Clever Way To Increase Organic Search Traffic To News/Magazine Websites
-
Hi fellow Mozzers...
I've been asked to increase organic search (SEO) traffic to a news/magazine style website. All the website consists of is regular news articles within a specific niche. It is also already listed on Google News.
I know we can improve any on-page tactics, such as optimising the article webpages, internal linking, improving the navigation and adding breadcrumbs etc. But what about off-page?
They want us to work on backlinks to the site, which we can do for the homepage to improve the domain authority. But there's no point on increasing backlinks to the individual news articles, as they have a very short life span, and are not evergreen. Perhaps it's a good idea to increase backlinks to the category pages? But there are no real keyword opportunites on these pages.
Can anyone recommend a clever SEO strategy to increase SEO traffic to a news style website? The site can be found at https://tinyurl.com/2p9arrwz
Best wishes. Many thanks for any replies in advance
Lee.

yes I've been requested according to increase natural inquire (SEO) traffic according to a news/magazine fashion website. All the website consists regarding is normal information articles inside a particular niche. It is also in the meanwhile listed on Google News.
I understand we may improve any on-page tactics, such so optimising the article webpages, intestinal linking, improving the navigation yet including breadcrumbs etc. But what as regards off-page?
They want us to work about inbound links in imitation of the site, which we do do because of the homepage in imitation of improve the area authority. But there may be no factor of growing back links in imitation of the single news articles, so she bear a dead brief existence span, yet are now not evergreen. Perhaps it is a proper notion in accordance with expand oneway links in conformity with the category pages? But at that place are no real key-word opportunites regarding this pages.

To hyphenate or not to hyphenate?
Quick question: does Google differentiate between terms that correctly include a hyphen (such as "royalty-free") and those that are incorrect ("royalty free")? I ask because the correct term "royalty-free"(with a hyphen) receives far less monthly traffic for the same term without the hyphen (according to Moz): Term | Estimated traffic
On-Page Optimization | | JCN-SBWD
"royalty free music" | 11.5-30.3K
"royalty-free music" | 501-850 If Moz views the terms separately then I'd guess that Google does too, in which case the best thing to do for SEO (and increased site traffic) would be to wrongly use "royalty free" without the hyphen. Is that correct?0 -
Is it Ok to have multiple domains (separate website different content) rank for similar keywords?
Is it 'OK' to have multiple domains in the following instance? Does Google actively discourage multiple (but completely different sites) domains from the same company appearing in the search results for the same and or similar keywords if the content is slightly different? This is where the 'main site' has the details, and you can purchase product, and the second site is a blog site only. We are creating a separate content blogsite; which would be on a second domain that will be related to one portion of content on main site. They would be linking back and forth, or maybe the blog site would just link over to the main site so they can purchase said product. This would be a similar scenario to give you an idea of how it would be structured: MAIN SITE: describes a few products, and you can purchase from this site SECOND SITE, different domain: a blog site that contains personal experiences with one of the products. BOTH sites will be linked back and forth....or as mentioned maybe the blog site could just link over to the 'main site' Logo would be a modified version of the main logo and look and feel of the sight would be similar but not exactly the same. MORE INFO: the main site has existed for way over 10 years, starting to gain some traction in an extremely competitive market, but does not rank super high, is gaining traction due to improvements in speed, content, onpage SEO, etc... So in addition to my main question of is this 'ok' to have this second domain, also will it hurt the rankings or negatively affect the 'main' site? Wondering about duplicate content issues, except it will be slightly different...

Do You Risk A Penalty From Local Paid Directories in 2022?
Hi there, I have a client who wants to advertise in a local directory along the lines of "find your nearest plumber". The directory only has paid listings and they are follow links and they also mention your site or generated landing page may get a nice bump on google. Is there a risk that they may get a penalty for using this directory? The client wants to use it regardless of if it gives them an SEO boost but obviously wants to avoid any penalties at all costs. Thoughts on this? Thanks in advance

Google Search Console - Excluded Pages and Multiple Properties
I have used Moz to identify keywords that are ideal for my website and then I optimized different pages for those keywords, but unfortunately rankings for some of the pages have declined. Since I am working with an ecommerce site, I read that having a lot of Excluded pages on the Google Search Console was to be expected so I initially ignored them. However, some of the pages I was trying to optimize are listed there, especially under the 'Crawled - currently not indexed' and the 'Discovered - currently not indexed' sections. I have read this page (link: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/crawled-currently-not-indexed-coverage-status ) and plan on focusing on Steps 5 & 7, but wanted to ask if anyone else has had experience with these issues. Also, does anyone know if having multiple properties (https vs http, www vs no www) can negatively affect a site? For example, could a sitemap from one property overwrite another? Would removing one property from the Console have any negative impact on the site? I plan on asking these questions on a Google forum, but I wanted to add it to this post in case anyone here had any insights. Thank you very much for your time,

How to Incorporate Awkward Keyword Phrases
Certain keywords are good choices for my website (high CTR, low difficulty, high volume), but they would be very awkward to use in my website content. For example, "therapist near me" is a popular search term, but it would be very strange for me to use those words in that order in my content (I am a therapist). Any thoughts about this are welcome.
