Does a site with only one blog post a month rank alright?
-
I manage multiple websites and want to start new ones but want to know if one blog post a month is acceptable for SEO since I'm worried about rank.
-
It does depend on the quality of the content marketing. If it's say 3000 words, and its really well written, is white hat and has a low bounce rate, this can help improve your organic SEO.
-
If your one post per month is the best post on the internet for its topic then you might be able to compete in a sleepy to semi-sleepy niche. If there is meaningful competition, then you will probably not get very far.
Twenty years ago, when the internet was new and competition was not stiff, I used to have a lot of sites. Today I have three and have three people helping me every day. These people are not noobs. We are doing great, but we are in the fight of our lives.
You must have enough writing talent and the resources to be competitive in your niche. Search for the keywords for which you want to compete and look WHO is there. Those are the people or companies that you must beat. Can you do it? Can you beat their content and their posting volume? If you look and you think you can beat them then go for it. But the more projects you have running the less competitive you are going to be in any one of them.
If I was starting out, I would put all of my effort into the site that best matches my expertise and talent. When I get it kicking ass then I would think about a second site, but then only realizing that working on the second site puts my first site at risk.

Gaston,
Thank you so much for the insight, it's greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
The posting frequency is not that relevant as the content of the page you are posting. I wouldnt worry that much about strictly posting once a month.
My advice here is to focus on content, give users the content they are looking for when searching on Google.
This could be a good moment to refresh and have a deep reading on the beginner's guide to SEO - Moz and also to what google officially says in their Search Engine Optimization (SEO) starter guide - Google Search Console.Hope it helps, best luck.
Gaston

What exactly "monthly searches" from Google Adwords teach us?
I have noticed that monthly searches of our "brand" in last five years is almost same. But I can see our competitors have increased their brand searched for monthly in last few years. They are gaining popularity slowly where we are not. What are the other things we can learn when users searching for our brand are not increasing? Thanks

Looking to create a Press Release - Any decent sites out there?
Hey guys, I'm wondering whether you could point me in the right direction of a reputable PR site to use? I realise that many of these sites have been devalued over recent years but I wanted to produce something for a client after they struck-up a fairly notable connection with another company in their industry. Or should I just avoid PR sites altogether? Oh, and I'd prefer them to be free if possible 🙂

PR resource blogs
With the SEO community focusing a lot on "online PR" now, I was wondering if there were great sites around PR like MOZ or SearchEngine Land. Does anyone know any?

Can anything be done for a single brand page on a corporate site?
I was asked by a friend if there was anyway I could help promote the watch brand that they are responsible for. The brand has only one page on the corporate site. http://gevrilgroup.com/fortis-watches/ My first reaction is that this is impossible to do without creating a stand alone web site and then doing some super cool marketing to get your brand noticed out of the sea of watch manufacturers. My second gut reaction is to stand clear of this request and not get myself tangled in something that will require a lot of resources for someone on a low budget. Any suggestions?

How to leverage blog articles?
"Hello Moz Fans!" I've been writing blogs for our new site (bizinka.com an e-commerce,website design company) and posting links on our social media pages, however as we're in our infancy and so there's limited traffic that comes from social media so I want to know what the best practices and avenues to take in leveraging these blogs? I've heard a lot about article sites such as Ezine holding little weight and there's a lot of forums out there that don't seem to offer much at all in terms of traffic and credibility. Could anyone suggest some sites please?

What can i do to regain top 3 for local map listings if I already created a bunch of citation link to my site?
I got hit by a penguin refresh on Oct 5th and lost over 10 #1 rankings. I'm currently #4 on the places listing for my main keyword and really trying to regain top 3 position. I created a bunch of local citation with matching info and really piped out my map listing since it is 100% complete. I'm quite stumped on how to further optimize my map listing to where i can hit top 3 positions. Does anyone have any recommendations on this issue? Thanks Sam

Blog - separate domain or current website?
I have created a business blog purely to gain higher rankings for particular keywords which then has links pointing to the product that I am trying to sell. My question... Is it better to have this blog hosted on the same domain or shall I move it to a separate domain which will help with backlinks? Any advice would be appreciated?

Link local online newspaper ad to newspaper's spash page or my site?
We just started advertising on the web version of our local newspaper. They suggest our ads go to a "splash page" they created for us on their site. The page haslinks , images and text taken from each of our main categories,. Plus links and feeds from our twitter and facebook pages. And a google map. This page shows a page authority 1 with 0 links. Is there any reason to link our ad to a page like this rather than going direct to our website page? Thank you Handcrafter
