day I might want to sell my Endocrinology Medical Clinic but keep my Endocrine based blog. What do you suggest? Also do any of your services help submit blogs without a physical address to search engines and directories like Moz Local?

How much should I pay for one hour of content creation work?
Hi I have recently been looking for some new content creators to work with. And I recently asked a blogger that I know of how much he would charge for some content creations. I told him that I'm looking for some good compelling content that is about 400 to 500 words. And he told me that he would charge $180 an hour. I sorta feel like that's a bit to much, but I don't want to jump to conclusions without any advice from you all. I'm very well versed in my SEO and do most of the work for my site. But I think a fresh touch would really be helpful.

Blog.website.com or website.com/blog
Hello, I have a question, in some moz guidelines you can read website.com/blog is better/more recommended than blog.website.com. But when you look at the domain authority you see no difference. blog.website.com gets exact the same domain authority as website.com. So can somebody explain why website.com/blog is really better than blog.website.com? Or is there no difference? Thank you verry much

When Somebody Copies your content What should you do?
I wrote an article in 2011 A Brief History of Benjamin Moore Paint on my website ( I am a painting contractor). It is a content creators win; sited as an authoritative article on wikipedia. Benjamin Moore Paint company has copied my content on their own corporate website; a deep page. Is this hurting, helping, or neutral? bX1kFQg,639HqZE bX1kFQg,639HqZE#1

What is your take on using Google images for blogs
In your opinion, do you think it is okay to use Google images for your blog posts as long as it credits or includes a link to the site in which you located it? We tried looking at stock art for some license-free photos and had no luck in coming up with good pictures. What rules or guidelines do you follow when looking for pictures for your customers blog (or your own)? A lot of our posts have to do with "what to do in this city" or "Where to go in this city". Do you think it's okay to use Google images for these types of posts?

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Duplicate content on forums?
I am creating a forum. I am concerned that when I create the forum, users will copy content from other places to post onto my forum. How negative/bad is this in terms of google eyes? I am concerned when people copy press releases and re-post it to the forum. Should I make a rule that all content must be typed and not copied? Or is a little copying okay?
